Personality Differences Between Males And Females In A Student And Bank Management Sample, Michael G. Howie

Master's Theses

To clarify some of the findings reported in the litera ture concerning the female personality and more specifically the personality of female bank managers, the Guilford Zimmerman Temperament Survey was administered to 33 male and 33 female bank managers and 33 male and 33 female students planning careers in business. A 3 factor ANOV showed that Ss differed significantly between samples and between sexes, but on only one personality trait; emotional stability. A t-test was performed on the scores of the masculinity trait when no significance was found on that trait with the ANOV method. This test showed a significant …

Precision Teaching Of The Deaf, Morton Isaacs Jan 1973

Precision Teaching Of The Deaf, Morton Isaacs

Articles

Forty-eight deaf NTID students were randomly assigned to an introductory psychology course, 31 to a group which was conducted under a precision teaching method and 17 under the traditional lecture format. Although comparable initially in intelligence and hearing discrimination skills, the group which received the precision teaching scored 13.6 to 16.6 points higher in three written, multiple-choice examinations. They also indicated on a written questionnaire increased enjoyment of the course over the lecture group receiving identical material. It is hypothesized that noth increased learning and motivational factors bring about the examination score differentials.

Effects Of Self-Monitoring On Out-Of-Class Reading Behavior, Ronald D. Elniff Jan 1973

Effects Of Self-Monitoring On Out-Of-Class Reading Behavior, Ronald D. Elniff

Master's Theses or Doctor of Nursing Practice

The effects of self-monitoring upon the ˜free time” reading behavior of twenty grade school students enrolled in a summer remedial reading course were examined. Two dependent variables were measured: the number of pages read and the difficulty level of the material. The experiment was divided into five stages, the first stage being a baseline obtained by the experimenter without the subjects’ awareness. The second stage was comprised of having the subjects monitor the number of pages read daily. The third stage consisted not only of having the subjects monitor the number of pages read per day, but having the results …

A Comparison Of The Concept Of The Female Role As Held By Women In New York City With That Of A Woman In The Midwest, Sylvia Decker

Student Work

Throughout history there has been a universal tradition that the differences between the sexes are reflected in the character of male and female as well as in their physical structure. The attributes have been seen as complementary, not only in men and women but in all things. Events in nature and history have been explained by this universal principle. In Taoism, for example, the two principles, the Yin and the Yang, the feminine and the masculine, are parts of a unity. The feminine principle embodies all that is calm, dark, cool, passive, and receptive. The masculine principle embodies everything active, …

An Experimental Comparison Of Several Techniques For Reducing Speech Anxiety, Mary Schatzman Aden Feb 1972

An Experimental Comparison Of Several Techniques For Reducing Speech Anxiety, Mary Schatzman Aden

Student Work

There has been much research done on stage fright, but unfortunately, little of it can be applied specifically to actions a speech teacher can take to solve the problem in the classroom. Stage fright, anxiety, or speech apprehension (terms used synonymously in the report) has been measured, observed, and found to be related to different aspects of personality and audience perception.
