All Master's Theses
Meriwether Lewis and William Clark led exploration as they followed the waters of the upper Missouri and the Columbia to the Pacific Ocean in 1805, John Jacob Astor in 1811 tried to occupy the coast with trading posts, and finally Nathaniel Jarvis Wyeth in 1832 attempted to start a fur and salmon industry in the southern tributaries of the Columbia River. This paper will examine one of these earliest explorers, Nathaniel Wyeth, whose expeditions helped to open the Pacific Northwest to American settlers.

Agricultural Credit In Nebraska During The Depression Of 1920-1923, Carol A. Valdrighi
Agricultural Credit In Nebraska During The Depression Of 1920-1923, Carol A. Valdrighi
Student Work
The economic collapse of 1920 stunned the Nebraska farmer with its severity. Within a few months it had jolted him from the prosperity and comforts of the middle class into the ranks of the dispossessed. As the deflation ripened into chronic depression and debt became an increasing threat to his economic survival, the farmer was confronted with a credit emergency with few parallels in history. This paper presents an overall view of the Nebraska farmer's credit needs and the response of the credit agoncies, both commercial and governmental, to those needs. Other authors have covered the myriad political and social …

Agriculture In The Fredericksburg Area, Harold J. Muddiman
Master's Theses
This paper is a study of agriculture and rural conditions in the Virginia counties of Caroline, Culpeper, Orange, Spotsylvania, and Stafford from 1800 to 1840. These counties are located in the north-central section of the state. The easternmost of the counties, Caroline, is located on the edge of the Tidewater section; Orange and Culpeper, in the Piedmont, extend to the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The land is generally flat in the east, becomes more rolling as it approaches the mountains. Soils range from sandy loams in Caroline County to the sandy and clay loams with underlying crystalline rock …

The intent of this study was to preserve the historical heritage of a small Canadian community. The thought that in the strength of a community lies the strength of a nation.
The following things were taken into consideration in giving a complete picture of Raymond: (l) The early history which entailed the parts that the Indians, the whoop-up saga, the trader, the trapper, and the Northwest Mounted Police played in the development of Western Canada and Alberta. (2) The desire of the Government to open the western prairies for settlement which brought the Mormon people who were seeking new homes …
