John Muir: A Reading Bibliography by Kimes (Muir articles 1866-1986)
Sierra Club Bulletin. Vol. VI. San Francisco, January, 1908. No. 4. THE HEXCH-HETCHY VALLEY By John Muir. ' It is impossible to overestimate the value of wild mountains and mountain temples as places for people to grow in, recreation grounds for soul and body. They are the greatest of our natural resources, God's best gifts, but none, however high and holy, is beyond reach of the spoiler. In these ravaging money-mad days monopolizing San Francisco capitalists are now doing their best to destroy the Yosemite Park, the most wonderful of all our great mountain national parks. Beginning on the Tuolumne …

We propose very briefly to call attention, to so much of the present constitution of Michigan as has to do with the executive department, and to consider the methods which the people have adopted for selecting those public servants whose official duty it is to enforce the law, to maintain public order and protect private rights.

My dear Mr. Muir:
I fear you will set me down as a worthless kind of muggins to be so neglectful of the promise which I gave you that Mrs. G. and I would call and see you again before we left California. I assure you that such was truly our intention and desire. I had the tickets to Martinez in my pocket all the time - and have …

A New Top Notch For The Sons Of Daniel Boone., John Muir
John Muir: A Reading Bibliography by Kimes (Muir articles 1866-1986)
A New Top Notch for the Sons of Daniel Boone JUST as we are going to press I received the following characteristic letter from the great wilderness traveler after whom the gigantic Muir glacier is named. This completes our list of Top Notches. All the representative heroes to whom we have applied have gladly selected a Top Notch for the Sons of Daniel Boone to bear their name. And now, boys, I want every club to elect all of these men honorary members of their fort and make haste to send them each j a letter signed by Davy Crockett, …

Dear Sir:
At the close of a meeting of the Sierra Club, called to consider the proposed Hetch Hetchy Reservoir Site, I met Mr. Pinchot, and after a brief talk in which the subject was outlined, he never having seen it, seemed surprised to learn how important a part of the Yosemite Park the Hetch Hetchy really is. He promised to call if possible after the close of the Irrigation Congress and go over the matter in detail, and advised me to write you in …

My dear Mr. Muir:-
I have recently looked over a number of the specimens which you obtained from the petrified forest last year and from what I have seen of them I would simply verify the statement which I made at your house last [illegible] that they are the remains of large reptiles, generally considered as primitive crocodiles. The most commonly known from of this group is the genus Belodon. The animals are about the same size as the recent crocodiles and have somewhat the same appearance but differ somewhat in the details of structure. …

Asst. G.P.A. Southern Pacific,

Dear Mr. Muir:--
Ever since I visited the Allard herd of buffalo, on the Flathead reservation, I have been impressed with the importance of saving this group of bison for the American people, and I have taken the liberty of placing your name upon a committee for the purpose of setting the wheels in motion which will eventually put this herd in the …
