Darling Helen.
I'm getting desperately lonesome for you & must make haste with Stikeen & on to Daggett
I'm trying to keep the place fine for your sake. In the afternoons I often go down into the parlor when it is full of mellow golden light, & it looks perfectly lovely, And in the morning the sitting room is charming also with its pictures & fire-place & pillows etc. I take good care of your rubber tree. It is putting out new leaves magnificent in size & shape. Your bedroom pictures are glorious in the afternoons. …

We have had quite a storm. Yesterday afternoon it rained some here in the valley, and when the clouds lifted toward evening we saw that it had snowed on the mountains to the south. All night the wind fairly roared, and it was cold, but this morning is much warmer and tho' still windy, the sun is bright. I got into warm clothes yesterday for I felt a change coming, and last night I had lots of blankets, so Ive not minded the weather. Being Sunday, we all got up late this …

Wanda & Helen to John Muir
A few slight errors will have to be corrected & I will probably not get off until Saturday. Some Valona business also to be attended to - Made quite a sale yesterday of $400.00 & the wharf rent of 500- recently paid will make you quite moneyful.
Be very careful to guard against sudden changes in temperature - a single chill may undo all your hard won health gains.
