This phenomenological study aimed to understand the retention influence of leadership support for novice teachers at a southern Georgia school district. At this stage in the research, the retention influence of leadership support was generally defined as the systems available to novice teachers that raise levels of morality and motivation, influencing new teachers to continue in the education field (Burns, 1978). Bandura’s social cognitive theory guided the exploration of novice teacher retention relating to leadership system support. The investigation was guided by sub-questions that delve into self-efficacy, novice teachers’ attitudes, and social norms. Participants were teachers with no more than …

Nursing is the heart of healthcare, for decades we have been the drivers of innovation and have contributed to so many advancements in the profession. Even with nursing being a sincere passion amongst many nurses, there is an alarming trend of nurses who are faced with burnout (Brusie, C., n.d.). It has been reported that 1 in 5 nurses left their position in one particular health system (Andreyeva et al., 2023). It is also noted that turnover can be costly for organizations (Zuniga et al., 2019). While there are a multitude of reasons nurses could be leaving their companies, one …

Transgender And Gender Non-Conforming Leaders And Leadership: A Foundational And Integrative Review, Galen J. Talis
Libraries
Gender and leadership research has traditionally employed a binary framework, overlooking the experiences of transgender and gender non-conforming (TGNC) leaders and forcing leaders of all genders and intersectional identities into a dichotomous frame. This paper reviewed interdisciplinary literature using a robust search strategy in three academic databases and Google Scholar, as well as across eight leadership studies journals. Sixteen sources involving 440 leaders’ experiences were found. The author conducted a thematic analysis to explore how TGNC leaders’ experiences challenge and advance leadership theories, deepen understanding of discrimination, and offer ways to support their emergence and success. An Exploration Of Mentorship Among African American Male Youth Ministers Within The Nondenominational Church, Christina K. Crayton
Doctoral Dissertations and Projects
African American male youth ministers in the non-denominational church, lack long-standing career mentorship. The thought which suggests the most significant reason this deficiency exists, is due to the non-denominational church being independent of a larger denominational structure. While individual mentorship is obtained based on personal preference, it only takes one person to imbed generational seeds of wisdom, faith, hope, and love into the hearts and minds of an individual or a generation (Quick, 2020). To determine if lifespan career mentorship is needed in African American male youth ministers in the non-denominational church, extensive research was conducted to understand what the …

This study aims to identify the specific traits, characteristics, and strategies demonstrated by current arts organization leaders who are navigating the shifting demands of arts leadership. In this grounded theory study, the research team …

Essays On The Allocation, Coordination, And Selection Of Workers, Virginia Minni
Dissertation Awards
This thesis studies the determinants and consequences of workers’ allocation, coordination, and selection within organizations in countries at different levels of economic development.
The first chapter provides evidence of the critical role of managers in matching workers to jobs within the firm using the universe of personnel records on 200,000 employees over ten years of a multinational firm. Leveraging exogenous variation induced by the rotation of managers across teams, I find that successful managers cause workers to reallocate within the firm through lateral and vertical transfers. This leads to large and persistent gains in workers’ career progression and productivity. The …

Equifinality And The Key Role It Plays In Understanding The Future Of Leadership, Sam T. Hunter, Austin C. Doctor, Matthew Allen, Gina Scott Ligon
Reports, Projects, and Research
As organizations continue to increase in diversity across a range of demographic, value-based, and attitudinal variables, there can be a natural tension around differing styles and approaches to leading. We offer that these differences need not necessarily serve as a source of conflict if organizations are able to embrace the principle of equifinality. Equifinality, applied to leadership, represents the notion that there is more than one pathway to leading successfully. By focusing on equifinality as a core principle, stylistic differences can add to the fabric of organizational life rather than being a source of tension in it. We offer an …

The Boundary Of Blame: How Inka Elite Exploited The Instrumental Agency Of The Deceased In The Andean Afterlife As A Legitimation Strategy, Sarah Bender
Anthropology Undergraduate Senior Theses
In many Mesoamerican and Andean cultures, divine rulers were directly responsible for interceding with the natural and spiritual world to ensure prosperity for the people. When these interventions failed, the legitimacy of the rulership was undermined. To mitigate this occurrence, Inka god-kings carefully installed a social buffer of liability or "boundary of blame” around themselves. Integrating translated historical accounts from the Early Colonial period with existing archaeological evidence, I argue for a new interpretation of Inka legitimation strategies that considers how living Sapa Inkas distributed responsibility (and blame) among themselves, deceased rulers and nobility, and victims of ritual sacrifice. Employing …
