Effect Of Feedback On Selected Teaching Behaviors Of Agricultural Teacher Educators., Walter Stephen Woodley

LSU Historical Dissertations and Theses

This study was conducted to determine the impact of student feedback upon the teaching behavior of agricultural teacher educators. An experimental pretest posttest control group design was used for the study. Ninety-seven agricultural teacher educators were surveyed and 62 (63.9%) agricultural teacher educators and their students participated on both the initial and final assessment. A modification of the Tuckman Teacher Feedback Form (TTFF) was used to measure the agricultural teacher educators' self-perceptions and their students' perceptions. The TTFF measures four dimensions of teaching behavior: creativity, dynamism, organized demeanor, and warmth and acceptance. The multivariate analysis of variance (MANOVA) and the …

The Effects Of Clinical And Traditional Supervision Methods On The Satisfaction Levels Of Higher And Lower-Order Need Teachers, George James Cameron Edd

Dissertations

The researcher in this study sought to examine the relationship between clinical and traditional supervision models and teacher need strength. The problem that this study addressed can best be stated in the form of a question: What (if any) effect does clinical and traditional supervision have on the satisfaction levels of higher and lower-order need teachers? The study which extended from October, 1983, through February, 1984, was a field experiment conducted in fifteen school districts in southern California. The sample consisted of 157 teachers--74 supervised via clinical methods and 83 by traditional approaches. The study also included 10 clinical and …

Effects Of Comparison/Contrast Writing Instruction On The Reading Comprehension Of Tenth-Grade Students, Catherine Anne Baker

All-Inclusive List of Electronic Theses and Dissertations

This study investigated the influence of writing instruction on the reading comprehension of tenth-grade students. Although research has shown that instruction in the recognition of text structure can increase reading comprehension significantly and although it has been assumed that improvement in writing skill would improve reading skill as well, there has been little empirical research concerned with the actual influence of writing instruction. Thus, this study combined both ideas by attempting to determine the effect of writing instruction in text structure on reading comprehension. This study employed eight classes of tenth-grade students taught by four teachers in two high schools. …

New Jersey V. T.L.O.: The Supreme Court’S Lesson On School Searches, Gerald S. Reamey

Faculty Articles

Considerable disagreement persists as to the fourth amendment rights of students within schools. Particularly, this disagreement regards the extent to which fourth amendment rights possessed by students may frustrate reasonable attempts by educators to maintain the order necessary to preserve an educational environment.

In New Jersey v. T.L.O., the Supreme Court considered an argument advanced by the State of New Jersey that the “pervasive supervision” of school children diminishes the legitimate expectation of privacy a child may have in property “unnecessarily” brought to school. The Court concluded that the necessity of maintaining security and order in the educational environment was …

Spanish Language Learning As A Determinant Of Knowledge Of Hispanic Culture In Secondary Schools, Carl R. Balado

Electronic Theses and Dissertations 1980 - 1989

The purpose of the study was to determine if the learning of the Spanish language is a determinant of knowledge of Hispanic culture in secondary schools. The consulted literature provided a dichotomy of opinion regarding the generally accepted statement that foreign language instruction does automatically afford students an opportunity to become aware of the cultural aspects of the targeted group in comparison to students who had never studied a foreign language. However, the literature also indicated that this assumption has not been substantiated by research. A total of 408 students (204 Spanish language students and 204 non-Spanish language students) from …
