Achieving US state and municipal benchmarks to end the HIV epidemic and promote health equity requires access to comprehensive HIV care. However, this care may not be geographically accessible for all people living with HIV (PLHIV). We estimated county-level drive time and suboptimal geographic accessibility to HIV care across the contiguous US, assessing regional and urban–rural differences. We integrated publicly available data from four federal databases to identify and geocode sites providing comprehensive HIV care in 2015, defined as the co-located provision of core HIV medical care and support services. Leveraging street network, US Census and HIV surveillance data (2014), …

A Multi-Criteria Gis Model For Suitability Analysis Of Locations Of Decentralized Wastewater Treatment Units: Case Study In Sulaimania, Iraq, Ako Rashed Hama, Rafea Hashim Al-Suhili, Zeren Jamal Ghafour
Publications and Research
Sulaimania is a City located in Kurdistan region in the north of Iraq. The city is facing a lack of water, and it will reach a very critical condition shortly. One of the potential solutions is to reuse the treated wastewater for non-direct human uses such as irrigation, washing, firefighting, groundwater recharging, and others. There is no sewage treatment plant in the city. The wastewater flows into a stream through some sewer outlets, and that causes big environmental issues. Decentralized wastewater treatment units (DTUs) are suggested to solve the issue. The treated wastewater will be used for the irrigation of …

Tapestries: Interwoven voices of local and global identities
By exploring placemaking and indigenous memory, this paper argues that space can and should be utilized in movements against oppression. Grassroots resistance is increasingly necessary as the globally marginalized face the constant threats of colonization, incarceration, and fascism. With a grounding in memory studies and a transnational perspective, I analyze Maori movements in Aotearoa New Zealand and American Indian movements in North America in tandem with each other. Charting the histories of dominant space production in these twin contexts allow for a witnessing of each harmful nation-building project. This informed my conclusion that both global solidarities and place-based movements are …
