Ucg Pilot Tests In Eu Countries: A Review Of History And Progress, Jin Lili, Yang Lei, Wu Yarong, Wang Xiaofang, Yi Tongsheng, Qin Yong

Coal Geology & Exploration

Underground coal gasification (UCG) is an important way of transforming China’s coal energy structure. European Union (EU) countries explored UCG for over 80 years, and their rich experience can be used as a reference for promoting UCG industrialization in China. The UK prepared for UCG pilot tests for the first time in the world. From 1944 to 2014, based on the experience of the former Soviet Union and the United States, EU countries successively implemented at least 12 UCG pilot test projects in three stages, making important contributions to the progress in UCG technologies. As well explained by Keith Lowe, monuments are representative of our values, and every society deludes itself that its values will be everlasting. Mother Of Exiles: Hospitality & Comprehensive Immigration Reform, Ana M. Rodriguez

This article examines the historical pattern of denying immigration in the U.S. on moral and supposedly Christian grounds. Although it is reasonable that no nation is duty-bound to welcome every foreigner and provide the same benefits afforded those with full citizenship, this article contends that a genuinely Christian response demands the biblical core value of hospitality to others. Indeed, xenophobia is the antithesis of hospitality and cannot be supported by a faithful, exegetical interpretation of the Christian Bible. It should be noted that this article does not propose the emergence of an American theocracy; however, hospitality-based dialogue and humanitarian principles …

The United States’ immigration court system is located within the U.S. Department of Justice’s Executive Office for Immigration Review and operated under the power of the attorney general. Consequently, the attorney general can review and overrule decisions made by the Board of Immigration Appeals, the immigration appellate body. If the attorney general uses this authority, his decision cannot be reconsidered, and his opinion becomes precedent. Immigration courts are unique in that no other court system is located within or controlled by the executive branch. After an introduction and explanation of bias in Part I, Part II of this article explores the issue of bias and the underlying factors that configure bias, such as attitude, stereotype, and prejudice. Part II also examines the two principal types of bias, explicit bias and implicit bias, and defines common subsets of bias, such as gender bias. Part III presents implicit bias as an unconscious, utilitarian, and neuroscientific mechanism. Part III examines the neuroscience of decision-making and the neural structures that influence and regulate decision-making processes. Visibility And Usage Of Isbs Proceedings At Forty Years, Duane Knudson, Sarah Breen, Stuart A. Mcerlain-Naylor

ISBS Proceedings Archive

This study described the visibility and usage of research published in ISBS conference proceedings articles from 1983 to 2022. The 6,688 articles were downloaded 1,955,728 times in total, and 78% were indexed by Google Scholar. In recent proceedings, the number of articles and total downloads have decreased but downloads per article per year of availability have increased steeply. Top (1%) cited articles in Google Scholar had citations and citation rates similar to articles in biomechanics journals. While visibility has grown, there is limited citation of most ISBS proceedings articles compared to journal articles.

This thesis explores the operation of the tragic in Thomas Hardy’s The Return of the Native by taking as a starting point the formalist approach to the genre of tragedy, before extending its definition to encompass the key concept of tragic conflict. This thesis argues that Hardy’s tragic vision takes for object human history, and especially the effects of new, unveiled knowledge on the human psyche, thus locating the root cause of tragedy in these contingencies. This continuum between individual action and the larger historical causes that shape it is expressed via the narrator’s discourse, and the discrepancy between his …

The Cuban Missile Crisis At Sea—Avoidance Of Nuclear War Not Left To Chance, Theodore Voorhees

Many contradictions emerge from the nine published accounts of the confrontation between the Soviet submarine B-59 and American antisubmarine-warfare units during the Cuban missile crisis of October 1962. Assessing those accounts reveals that no participant should be anointed as “the man who saved the world,” and that the peaceful conclusion of the confrontation should not be attributed to good luck.
