The Effects Of A Social Skills Training Program On Interpersonal Communications In Parent Adolescent Dyads, Patrick Sean Noble
All Graduate Theses and Dissertations, Spring 1920 to Summer 2023
The purpose of this thesis was two fold. First, there was an experiment in which the independent variable was the behavioral skill levels of parents and their adolescents on a social skills training program and the dependent variable was the parent and adolescent perceptions of their interpersonal relationship regarding communication and problem solving. Second, there was an experiment comparing instructional styles wherein the independent variable was the length of time used to present the social skills training program and the dependent variable was the resulting scores on the behavioral measures of the program. A modified pretest -post-test control group design …

The Evolution Of The "Schlemiel" Hero In The Works Of Woody Allen, Marilyn Konigsberg
The Evolution Of The "Schlemiel" Hero In The Works Of Woody Allen, Marilyn Konigsberg
Student Work
The genesis of this paper is a twenty-year tracking of Woody Allen’s career born out of my fascination with a five-foot-five, one-hundred-twenty-five-pound, red-headed, Jewish, intellectual comic. He was searching for his identity in the 1960’s, when being ethnic and neurotic was not only fashionable but mandatory. My interest was heightened in those early days after seeing him preform as a stand-up comic at the Bitter End in New York and learning that he changed him name from Konigsberg to Allen while I changed my name to Konigsberg.

Communication Tendencies Of Senior Dental Students., David G. Dunning, Brian M. Lange
Communication Tendencies Of Senior Dental Students., David G. Dunning, Brian M. Lange
Journal Articles: College of Dentistry
Although the importance of dentist-patient communication is generally recognized, the dental literature does not specify what interpersonal behaviors can be used as a basis for evaluating dental students' communication skills. A set of behaviors based on clinical observations is described, and an evaluation of 25 senior students' behavioral skills is presented. Students often did not: (1) spend much time orienting patients before beginning treatment; (2) update medical histories; (3) ask patients if they had any questions before beginning treatment; (4) explain the operation and use of equipment; (5) forewarn patients about uncomfortable procedures; (6) attend to signs of patient discomfort; …

A Screening Test For Anomia In Children, Danni Odom-Winn
A Screening Test For Anomia In Children, Danni Odom-Winn
Theses and Dissertations
It is essential for success in American society that people speak, read, and write well. Educators are mandated with the early diagnosis and correct of problems that detract from these essential competencies. Inadequacies in the formative years, if not correct, become virtually irreversible in later years.
It is generally held that object-naming begins between 12-24 months of age (Bloom and Lahey, 1978). This is the corner stone of communication. A deficiency at this stage of development will severely limit a child's communicative skills throughout his or her entire life.

An Experimental Analysis Of Generative Manding In Preschool Children, W. Guy Tidwell
An Experimental Analysis Of Generative Manding In Preschool Children, W. Guy Tidwell
University of the Pacific Theses and Dissertations
This study examined the development of mands for missing objects. Two female children and two male children (ranging from 2 years, 1 month to 3 years, 5 months) were selected on the basis of screening probes that indicated an absence of manding. A mand probe consisted of instructions to complete a response chain when one of the needed objects was missing. For every response chain, each child was:. (a) taught to label (tact) the objects, (b) then taught to use the objects in reinforced response chains, and (c) then given mand probes for the stimuli just trained.

The Design And Implementation Of A Speech, Drama, And Communications Course For Junior High Students, Virginia H. Miller
Abraham S. Fischler College of Education ETD Archive
A semester elective fine arts course for junior high students in speech, drama, and communications was designed and implemented by the author for a private Christian day school in a metropolitan Florida city. The school serves 630 students in grades kindergarten-four through nine. The project's goals were to expand the school's fine arts program, to address the personal needs of the adolescent, and to increase the interactions between the school's junior high and primary and elementary students.
Following preliminary activities to assess and evaluate present skills, needs, and interests, students proceeded through sequence of activities to achieve objectives in four …

Advanced Technology Transfer Of Gerontological Training--Linkage Final Report Volume 1, Theodore Lane, Ronald Crowe
ISER Reports
This project was designed to demonstrate how centrally based advanced telecommunications can be used to efficiently and economically train older Alaskans Commission project staffs (or other personnel) located in remote communities. This project used Alaska's Satellite Communications System to provide training to eight remote communities in Alaska from a central training station in Anchorage. Researchers used three training modes: (1) audioconferencing (via telephone), (2) audioconferencing with a videotape and workbook, and (3) televised audioconferencing. A total of fifty-six people participated in the demonstration, with an average of twenty-four attending each session. The project demonstrated that: 1. Training can effectively be …
