Marking The Coterminous Boundary Line Between The United States And Mexico 1848-1856, Donald Ralph Judge Mar 1967

Marking The Coterminous Boundary Line Between The United States And Mexico 1848-1856, Donald Ralph Judge

Student Work

The treaty history of United States expansion toward its contiguity is compacted between the years 1803 and 1953. During the period since that era, less significant boundary adjustments have been extended into current history. Within the scope of territorial expansion by treaty, this thesis is focused upon the marking of a common boundary line between the United States and the Republic of Mexico. This effort spanned an eight year period from 1848 to 1856.

Joys Of Discovery- Historical Research And Writing, Leroy R. Hafen Oct 1966

Joys Of Discovery- Historical Research And Writing, Leroy R. Hafen

BYU Studies

Brigham Young University history professor LeRoy Hafen lauds the merits of pursuing expertise in history, citing the thrill of discovery that historians feel when they uncover the facts. Hafen defines history as a cross between science and art—science because historians seek to find facts, art because the study of human behavior cannot always result in completely accurate discoveries. Additionally, history is an art because a historian must organize and retell the facts in an appealing way, striving for literary excellence as well as accuracy. Hafen describes the process of historical research, including making use of both primary and secondary sources …

The "Jesus Of History" And The "Christ Of Faith": In Relation To Matthew's View Of Time-Reactions To A New Approach, Jack Kingsbury Sep 1966

The "Jesus Of History" And The "Christ Of Faith": In Relation To Matthew's View Of Time-Reactions To A New Approach, Jack Kingsbury

Concordia Theological Monthly

The expression "Jesus of History - Christ of Faith" is a relatively recent idiom, the roots of which can be traced back to a lecture delivered in 1892 by the German systematician Martin Kahler, who entitled his address “The So-Called Historical Jesus and the Historic, Biblical Christ." In the last decade this idiom has come to specify a particular problem that has engaged the interest of New Testament scholars with great intensity. The problem is given with the fact that Jesus died about A. D. 30 but that all of the written materials we possess about Jesus were set down …

A History Of The Department Of Legal Medicine At Medical College Of Virginia, Mary A. Giunta

Master's Theses

Legal medicine can be defined as "the aoience of the application of medical knowledge to the purposes of the law." Therefore, its limits are on the one hand the requirements of the laws and on the other the whole range of medicine, that is to say, anatomy, physiology, pathology, pharmacology, medicine, surgery, obstetrics, gynecology, and all the sciences auxiliary thereto, that is, chemistry, physics, botany, et cetera; all lend their aid when necessity arises and in the same case to enable a court of law to arrive at a proper conclusion on a contested question affecting life or property."

A Historical Survey Of The Economic Development Of Mainland China, 1949-1962, Mandhatasinh A. Chauhan

All Graduate Theses and Dissertations, Spring 1920 to Summer 2023

Chinese agriculture differs from the Western agriculture in the development and utilization of agricultural science on the fields. China has always been an agricultural country, but she failed to improve in techniques of cultivation as the time passed by. The land, prior to the Communist take-over, was owned and cultivated by individuals and the produce was sold in a free-market. Unfortunately, the Chinese government, prior to 1949, failed to bring about adequate agricultural reforms and implement economic development measures.

As a result an overwhelming proportion of the population of China is occupied on the land, the supply of which is …

The Rise Of European Commercial Association During The Middle Ages, Ellen Douglas Moule

University of the Pacific Theses and Dissertations

The unity of Western Europe has not yet approached the political, economic and religious entity realized under the Roman Empire. Nor is it likely to duplicate such a centralized and authoritative basis of organization. It is the purpose of this paper to explore European economic association on the basis of co-operation rather than dominance. For this purpose historical cornerstones of economic co-operation and commercial endeavor will be discussed.

...

Among them the individuals and groups who pursued trade not only revived the collapsed commerce known to the Roman world, but provided the framework for modern commercial and financial activity and …

The Originality Of Fredrick Jackson Turner As An Historian And Teacher, Norman Gale Lamprey

The teaching aspects of Turner's career will be illuminated by analyzing the inseparable historian-teacher relationship and, in addition, the quality and lasting effects of his influence will be treated.
