Reverend Raymond Adkins was born on May 15, 1910, in Louisa, Kentucky. His family moved to West Virginia in 1911. Rev. Adkins had many vocations including working in coal mining, teaching, school administration as a principal, participating in politics, and being a member of the clergy. In his interview, Rev. Adkins discusses the characteristics of Appalachia and Appalachian people and culture. He focuses on one room school houses, Marshall College, Kermit, West Virginia, and Mingo County, West Virginia. In the audio clip provided, Rev. Adkins discusses classroom organization and education in a one room school.

Burl Collins was born on October 25, 1903. He was raised in McDowell County, West Virginia. When he was 15 years old, he started his first job in a coal mine. He worked in this mine for 33 years. Mr. Collins married and had 11 children, including eight girls and three boys. He discusses the social, economic, and technological changes during his lifetime. Teachers are surrounded by educational structures which influence their thinking, planning, and teaching. Significant among these is the existing concepts of school and curriculum organization. These educational concepts of school and curriculum organization. These educational concepts assist or restrict teachers. They assist by emphasizing the significant and relevant; they restrict by emphasizing the insignificant and irrelevant. It is conceivable that as the organization of the school and the curriculum influences teaching so does it influence learning.

Purpose. The purpose of this study was to analyze four types of doctoral field experiences, namely mono-based, dyad-based, triad-based, and multi-based, to determine their feasibility and effectiveness in the preparation of educational administrators and supervisors. Taken in sequential order the four types of field experiences place one doctoral intern in a school system, pair two doctoral interns, pair two doctoral interns with a university professor or refer to three or more doctoral interns in educational administration or supervision assigned to a field station for the purpose of on-the-job training and interaction. Helen Adams was born on January 13, 1898, and was raised in Strange Creek, West Virginia. She lived on a farm with her family. She was one of seven children and her parents also raised two other boys who were orphaned. During her interview, Mrs. Adams discusses working on the farm, raising livestock, and preserving food. She discusses going to church and attending social events like box suppers and socials. She also focuses on folk medicine and the uses of alcohol for medicine and recreational purposes.

The Effect Of Special Class Placement And Remediation On The Self-Concept Of The Learning Disabled Child, Marianne Seibert

Results of this study do seem to indicate that learning disabled children enrolled in a heterogeneously grouped classroom develop appraisals of self in academic areas separate from a more general, overall perception of self. If this is the case, estimates of a global self-concept may cloud important differences in the individual components of self-concept.

During the 1973 Legislative Session, LB 314 was introduced to the Eighty-Third Legislature. It provided for an act to amend Section 79-4102, Reissue Revised Statutes of Nebraska, 1943, relating to schools to provide the maximum non-resident tuition rate and to repeal the original section. LB 314, which would have provided a maximum non-resident tuition rate, was heard by the Education Committee on March 12, 1973, and indefinitely postponed on April 3, 1973.

Instead, all fifty states operate by a system of local school districts, intermediate units and state departments of education. Ultimate control of education rests with the state constitution and the state legislature. Edward C. Jackson was born on January 17, 1911, in Canfield, Braxton County, WV. In 1926, he moved to Fenwick, Nicholas County, WV, to pursue jobs in saw mills. In his interview, Mr. Jackson describes in great detail the design and structure of the log home he lived in as a child.
