The purpose of this transcendental phenomenological study is to describe the lived experiences of Black students majoring in the mental health field and the perceived influences that challenges have on degree completion at predominantly White institutions (PWIs) in Central Virginia. The theories guiding this study are Tinto’s theory on student departure in higher education and Astin’s theory on student involvement as they relate to White stakeholders supporting Black students at the doctoral level. The purpose of this phenomenological study was to understand the lived experiences of online college students. Reviewed research includes finding that online students perform lower academically than their in-person counterparts and online students suffer a lack of engagement in online learning environments. The theories guiding this study were educational engagement theory and social learning theory. Sociologists and education experts suggest that learning is as social as it is academic in nature. Research data were obtained from current online students on their feelings about instructor interventions to increase engagement. When people think of educational games, they often just think of ones geared towards kids: these might include spelling and vocabulary games like Scribblenauts, creative games such as Minecraft, as well as historical games such as Carmen [Sandiego]’s Ancient Caper, but according to the Entertainment Software Association in 2019, 65% of adults play video games (almost half of which are female), the average gamer is 33 years old, and 63% of all gamers are playing with others at least one hour a week (“Essential Facts” 4, 5, 8). This narrative review synthesizes and analyzes empirical studies on the adoption and acceptance of ChatGPT in higher education, addressing the need to understand the key factors influencing its use by students and educators. Anchored in theoretical frameworks such as the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT), Diffusion of Innovation (DoI) Theory, Technology–Organization–Environment (TOE) model, and Theory of Planned Behavior, this review highlights the central constructs shaping adoption behavior. Of what use is a book about the Harry Potter series that was published before the series was complete? Having taught an upper-division college course on Philosophy in Harry Potter multiple times, I believe that the early publication of Scholarly Studies in Harry Potter actually increases its potential utility in the classroom. Not only does this book include thoughtful and insightful scholarship, but it is also pedagogically valuable. It raises thought-provoking topics that can serve as the basis for research papers and class presentations, as well as providing important resources for students to use while conducting such research.

The higher education system in Oman offers various services to support disabled students to create a positive relationship between students with disabilities, their families, and the community. Both the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Social Development share the responsibility of educating students with disabilities. However, women students with disabilities, particularly those with mobility disabilities, still face challenges within higher education institutions. While Omani law allows women with disabilities to pursue higher education, it is uncertain whether women students with mobility disabilities encounter difficulties in accessing education at higher education institutions. The General Practice National Registrar Survey (GP NRS) is an annual, national survey of GP registrars currently training in Commonwealth funded trainings programs which include Australian General Practice Training (AGPT), Remote Vocational Training Scheme (RVTS) and Rural Generalist Training Scheme (RGTS) programs (prior to 2024, it was only carried out with AGPT registrars). It collects information via an online questionnaire about GP registrar satisfaction, experience and future career plans. Open educational resources (OER) have been praised for revolutionizing education. However, practitioners and instructors battle keeping OER updated and measuring their impact on students’ performance. Few studies have analyzed the improvement of OER over time in relation to achievement. This longitudinal study uses learning analytics through the open-source Resource Inspection, Selection, and Enhancement (RISE) analysis framework to assess the impact of continuous improvement cycles on students’ outcomes. Panel data (i.e., performance and use) from 190 learning objectives of OER of an introductory sociology course were analyzed using a hierarchical linear model. This qualitative phenomenological study explored the experiences of Asian and Asian American women administrators’ career paths in U.S. higher education. The research fills a gap in the literature regarding the careers of Asian and Asian American women administrators. The recruitment process was completed between May 13 and July 9, 2024. Recruitment emails were sent to 25 potentially qualified participants, including a network of 17 people made up of mentors, professors, and colleagues, as well as eight professional associations and LinkedIn. This study investigates the effectiveness of Padlet, a technology-enhanced tool, that supports collaborative and personalized learning, and its success in meeting specific learning outcomes and course objectives. We developed a framework that synthesizes the learning characteristics of technology-enabled collaborative and personalized learning, integrating the strengths of both learning modes. Unlike other studies which typically focus on a single discipline, our framework is evaluated with the use of Padlet across four university courses, spanning three disciplines (Information Systems, Economics and Law). Survey results showed that Padlet enhanced both learning types and achieved the desired outcomes. Linear regression analysis underscored Padlet's effectiveness …

The purpose of this phenomenological study was to describe the doctoral persistence experiences of Black women mathematicians. Guided by McGee’s fragile and robust mathematical identity framework, the research design followed Moustakas’ qualitative transcendental phenomenological approach. The researcher explored the contributing factors to the phenomenon guided by the central research question, “What are the doctoral persistence experiences of Black women mathematicians?” The study involved 11 Black women participants who hold or were within one year of holding a doctoral degree in mathematics and were selected to ensure diversity and representativeness. Research has indicated that food accessibility and cultural food preference play a crucial role in creating a sense of belonging for international students in higher education. The recent Sodexo survey (2019) indicated 83% of international students feel that accessibility to cultural food was an important factor, and 61% indicated that not having access to food that is familiar makes them feel less connected to the community. 2020 marked a surge in the uprisings for racial and social justice in the United States and around the globe. Universities met the moment with aspirations to become antiracist institutions. However, there has often been a disconnect between universities’ antiracist goals and support for educators in their day-to-day instruction. Moreover, many educators – primarily those racialized as White, who have seldom had to consider their racial identity in predominantly White environments – are unfamiliar with antiracist teaching strategies.
