Presentation Factors As Critical Variables In Learning By Program, Guide, And Self Study, Charles Holman Jennings

Master's Theses

Visionary suggestions for improving formal education are now at last becoming realities. More and better equipped plants are rising. Teachers' salaries are on the increase. More updated text books are available. Ability grouping is Widely practiced. A wider range and greater depth or course offerings enhances the high school curricula. Increased alumni contributions and government grants are leading to expansion of staff and facilities at the college level. However, none of these consider how a student learns. Thus none copes directly with the most basic o! needs, that of making the teaching-learning process itself more effective and efficient. The approach …

The Psychological Disciplines In Theological Education, Paul W. Pruyser

Graduate Student Research Papers

The problem to be studied is the effect of anxiety and fear on the personality. Concern with this problem stems from the fact that on many occasions anxiety and fear blocks a person's free approach to experience and often anxiety and fear prevent one from building sound interpersonal and intergroup relations.

An Analysis Of The Personality Disorders Associated With Chronic Alcoholism As Revealed By The Clinical Use Of The Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory, Thomas E. Shaw

Student Work

For several years there has been a difference of opinion as to the cause and the effects of, and the treatment for, alcoholism. These opinions have been equally expressed by professional workers and lay people in the field and have ranged through describing alcoholism as a disease, a moral lapse, and a crime. The majority of these claims have been expressed from limited observation and shallow understanding. Very little research has been done from a personality structure viewpoint.

An Application Of The Semantic Differential Technique To Jazz Selections, William C. Rankin Jun 1963

An Application Of The Semantic Differential Technique To Jazz Selections, William C. Rankin

Student Work

Jazz is the kind of music played by jazz musicians. This rather circular description is similar in nature to most definitions concocted by critics and reviewers of jazz. Steeped in jazz lore, the critic or reviewer can frequently offer information as to who played what and when or where it was played. Utilizing this bit of esoteric knowledge, the critic or reviewer supplements generally inadequate definitions for the elusive attributes of jazz by constructing a point of view which in effect partitions jazz into categories of style. These partitioned categories of style which seem to bear some resemblance to chronological …

A Study Of The Relation Of Certain Personal Traits To The Reputation For Leadership Behavior And Supervisory Effectiveness Of Clerical Supervisors, Patrick Joseph Mulvihill

Student Work

The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship of certain personal traits of a selected group of first-level supervisors to the repuations for leadership behavior and supervisory effectiveness which the first-level supervisors had established with their superiors. Only those traits measured by the How Supervise Test, the Gordon Personal Profile, and an adjective scale were investigated. The hypothesis tested by the study was stated as follows: The first-level supervisor's reputationfor leadership behavior and supervisory effectiveness with his superior will be related to one or more of the measured traits to a statistically significant degree.

Transfer Of Training Between Tracking Tasks Employing Quickened And Unquickened Displays, Roger P. Dooley Nov 1962

Transfer Of Training Between Tracking Tasks Employing Quickened And Unquickened Displays, Roger P. Dooley

Student Work

Man's propensity for solving complex non-linear operations during continuous tracking is high. If the situation demands it he can readily learn to differentiate a displayed signal after the mechanism he is controlling has integrated it. If the tracking is made more and more complicated, however, accuracy falls off rapidly and learning time increases. For any specific task, it is usually possible to design a machine to assume the human operator's functions, but it is not always desirable to replace a man with another machine in a complex tracking task. Non-linear automatic systems are difficult and expensive to build. Most important, …
