It is likely that "We all use open-source and probably don't even realize it, but we also use it for different reasons. You might use open-source information to do a credibility check and to find out more about the person selling you something on Facebook marketplace." Others "may research someone… met on a dating app or before hiring someone for a job." Every use …

For Patients’ Sake! Can We Get Some Clarity? Defending The Privilege And Confidentiality Of Patient Safety Work Product, Alyssa Boob
Dickinson Law Review (2017-Present)
In 2000, the Institute of Medicine published To Err is Human: Building a Safe Health System, a report revealing the shocking rate of medical errors plaguing the United States healthcare system. Faced with the horrifying consequences of these medical mishaps, Congress sprang into action. It enacted the Patient Safety and Quality Improvement Act of 2005 (PSQIA), which authorized the creation of Patient Safety Organizations (PSOs). Intended to increase transparency and communication amongst healthcare providers, PSOs collect provider medical error data—termed Patient Safety Work Product (PSWP)—and suggest areas of improvement.

INTRODUCTION: Internal Medicine residents in The United States of America (USA) need to demonstrate competency in the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) core areas to meet training requirements. Two of these core competencies are professionalism and interpersonal/communication skills. Medical humanities can positively influence trainee development by cultivating these skills. There is limited literature on the use of art-based programs to enhance communication and professionalism skills among residents aside from the original FRAME workshop. We have designed a six-part series called "Using Art for Professionalism and Communication Skills in Medical Education" (UAPCMedEd) that implements visual arts training strategies to …

Music is a form of communication, whether expressing emotion, telling a story, or delivering information. Communication is widely used in music. This communication takes place by conveying ideas through the sound produced by performers. This form of musical communication cues the audience into the messages, information, and emotions the composers intended. However, when text or spoken word is implemented into music, how does this affect the communication, and how can this be analyzed? This paper explores the history of music and spoken word, explains applicable communication theories, and finally applies these theories to music with spoken word, emphasizing percussion.

This presentation addresses how librarians can use negotiation skills to empower themselves, as well as highlight their expertise, enhance student learning, and raise awareness of library services. The negotiation techniques and outcomes presented provide participants with strategies, talking points and authentic …
