A Capstone In Education: Current Challenges For Occupational Therapist Clinicians Transitioning To Role Of Academician, Jacie Schneider
A Capstone In Education: Current Challenges For Occupational Therapist Clinicians Transitioning To Role Of Academician, Jacie Schneider
Department of Occupational Therapy Entry-Level Capstone Projects
The doctoral capstone I participated in for my entry-level Doctor of Occupational Therapy program was in a focus area of education with a mentor who was a professor in a master’s program. I supported my mentor in her role as a professor of a physical dysfunction intervention course and had the opportunity to present a module to students on wheelchair seating interventions. Using experience gained during my capstone as well as information learned during the review of literature, I created a guide for OTs interested in making the transition into academia to meet the capstone project requirement.

Graduate Student Dissertations, Theses, Capstones, and Portfolios
Raising a healthy child has its joys and challenges; however, raising a child or caring for someone with special needs brings a new set of obstacles. Parents and caregivers of children and individuals with special needs do not have the same selection of available resources as typical parents of healthy children. These challenges are approached with an entirely different perspective with its own joys and challenges that can be demanding. The purpose of this study was to research the usefulness of an iBook, Navigating Life in the World of Disabilities, by providing accurate and helpful information from an empirical approach …

Library Philosophy and Practice (e-journal)
The university education system aims to preserve and enhance human knowledge by strengthening the research abilities of students, resulting in the promotion of independent learning. These goals cannot be achieved without the help and intervention of an information specialist, as well as faculty. Knowledgeable navigators (e.g. librarians and lecturers) have to locate and evaluate information before passing it on to their students for use. This study sought to examine the link between information literacy skills (ILS) and library patronage. A questionnaire survey was used to collect data from 120 faculty members at the University of Health and Allied Sciences in …

Faculty-Librarian Information Literacy Collaboration, Kimmarie W. Lewis
Faculty-Librarian Information Literacy Collaboration, Kimmarie W. Lewis
Georgia International Conference on Information Literacy
Faculty and librarian collaboration is key in the quest for information literacy. As part of the reaccreditation effort at Lord Fairfax Community College -- a two-year institution in northwestern Virginia -- the QEP Leadership Team sought LFCC Librarians’ assistance in a multifaceted, 5-year, information literacy initiative. This effort included the addition of a librarian to the all-faculty QEP Leadership Team, the redesign of composition courses, and professional development through a new LFCC program: “Seeking the Truth: Faculty-Librarian Collaboration Mini-Grants.”
Data obtained from the mini-grant program show that LFCC faculty engaged in this multifaceted initiative gained an appreciation for collaboration with …
