It is the purpose of this study to determine the reactions of Yakima elementary educators toward television as an aid to instruction. This shall be determined relative to (1) the attitude of those educators toward educational television in general and (2) the opinions of those educators relative to how television may best be used as an instrument of classroom instruction.

Union High School is located in Roosevelt, Utah, on the Uintah and Duchesne county line.

Students come to Union High School from an area of approximately 30 miles radius around Roosevelt. Included in this area is the Ouray and Uintah Indian reservation.

There are approximately 125 full-blood and mixed-blood Indians who should be attending Union High School. The greater majority of these students live on the reservation named above.

Since 1951, when the majority of the Ute Indian students were transferred from the Indian school, there has been a closer association of full-blood Indian, mixed-blood Indian, and white students. With …

Often expressed claims which amounted to a general belief among many of the administrators of the schools of Carbon County were the stimulus for this study. The claims generally expressed were that the Mexican-Indian students of the schools did not have as good ability, did not achieve as well, were poorer attenders, caused a larger amount of difficulty and delinquency and did not adjust to the school society as well proportionately as their co-students of other nationalities. Our interest in the extent and nature of the narcotics problem stems from our experience as a social worker and probation officer over a number of years in trying to supervise narcotic users on probation. However, our interest was crystallized in 1951 at the increased number of such cases appearing in our court since 1950, and we became genuinely alarmed. As a result of staff discussion and interest, we were authorized by the chief probation officer, Richard J. McManus, to study this problem and to conduct a preliminary survey of the problem in the State of Ohio. The study pointed …

Since it is commonly recognized that real estate is the prime source of locally taxable wealth and that assessment values are the only controlled values in the assessment ratio, the problem was (1) to determine whether assessment values in the assessment ratio actually represented assessment values of the county as a whole; (2) to apply the information in (1) above to whether errors were made in determining the true value of locally taxable wealth in Northampton County which could affect the distribution of state educational monies to the county and hence to other localities as well.

The rush to California brought a variety of people. There were the outcasts, the adventurers, the abandoned, the vigorous, the enterprising, and the progressive. They came from the east, south, New England, and the frontier of 1849. Many came from Europe. They came solely for gold. Man were single, many were married. Some never intended to return to their families; others planned on making their fortune and returning quickly. The thought of schools found little place in their minds.

Saunders County, Nebraska, is located in the east-central part of the state and is bounded on the north and east by the Platte River. The country has an area of seven hundred fifty six square miles and contains one hundred ten administrative units or school districts. There has been no change in the organization of the school districts since 1919. From that time to the present time the road conditions and means of transportation have improved to a large degree. The purpose of this study was to survey the commercial curriculum of the high schools of the State of Washington. Of particular emphasis was (1) the number of high school commercial teachers employed; (2) commercial subjects offered, grade level at which offered, and total semesters offered; (3) the availability of business machines; (4) commercial courses least needed, and (5) commercial course subjects that could be added. This survey reveals the common characteristics of the commercial departments of the high schools at this time.
