The Causes Of The Mexican War: A Survey Of Changing Interpretations, Augustus Cerillo Jr.
The Causes Of The Mexican War: A Survey Of Changing Interpretations, Augustus Cerillo Jr.
Student Work
The Mexican War, which resulted in a vast expansion of the national domain, has had a small place in the annals of American history. Treated as either the climax to the great expansionist movement of the 1840's, or as the first steop leading to civil war, the war with Mexico has been studied as an adjunct ot these more popular theses. Probbaly partial blame can be p;aced on the abolitionist writers who savagely condemned the war as part of a great slave conspiracy which ultimately brought on the American Civil War... It is the purpose of this thesis to trace …

College Life In Ante-Bellum Virginia, Diane Keith Light
College Life In Ante-Bellum Virginia, Diane Keith Light
Honors Theses
In comparison with contemporary collegiate experiences, college life in ante-bellum Virginia offers many contrasts. The college curriculum, teaching methods, student regulations, and behavior were manifestations of nineteenth century thought. These facets combined to form the existence of the institution and its inhabitants.

Law is frozen history. In an elementary sense, everything we study when we study law is the report of an event in history, and all history consists of such records or reports. It therefore cannot be my task to develop a sermon on the importance of historical records for the understanding of the law; the tie is too intimate and too obvious to need laboring." The work of Professor Maine on 'Ancient Law,'" wrote Professor T. W. Dwight in his Introduction to that book in the sixties of the last century, "is almost the only one in the English language …
