The Language Of Relationships In Christian Education, Robert E. Rediehs

Bachelor of Divinity

Our Church has been accused of intellectualism. Our educational efforts are said to have produced a "confirmation complex,” resulting in a false understanding of the Christian faith. However, in actual practice the Church teaches both by its words and by its non-verbal setting. It is thought that it would be helpful to study this nonverbal context, especially in terms of relationships. As a suggestion for a partial remedy this thesis explores the media of personal relationships for education.

Friction Points In Church-State Relations In The United States, Carl S. Meyer Jul 1957

Friction Points In Church-State Relations In The United States, Carl S. Meyer

Concordia Theological Monthly

The encroachments of aggressive churches, especially the Roman Catholic Church, and the voraciousness of power-hungry governmental agencies are dominant trends in church-state relations in the United States. Education remains the largest single area in which conflicts arc found. Augusta, Maine, and Hartford, Conn., can bear ample testimony to this fact. However, there are other aspects of the question. The conflicts touch family relations, race relations, labor relations. Conflict arises from a desire to promote social reform, as in Ohio by the demands of pastors for antigambling legislation.

An obvious reason was the anticipation of another visit to their attractive and thoughtfully furnished home and the good meal that always awaited us. That was thirty years ago. But there were other reasons why I enjoyed visiting the Bateses. They were intelligent and consecrated members of my little parish. Mrs. Bates had worked and prayed for forty years that her …

Finally, toward the close of the past school year, he announced his resignation as effective at the end of the …
