The Teacher As Liberator: An Analysis Of The Philosophy Of Education Of Friedrich Nietzsche (1973), Ann Margaret Sharp Jan 1973

The Teacher As Liberator: An Analysis Of The Philosophy Of Education Of Friedrich Nietzsche (1973), Ann Margaret Sharp

Collected Papers of Ann Margaret Sharp

This dissertation will be an exegesis of the educational thought of Friedrich Nietzsche with the central focus on his conception of the teacher as liberator. This will involve an analysis of his conception of freedom, an analysis which involves a grasp of his philosophy as a whole. Nietzsche never wrote a systematic educational philosophy. Yet, in a certain sense, education is his primary concern. "I teach you the overman. Man is something that shall be overcome.... The overman is the meaning of the earth." In Nietzsche's view, the conscious production of the overman, a person who is characterized by a …

Student Conduct Regulations, Arthur J. Marinelli Jr. Jan 1973

Student Conduct Regulations, Arthur J. Marinelli Jr.

Cleveland State Law Review

The law relating to university students in their relationships with their schools has been undergoing rapid change as students have sought judicial relief when subjected to disciplinary action by universities. The courts have, in recent years, applied constitutional standards in reviewing the action of university officials with respect to the form of student conduct regulations, student expression, and disciplinary proceedings in the tax-supported university. Judicial abstention was once the rule, historically based upon a number of varying theories. Attendance at a university was once regarded as a "privilege," and regulation of student action has been upheld on this theory as …

J. Bracken Lee And Utah Public Education, Elwin Lee Reynolds

Theses and Dissertations

The purpose of this thesis is to examine the two gubernatorial terms of J. Bracken Lee, Governor of Utah 1948-1956, and the effect he had on education during these years. Lee has been accused by his detractors of being opposed to education. He has been defended by his supporters as being a friend whose only desire was to have education operated on a sound fiscal basis. During his two terms as governor he was almost constantly involved in some dispute with the education people in the state and was frequently on the defensive against anti-education charges.

A Study Of Selected Walt Disney Screenplays And Films And The Stereotyping Of The Role Of The Female, Jerry P. Houseman

University of the Pacific Theses and Dissertations

Given this large involvement that children have with motion pictures, an educator is moved to inquire into the possible effects that movies might have upon them. It, therefore, seems appropriate that an educational dissertation be undertaken concentrating on Disney Production films, since as indicated by the foregoing, they are so universally viewed by American children.

Statement of the problem:

This study attempted to (1) analyze the five screenplays listed on page 6, (2) show two Disney films based on the screenplays analyzed to groups of children and administer a questionnaire to them. The investigator used the obtained data to determine …

The investigator examined landmark cases such as Tinker v Des Moines Independent Community School District in order to depict the historical development of extending constitutional rights to secondary school students.

The study encompasses both landmark cases (those cases involving highly significant decisions that established a precedent) and relevant cases which led to the present judicial posture regarding secondary students' right to free expression. Findings of the case study reveal the present judiciary standard to rest on the application …
