Representative Mormon Short Stories 1890 To 1940: Evolution Of Sentimentalism Toward Realism, Alice Gardner
Representative Mormon Short Stories 1890 To 1940: Evolution Of Sentimentalism Toward Realism, Alice Gardner
Theses and Dissertations
Previously, no one has analyzed the short stories of Mormon periodicals from their inception in the late nineteenth century until 1940. The body of this study attempts to do so and has two main aims.
First, it evaluates the literary development of largely sentimental stories written for Mormon youth. Sentimentality in fiction was an extreme form of romanticism which flourished in America throughout the nineteenth century and into the twentieth century. As other forms of realistic writing became more acceptable in the nation, Mormon writers gradually accommodated their literary styles to conform with national trends. They retained a significant amount …
The Graylands Story, Cam Rielly
The Graylands Story, Cam Rielly
Research outputs pre 2011
Gray lands is unique -there is no doubt about that.
Many past Graylanders would suggest that its uniqueness came from its buildings, but there were other teacher-education institutions in Australia which were compelled to operate in unsatisfactory conditions. Indeed, the physical surroundings for students and staff at Claremont had been, over the years since the war, little better than those at Graylands. Besides, toward the end of its life, through the efforts of the 4,000 students who passed through its corrugated-iron huts, the hundreds of lecturers, administrators and clerical officers who remained dedicated despite the totally inadequate accommodation, and the …
A Proposed New Federal Intermediate Appellate Court, Charles R. Haworth, Daniel J. Meador
A Proposed New Federal Intermediate Appellate Court, Charles R. Haworth, Daniel J. Meador
University of Michigan Journal of Law Reform
This article begins with an analysis of the recent history of federal appellate court reform efforts. It then focuses on three areas of federal litigation - tax law, patent law, and environmental law - in which there are exceptional needs for uniformity in the law but in which uncertainty in legal doctrine is especially pronounced. To make the law more uniform and predictable in these areas, the article proposes the new intermediate appellate court and sets forth in detail the jurisdiction arid structure of this court. The article concludes by pointing out aspects of this proposal that should make it …

Fornication, Cohabitation, And The Constitution, Michigan Law Review
Fornication, Cohabitation, And The Constitution, Michigan Law Review
Michigan Law Review
This Note begins with the indisputable assumption that laws prohibiting fornication and cohabitation are nowhere explioitly forbidden by the Constitution. If a right to engage in consensual adult heterosexual activity exists, it will most convincingly be inferred from the Court's cases establishing a right of "privacy." The Note first seeks to discover an adequate definition of privacy which might lead to a decision whether "privacy" encompasses the right .to fornicate or cohabit (a right which, for brevity's sake, we will somewhat imprecisely call the right to, sexual privacy), but it finds no such definition. The Note therefore proceeds to investigate …
