Inductive Biblical Study: History, Character, And Prospects In A Global Environment, David R. Bauer
The Asbury Journal
In this keynote address at the 2012 Interdisciplinary Colloquium, held at McKenna Chapel on the Kentucky Campus of Asbury Theological Seminary, October 12, 2012, David Bauer examines the history and development of inductive biblical study within its English-speaking environment. In addition, he proposes ways in which this approach can be understood in postcolonial environments as a way to open the methodology of Inductive Bible Study to a larger global audience.

This course is designed to introduce students to selected themes as turning points in the history of the Christian Church from its origins to the present time. Within the broad sweep of the four main periods of the Church (Early, Medieval, Reformation, and Modern), students will consider key persons, events, developments, movements, and theological concepts. Special attention is devoted to intellectual history (the history of ideas) and to religious biography (the role key individuals have played in the story of Christianity). Open to MA students (other than MATS) only.

This study details a model for holistic Christian ministry which can be adopted by churches to help alleviate extreme poverty in Bunyore, Kenya. The model presented here is faithful to biblical truth and culturally relevant. If well implemented, the model can help Christians in Bunyore meet both their spiritual and physical needs, thereby demonstrating that Good News is indeed good to those in extreme poverty. The model has a spiritual element which makes it Holistic Christian Transformational Development (as it is termed here). This model stands in distinction from other models introduced by secular bodies which lack this spiritual element, …
