Best Communication Practices For Nontraditional Students In The Rn-Bsn Online Program, Belinda Kaye Nix

Theses and Dissertations

Research was conducted to determine the best communication practices for nontraditional students in the RN-BSN online program in hopes of building rapport and ultimately improving retention rates. Data for the research was obtained from an anonymous survey of recent University of Arkansas at Little Rock RN-BSN graduates, one individual interview, and an auto ethnographic approach. The auto ethnographic approach includes my personal accounts of practices in advising RN-BSN students. The results show rapport and connectedness can increase with the use of personalized videos, routine check-ins with students, positive communication, and more transparency.

The IOM has made a call to action that healthcare professionals must exhibit patient-centered care in interdisciplinary team settings to achieve high-quality care. At a community resource program in the mid-Atlantic region, a recent qualitative job satisfaction survey revealed that employees identified issues with interprofessional collaboration and a lack of teamwork at the facility. Using the Iowa Model, this EBP project involves the use of a cohort study with a pretest-posttest design, where the …

Communication Capability For A Simulation-Based Test And Evaluation Framework For Autonomous Systems, Ntiana Sakioti Oct 2019

Communication Capability For A Simulation-Based Test And Evaluation Framework For Autonomous Systems, Ntiana Sakioti

Computational Modeling & Simulation Engineering Theses & Dissertations

The design and testing process for collaborative autonomous systems can be extremely complex and time-consuming, so it is advantageous to begin testing early in the design. A Test & Evaluation (T&E) Framework was previously developed to enable the testing of autonomous software at various levels of mixed reality. The Framework assumes a modular approach to autonomous software development, which introduces the possibility that components are not in the same stage of development. The T&E Framework allows testing to begin early in a simulated environment, with the autonomous software methodically migrating from virtual to augmented to physical environments as component development …

The Binding Effects Of Soft Law. Some Remarks From The Eu Competition Law Perspective, Agnieszka Chudyba

internetowy Kwartalnik Antymonopolowy i Regulacyjny (internet Quarterly on Antitrust and Regulation)

The use of EU soft law raises many doubts. On the one hand, the question is whether the legality of soft law acts may be challenged before the European courts. On the other hand, one may wonder to what extent the EU and national institutions should be bound by soft law instruments. The author focuses on this second issue. Firstly, she examines the so-called selfbinding effect of EU soft law as well as its enforcement by the EU courts. Secondly, the author examines whether this binding effect of soft law may be observed at the national level. Competition law is …

Phenomenological Insights Into The Recruitment Process Of International Soccer Student-Athletes, Jonathan David Sutherland Aug 2019

Phenomenological Insights Into The Recruitment Process Of International Soccer Student-Athletes, Jonathan David Sutherland

All Theses

The migration of male international soccer student-athletes to American collegiate institutions has seen an ascending trend of participation popularity. Using a phenomenological research design, I sought to gain an in-depth understanding of how male international soccer student-athletes experienced their recruitment processes with National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I institutions. Seventeen participants from various universities engaged with me in semi-structured in-depth interview conversations. Analysis of the information they shared, suggested five significant themes rooted in the communicative nature of the recruitment process: 1) Social Acceptance, 2) Sense of Belonging, 3) Acceptance vs Rejection, 4) The Incognizant Reality, and 5) Increase …

These two complementary teams often come from different backgrounds, with different technical knowledge, processes, management structures, and deadlines. As these teams continue to collaborate more and more the chance of encountering a conflict also increases. In this research we examine the conflict that can occur between software development and user experience teams and the possible effects on …

Vocal Response Of Bottlenose Dolphins (Tursiops Truncatus) To A Novel Stimulus, Lindsey Johnson Aug 2019

Vocal Response Of Bottlenose Dolphins (Tursiops Truncatus) To A Novel Stimulus, Lindsey Johnson

Master's Theses

Bottlenose dolphins utilize acoustic signals as their primary mode of communication. Although some aspects of dolphin vocal behavior are well understood, less is known about vocalizations in different behavioral contexts and how these vocal behaviors may indicate habituation and sensitization. The focus of this study was to investigate how bottlenose dolphins respond vocally to a novel stimulus. Archival data from three populations of bottlenose dolphins (N = 20) living in a human-care facility were exposed to a novel apparatus (a mirror) for 10 trials, each lasting 20 minutes. Five of the trials presented the mirror covered with an opaque …
