The K-12 schools in Paris and Bourbon County, Kentucky were segregated from the earliest schools developed after the U.S. Civil War up to the 1960s. This presentation was an overview of the development of the schools, the decrease in the student populations, and school integration in the Paris and Bourbon County schools. The presentation was an opportunity for all students, of all races, to share their memories and the memorabilia they had with them.

Weissman Was My Destination, Aldemaro Romero Jr.

Publications and Research

The date was Monday, August 8, 2016. The coeditor of this book, Gary Hentzi, and I visited Baruch College’s archives to get an idea of the kind of photographic resources we would have available to use as illustrations. We were impressed by how much material the archives contained and by how well organized they were. The director of the archives, Sandra Roff, and her staff walked us through the collection and occasionally showed us a particular picture that they thought could be of interest.

Assessing The Christian Epistemic Obligation To Big Bang Cosmology, Sven Östring Jan 2018

Assessing The Christian Epistemic Obligation To Big Bang Cosmology, Sven Östring

Journal of the Adventist Theological Society

For centuries, in the midst of historical waves of conflicting explanations of how our cosmos began, the Bible has resolutely proclaimed that God originally created the universe out of nothing. Thus, biblical cosmology holds that the universe is not past eternal and had a beginning. This cosmology was at odds with both the polytheistic Babylonian Enuma Elish creation myth 1 and Aristotle’s assertion that the universe has existed, unchanging, from eternity past. 2

The Consequences Of Dissent In East Texas, 1917-1921, Vicki Betts

Presentations and Publications

Supporters of Woodrow Wilson’s 1916 presidential reelection campaign proclaimed “he kept us out of the War.” Yet only one month after his inauguration Wilson stood before Congress asking for the United States to enter the war against Germany to make the world “safe for democracy.” Six weeks later Congress passed the Selective Service Act of 1917, the first military conscription since the Civil War. Suddenly, not only were all Americans expected to support the war in Europe, they were to send their sons, brothers, and husbands, whether they were willing or not. A sizeable number of Americans, including some in …
