Mr John Muir-
My dear Sir-
In writing to John Muir I almost feel that I am writing ton one of my own kin - My maternal grandmother was a Muir - Elizabeth Muir - The very striking resemblance of your pictures I have in "The Outlook" of June 6th 1903 and June 3rd 1905 to my mothers brother emboldened me to write - His name was Daniel Muir Chisholm, born in Invernessshire, Scotland- My middle name is Muir My love for the quiet of the country which is and has been so …

I'm very glad to hear from you though sorry Mrs Keller's health is still so frail. We all fondly hope rest in the open air will soon renew her strength
How busy you have been with your pen these days, while I have not written a word - days weeks & months consumed in petty cares tinkering the old house - healing earthquake wounds etc. But at last roofs have been made whole, new fires lighted & we want you to come & see us, come as soon as you can, give my …

My dear sir I think $400 is too little for Lot 4 Block 36 with additional 40 ft. It seems quite as good in every way as lot 3, which you say sold for $750.
The deed for lot 3 Blk 17 was made long ago. I told Mr. [ ] who had it in his office to send it to you or give it to Mr. Coleman. I’ll attend to it myself. Mr. Petersen promised me a week or two ago he would begin paying regularly $25 a month from December. Can’t say …

My dear Mr. Manson:-
I cannot, of course, attempt to forecast the action of the new Secretary of the Interior on the San Francisco Watershed question, but my advice to you is to assume that his attitude will be favorable, and to make the necessary preparations to set the case before him. I had supposed from an item in the paper that the city had definitely given up the Lake Eleanor plan and had purchased one of the other water systems. If the possibility of a supply …

Dear Mr. Muir,--
I have the pleasantest recollections of my visit at Martinez, in particular of our drive to Mr. Swett's and his courtesy. The bunches of Flaming Tokay grapes were much admired. One of these I took to my table at the Berkeley Inn, where it received tributes of admiration from Mrs. Lathrop and her son, [illegible] while the other graced our spread at a Sunday morning's breakfast on the rocks beyond North Berkeley, up under the eucalyptus ridge, at a reunion of a little circle known as the "Contented Club," …

I wonder if you know, or can find out, anything about the Trinity mine (Copper) in Shasta County. A friend of mine who, on strong recommendation of it has invested in it wishes "to know, you know." It is reported that they have staked out $4,000,000 worth of ore, and as copper is higher now than for forty years, this looks favorable. Do you know anybody up there who can tell you the condition and prospects, and something about the management?
