Analysis Of The Analytic Hierarchy Process Methodologies, C B Alphonce, C M. Brugha Dec 1998

Analysis Of The Analytic Hierarchy Process Methodologies, C B Alphonce, C M. Brugha

Tanzania Journal of Science

We review various methodologies for estimating the impact scores of alternatives on criteria within the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP). The results show that the geometric mean method for retrieving impact scores from judgment matrices and the weighted geometric mean aggregation rule provide a best fit to the underlying structure of the problem.

Heavy Metal Pollution In Lake Victoria, J. W. A. Kandoro, M. H. Mikidadi Dec 1998

Heavy Metal Pollution In Lake Victoria, J. W. A. Kandoro, M. H. Mikidadi

Tanzania Journal of Science

This work presents the Energy dispersive x-ray flouorences (EDXRF) analysis of water and plant samplesfrom Lake Victoria at Mwanza for heavy metal pollution. Water and plant (Water hyacinth) samples were collected from Lake Victoria around Mwanza municipality from twenty seven locations. There were varying elemental concentrations from different locations reflecting the activities carried out in the vicinity of the lake. Maximum concentration values of up to 1640 mg/L for Pb, 23.3 mg/L for Mn, 42.8 mg/L for Cr, 15.1mg/L for Pb, 23.3mg/L for Cu, and 742.5 mg/L for Zn, were observed. Possible sources of the elements are discussed, from which …

Mathematical Analysis Of Marketing Costs Of Agricultural Crops: The Case Of Coffee, C.B. Alphonce Dec 1993

Mathematical Analysis Of Marketing Costs Of Agricultural Crops: The Case Of Coffee, C.B. Alphonce

Tanzania Journal of Science

This paper describes a case study in which a zero one mixed integer linear programming model was formulated and used to analyze marketing costs of coffee marketed by Kagera Co-operative Union. The solution of the model indicated a potential decrease of about 18% in the marketing costs. It is hoped that the model can be applied to other crops.

Theoretical Analysis Of Thermodynamic Consistency Of A Reiner-Rivlin Fluid, V.G. , Masanja Dec 1992

Theoretical Analysis Of Thermodynamic Consistency Of A Reiner-Rivlin Fluid, V.G. , Masanja

Tanzania Journal of Science

The thermodynamically admissibility of a Reiner-Rivlin fluid undergoing a two dimensional axisymmetric flow process has been investigated analytically. The Clausius-Duhem inequality shows dependence of the viscosity coefficients on kinematical quantities, hence no general restrictions can be made on the non-Newtonian viscosity coefficient. However specific restrictions have been made by considering a cubic degree fluid. It is concluded that the rheological equation of state is an approximate model of the constitutive behavior of a real fluid and that the thermodynamic consistency of a flow process can basically be proved numerically.

The Geometry Of Commutative Symmetric Loops, Hussein M. Karanda Jul 1975

The Geometry Of Commutative Symmetric Loops, Hussein M. Karanda

Tanzania Journal of Science

The aim of this paper is to show the connection existing between a commutative symmetric loop and an euclidean space.

The Geometry Of Symmetric Loops, Hussein M. Karanda Jan 1975

The Geometry Of Symmetric Loops, Hussein M. Karanda

Tanzania Journal of Science

This paper is intended to deal with the geometry of locally analytic loops. In it we will show which loops generate symmetric spaces, the connection between the constructions of Sabinin and Loos, and examples of symmetric loops. The main results of these articles were published in 1972 (Karanda 1972).

An Iteration Formula For Finding Roots Of Equations, R. W. P. Masenge Jan 1975

An Iteration Formula For Finding Roots Of Equations, R. W. P. Masenge

Tanzania Journal of Science

We seek the roots of the equation f(x) = 0.
