It started with a diagram and evolved into an articulation of each step of the model. This prototype model is called Model for Purposeful Team Innovation. The model is divided in seven steps that include identity, mission, quality, targets for improvement, roadmap, execution, monitoring to assess the maturity and …

Leadership Development Programs: Exploring The Real Impact Upon Communities And Organizations, Brandon Steinert

Master's Theses or Doctor of Nursing Practice

Leadership development programs are a popular tool utilized by communities and organizations to influence culture, challenge status quo and develop individuals. Five Principles To Empower The Worship Leader, Stacey Brown May 2016

Five Principles To Empower The Worship Leader, Stacey Brown

Doctoral Dissertations and Projects

The role of the worship leader exists in most churches. These leaders serve in roles from volunteer choir directors to the directors of large worship staffs. They are the standard-bearers of worship for their teams and their congregations. To successfully serve, they must possess knowledge of worship practices and leadership skills. While students of worship may have a firm foundation of biblical, historical, and philosophical principles, many current leaders do not have strong leadership backgrounds and, therefore, lack basic foundational skills for leadership. Through a study of current literature and a survey of leaders of worship in churches of various …

The purpose of this study was to examine leadership competencies within the Concordia University System based on McDaniel’s (2002) leadership schema using the quantitative instrument developed by Smith and Wolverton (2010). This study extended the Smith and Wolverton (2010) instrument by exploring whether or not variables such as gender or employment classification (i.e., an individual’s role within the institution) show significant differences in perception of leadership competencies. This study utilized principal component analysis to determine factors based on the individual competencies and multivariate analysis of variance to determine if differences arose between reported scores in gender and employment classification. Data …

The Nurse Executive Role In Implementing Evidence Based Practice (Ebp) At The Point Of Care, Kimberly Ann Malcolm Mrs.

Doctor of Nursing Practice Scholarly Projects

Scientific knowledge is available to guide point of care practice. Due to reported barriers, however, implementation of evidence-based care is not the norm. Current literature supports that knowledge and beliefs about evidence-based practice are related to the extent nurses engage in evidence-based practice. Additionally, current literature describes the positive effects nurse administrators can have on employment of evidence-based practice. The focus of this student nurse executive’s DNP scholarly project, therefore, was to improve use of evidence-based practice by nurses at the point of care using an evidence-based practice benchmark (at the rural Midwestern hospital where employed), specifically beta-blocker administration by …

Preface: The Nature And Necessity Of Hospitality, Thomas A. Maier Ph.D.

Vincentian Studies

As Thomas Maier writes, hospitality is “a willingness to receive others when they are in need, an authentic desire to lead and serve others with a specific orientation toward the common good.” Hospitality entails sharing ourselves with others and addressing the needs of people who are marginalized in our society. Hospitality In The Manner Of St. Vincent De Paul, J. Patrick Murphy C.M., Ph.D.

Vincentian Studies

J. Patrick Murphy’s goal is to “discover Vincent [de Paul]’s theory and practice of hospitality in the seventeenth century and make sense of it in the twenty-first.” He does this by defining five components of hospitality: “mission, passion, make friends, listen to your heart, and active hospitality.” He explains how Vincent acted on each. Murphy also notes how eminent business leaders of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries exhibit these components within their industries. He concludes with hospitality lessons for Vincentian leaders.

The Implementation Of A New Teacher Evaluation Model: A Qualitative Case Study Of How Teachers Make Sense Of The Marzano Evaluation Model, Brian P. Donahue

The strategy of inquiry was a single case study, representative of a large suburban high school adapting to the changes required under the provisions of Achieve NJ, the policy mandating new teacher evaluation (Yin, 2009). The theoretical framework of sensemaking and sensegiving guided the analysis of how teachers processed the changes to their evaluation system and the role the context played in the implementation of the MTEM (Weick, 1995, Gioia & Chittipeddi, 1991). Data was …

The book is presented in two general sections: theory that informs the practice of relational leadership and application of relational leadership in practice. Since most leaders do not emerge as leaders in the relational model, the constructionist implications would suggest that it is possible to become a relational leader. Though this rationale is not clearly articulated in the Preface, it is nonetheless implied in the …

For The Flock: Impetus For Shepherd Leadership In John 10, Nathan H. Gunter Apr 2016

For The Flock: Impetus For Shepherd Leadership In John 10, Nathan H. Gunter

Journal of Applied Christian Leadership

Following the prophets’ declarations concerning the need for right-hearted shepherds, the four Gospels portray Jesus as the fulfillment of God’s promise to send a Shepherd to save Israel (Ezek. 34:23). John’s Gospel extends the pastoral imagery of the Old testament, most notably in the Good Shepherd discourse (John 10:1-21). John’s development of the shepherd motif presents Jesus both as the Good Shepherd who will lay down his life for his sheep and as the model after whom other shepherds ought to pattern their leadership. contrary to contemporary conversations concerning christian leadership, though, John’s gospel places greater emphasis on the shepherd’s …

The Sankofa Bird And Reflection, Appiah Kubi Kwarteng Apr 2016

The Sankofa Bird And Reflection, Appiah Kubi Kwarteng

Journal of Applied Christian Leadership

As a minister of the Gospel, I have often reflected on the tension between Paul’s counsel in Philippians 3:13, 14 (forgetting those things that are behind, I press toward the mark) and Ellen G. White’s (1902) counsel that “we have nothing to fear for the future, except as we shall forget the way the Lord has led us, and his teaching in our past history” (p. 196). On the one hand it seems that we should forget the past, while on the other hand we are advised to remember our past and the way the Lord has led us in …

Consumerism: A Challenge For Christian Leadership?, José A. Aleby, Hugo Ernesto Quiroga Apr 2016

Consumerism: A Challenge For Christian Leadership?, José A. Aleby, Hugo Ernesto Quiroga

Journal of Applied Christian Leadership

This article is motivated by an academic work and a field research project developed by Hugo E. Quiroga (2012; personal communication, 2015) on oneomania as a challenge for christian leadership. Our intention is more to raise questions than to provide easy-sounding answers. The term oneomania may not be well known in theory, but its practical effects are recognized around the world. Oneomania, from the Greek onéo = to buy + mania = insanity, mental disorder (Taylor, 1950), is the scientific and technical term for the disease of consumerism, for the compulsive desire to shop, which is a progressive addiction to …

Scaling The Maternal Wall: Factors Of Success For Female Chief Student Affairs Officers With Children Working At Public Higher Education Institutions, Shaelyn R. Wolfe

All Capstone Projects

The higher education/student affairs administration field has a significant number of women graduating from programs across the country, however those numbers do not translate to the most executive levels, like vice president of student affairs, within this particular field. Many women are placed in entry level and mid-level positions without ever rising to the most senior positions, and others leave the higher education/student affairs administration field for part time work, to raise a family or to go into an entirely different field altogether. While there has been a lot of focus on the leaky pipeline of women in higher education …
