Purpose. The purpose of the study was to determine if relationships existed between (1) the observed leader behavior of the school principal as seen by representative teachers and the self concepts of those same teachers, (2) principal self concept and teacher self concept, (3) principal self concept and principal leader behavior, and (4) the way teachers with high self esteem perceived the leadership behavior of the principal and the way teachers with low self esteem perceived the leadership behavior of the same principal. The specific objective of this research was to determine the effectiveness of training on understanding empathy in the teacher training process.

Subjects were Utah State University students enrolled in Elementary Education during winter quarter 1976. The experimental group was composed of 34 subjects and the control group of 27 subjects.

Both groups were administered a pretest. The experimental group then received the treatment which consisted of a training program designed to help them to be able to (1) define, (2) recognize instances of, and (3) to emit empathic behavior. The Public Relations Practices Of Directors Of Institutes Of Religion Of The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter-Day Saints In California, 1974-75, Ronald Charl Louw

Seventy-five directors of the Institutes of Religion of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in California, responded to a questionnaire regarding their public relations' practices. Institute directors with formal training in public relations utilized more practices, an average of 30.4, than directors without formal training who used an average of 26.9 practices. Institute directors in different locations (divisions) did not differ in the average number of practices used. Seventeen percent of the directors had structured public relations' programs. Directors emphasized more frequently public relations practices relating to priesthood leaders (72 percent) and students (67 percent) than practices relating …

A student's cognitive achievement may be facilitated or repressed by various elements that constitute his affective character; his feelings, attitudes, and expectations form a substantial relationship with achievement. Rather than limiting themselves to evaluating those cognitive areas that relate with various measures of achievement, the administrators and staff members at the New Community School (NCS) have specified a desire to investigate and measure both the attitudes toward school and the self held by their attending students. This interview was conducted by Prof. Donald Raichle in preparation for his book From a Normal Beginning: the Origins of Kean College of New Jersey, printed in 1980. It’s a transcript between Guy V. Bruce and Raichle.

Guy Bruce was a chairman of the Science Department at New Jersey State Normal School/Teachers College (a two-year teaching program, that became Newark State College, and then eventually Kean) from 1932-1951. He greatly improved the science education at the school, and one of the many ways he was recognized for this was a building named after him: "Bruce Hall".

Against the prevailing "return to nature" educational philosophy of his day, Nietzsche stressed sublimation, the active redirecting of one's life energy or the channeling of one's power in the service of creativity, and the inevitability of suffering as essential in the attainment of free­dom. The current educational practice which mitigates the importance of sublimation and suffering were, in his view, a subversive tactic of the German State to keep the reins on individual autonomy and creativity and insure conformity to the status quo.

The major purpose of the study was to investigate whether intermediate grade students who do unsatisfactory written assignments can learn to be more successful in written work as a result of a program which teaches the skills of written expression. A secondary purpose of the study was to determine whether teachers with varied backgrounds could successfully use the pre recorded program with a minimum of in-service training.
