Development Of A Historic Preservation Outreach Program With Evaluation Plan For The University Of Arkansas At Little Rock History Department, Franklin Allen Latimer Jan 2003

Development Of A Historic Preservation Outreach Program With Evaluation Plan For The University Of Arkansas At Little Rock History Department, Franklin Allen Latimer

Abraham S. Fischler College of Education ETD Archive

The problem is that the Arkansas Historic Preservation Program (AHPP) is ignoring the large potential constituency on the state’s college campuses. By ignoring this potential constituency, the agency is not meeting its goal of educating the public on historic preservation to the fullest extent and the agency is missing an opportunity to recruit people into working for preservation of the state’s cultural resources. This project was intended to develop a preservation outreach program to facilitate delivering information on the state’s historic resources as well as services offered by AHPP to the students in the history department of the University of …

Improving And Enhancing The Afterschool Program At Brookside School, William E. Kayal Jan 2001

Improving And Enhancing The Afterschool Program At Brookside School, William E. Kayal

Abraham S. Fischler College of Education ETD Archive

This report explains the progress of a program for participants who benefited more than the typical nonparticipants in an afterschool extended-day program. Schubert (1997) stated, "To develop school experience that genuinely engage students and teachers in citizenship, gives meaning and direction to their lives" (p. 82). Results of the study showed that the participants' development was a complex process about the natural reciprocity between self and others with an emphasis on building relationships and providing programs to support student needs. The staff members have always demonstrated through modeling that students are the school's first priority.

Students commented that staff interest …

Comparing Views Of Broadcasters And Student Interns About Career Preparation, Michael L. Hilt, Jeremy Harris Lipschultz Oct 1999

Comparing Views Of Broadcasters And Student Interns About Career Preparation, Michael L. Hilt, Jeremy Harris Lipschultz

Communication Faculty Publications

Broadcast news professionals appear to understand the value of internships as one way to train students for a career in the industry (Davie, Fleisher, & Rochiguez-Gillman, 1999). Internships have become an integral part of many journalism and broadcasting curricula. More than 95 percent of journalism and broadcasting programs report that they offer internships (Becker, 1990; Meeske, l988b). The industry's mandate that even entry-level employees should have experience in the field (Basow & Byrne, 1993· Parcells, 1985) has led colleges and universities to help place students in internships. The programs provide students an opportunity to grow in a professional environment, while …

Pre-Referral Portfolio Assessment For Limited English Proficient Students, Elizabeth Grayce Stevens May 1998

Pre-Referral Portfolio Assessment For Limited English Proficient Students, Elizabeth Grayce Stevens

Undergraduate Honors Capstone Projects

What can be done to ensure that the needs are met of children who are limited in proficiency of the English language? Such is the familiar query of educators and professionals alike. In fact, one elementary school principal stated that this question often presents itself as the first item of business when administrators meet together (Marian Waterman, personal communication, October, 1997). How do we know where to place a child? How do we evaluate progress? When progress is limited, how do we know if the child requires special education services? The answers lie in appropriate assessment.
