The purpose of The Pacific Historian was to promote, through research and study, an interpretation of life in the Western United States, especially California. The articles dealt with social, cultural, political, and economic aspects of Western regional history.

This dissertation describes the productive, sexual, and public roles of married women living in the province of New Hampshire and the two Massachusetts counties which bordered it, Essex County to the south and York County (now Maine) to the north and east. Because there are no female diaries for the period and few letters, the study depends upon an accumulation of evidence from court records, account books, probate inventories, church records, paintings, embroideries, gravestones, genealogical records, captivity narratives, sermons, and the letters and diaries of husbands and sons.

This is a study of the Southern Review, a cultural quarterly published at Louisiana State University from 1935 to 1942, and edited by Charles Pipkin, Cleanth Brooks, and Robert Penn Warren. The Review is shown to be an important part of American intellectual history in the thirties and forties, of the Southern Renascence in literature, the history of LSU, and the careers of its editors and contributors. That the Review was more than a literary quarterly (thus the label "cultural quarterly") is evident in its contents. Besides fiction, poetry, and literary criticism, the magazine published Southern, political, and philosophical articles. …

This edition of the Wooster Voice was published on October 26 of 1979 and it is eight pages long. Eight students walk out of a lecture by Alex Poinsett, senior staff editor of Ebony magazine, when he stated, "white women are married to the oppressors of black people." Elie Wiesel, Chairman of the President's Commission on the Holocaust set to speak at McGaw Chapel. Additionally, a photograph from the Michael Coster art exhibit in Lowry Center is stolen. Athletic updates for the past week are highlighted on pages six, seven, and eight.

Utah History Learning Activity Modules That Enhance Positive Affective Behavior And Develop Critical And Creative Thinking, Katherine Ann Young

The purpose of this paper was to produce supplementary curriculum materials which would provide junior high school Utah history students with growth experiences in critical thinking, creative thinking, and positive affective values. These materials were produced in the form of forty separate, self-contained learning activity modules using the study of presentday Utah or Utah history as a focus of study.

Each Utah history learning activity module consists of two parts: (1) information, and (2) learning activities. The activities engage students to work with factual data to solve problems; to explore moral, ethical, or other controversial issues; or to otherwise develop …

The 19th century produced numerous intellectual currents which were expressions of an incompatibility with the modern age. In reaction to the emergence of a now, urban, petty bourgeois world the 19th century intellectual of ten assumed the role of a prophet, warning of the decadent course of history while portraying an ideal form of existence which could eventually be achieved. One manifestation of this expression of dissent was Romanticism, and especially German Romanticism. In Germany there arose a passionate outcry for the internal purification of man and the return to an earlier condition. Associated with this was the worship of …
