An Analysis Of Telework Performance During The Covid-19 Pandemic, Patrick J. Lopez
An Analysis Of Telework Performance During The Covid-19 Pandemic, Patrick J. Lopez
Theses and Dissertations
The COVID-19 pandemic forced many individuals to shift from an atmosphere of face-to-face work to the digital work environment known as telework. Telework is an effective mitigation tool that ensures the continuity of operations. However, maximized telework may not be effective for all individuals. Many individual, organizational, and group level factors influence one’s telework performance and this study examines four of the most influential antecedents. Using linear regression analysis, conscientiousness, overload, communication, and non-distractibility were found to be significant predictors that account for over half the variance explained in telework performance. Supported by self-regulation theories, both conscientiousness and non-distractibility contained …

Enhancing Success Through Leadership, Wendy T. Jewell
Doctoral Dissertations and Projects
This study sought to obtain a better understanding of how leaders influence the culture of the organization to enhance performance. A post-positive qualitative research case study was conducted at a state agency in the Commonwealth of Virginia. During this study, 13 semi-structured interviews were conducted with agency employees who participated on a project to implement a smart phone fuel application. This fuel application automated specific manual processes related to their fuel management program. While the fuel application project implementation was finishing, the interviews were conducted. During these interviews, participants provided their perspectives on leadership, communication, empowerment, project outcomes, lessons learned, …

Transitions Of Care: Completeness Of The Interoperability Data Standard For Communication From Home Health Care To Primary Care., Edgar Chou, Paulina S Sockolow
Department of Medicine Faculty Papers
Data sharing is necessary to address communication deficits along the transitions of care among community settings. Evidence-based practice supports home healthcare (HHC) patients to see their primary care team within the first two weeks of hospital discharge to reduce rehospitalization risk. A small subset of patient data collected at HHC admission is mandated to be transmitted to primary care, predominantly by fax. Using qualitative analysis, we assessed completeness of the United States Core Data for Interoperability (USCDI) interoperability standard, as compared to the patient data collected by the primary care team (topics) and HHC (classes) during the initial visit; and …
Rationale For The Use Of The Vernacular As A Medium Of Content Transmission In A School Context, Hassan Bouzidi
Rationale For The Use Of The Vernacular As A Medium Of Content Transmission In A School Context, Hassan Bouzidi
Dirassat
The function of communicative factors in a school syllabus is increasingly recognized. This article explores the implications of the use of the vernacular in a Moroccan school contexts for pupils' pedagogical as well as psychological development. Analysis of teachers' reports on the exclusive use of the Standard in a school context reveals concern over the decline inpupil participation in class. There is also evidence of higher rates of pupils’performance when the teacher chooses to switch to the vernacular.
To assist pupils in dealing with problems of subject-matter processing, it is recommended that the vernacular be introduced at the earlier stages …

Globalization, Communication and National Cultures
This introductory lesson deals with the dialectic of the relationship between the globalization of communication and the patriotism of culture, at the level of content and form, and the stakes, and the attendant theoretical and conceptual problems and what this requires of keeping pace with theory and knowledge at the national and international levels.

Communication fatigue is a situation when a person is no longer able to engage in communication. This study, which is one of the very first in the field, determines the antecedents and consequences of communication fatigue among Egyptian school teachers to be used as a guide for decision makers in the educational sector. Communication between teachers and students is fundamental in the learning process and understanding the antecedents and consequences of communication fatigue is meant to improve the communication between teachers and students and positively reflect on the learning process.

Project Management Skills For Highly Successful Virtual Project Teams, Andrea Hogge
Project Management Skills For Highly Successful Virtual Project Teams, Andrea Hogge
Doctoral Dissertations and Projects
Virtual project teams gained wider acceptance in organizations over the past 30 years, supported by improved communications technology and spurred by global competition. Virtual working arrangements provide benefits to employers, employees, and the environment. The COVID-19 pandemic of 2020-2021 stimulated the transition from traditional to virtual project teams. Project management in the virtual environment requires different skills than leading in the collocated environment. Skills that lead to successful project outcomes in the traditional environment do not simply transfer to the virtual environment. Project managers must focus on new skills, especially those that contribute to developing open communication and building trust. …

Narcommunication: The Messaging, Marketing, And Murder Of Organized Crime, Philip L. Johnson
Dissertations, Theses, and Capstone Projects
Criminal actors are widely assumed to maintain a low profile, exerting power through corruption, coercion, and clandestine networks. Scholarship that addresses public action on the part of criminal actors focuses almost exclusively on acts of violence. However, an ample empirical record demonstrates that criminal actors also communicate publicly to broad audiences. To better understand this practice, this project focuses on the phenomenon of narco-messaging in Mexico. The project asks: what do criminal actors say when they speak publicly, and why do they say it?
The core data for this project comes from an original collection of 6,178 narco-messages that appeared …

Policy On The Use Of Social Media In Hospitals In Building Communication During The Covid-19 Pandemic: Literature Review, Rita Kumalasari, Wahyu Sulistiadi
Journal of Indonesian Health Policy and Administration
Social media is necessary for almost everyone, including in health services. During the COVID-19 pandemic, social media was widely used to build hospital communications. However, the benefits come with risks, as communication spreads so quickly. A proper policy is needed. This study aims to determine the benefits of social media in building communication in hospitals and the policies that govern it. The method used is a literature study. A literature search, through Science Direct, ProQuest, Google Scholar, and other databases (Google scholar, NIH/NLM, JMIH), with the keywords "social media" AND "communication" AND “policy” AND "hospital" AND "COVID-19 Pandemic", obtained 520 …

Impact Of Emotional Intelligence On Interprofessional Teamwork, Interprofessional Communication, And Interprofessional Leadership, Kathleen M. Cox
Impact Of Emotional Intelligence On Interprofessional Teamwork, Interprofessional Communication, And Interprofessional Leadership, Kathleen M. Cox
Nursing Theses and Dissertations
Objective: The purpose of this body of work was to explore relationships among emotional intelligence (EI) and interprofessional (IP) competency domains to enhance IP team dynamics and communication.
Background: Decentralization of healthcare delivery may hinder effective handoffs creating opportunity for miscommunication of vital information and subsequent medical errors. Fostering effective communication is paramount for IP teams; however, differing communication styles can promote misunderstanding and conflict. Behavioral aspects of team dynamics and communication that comprise EI may be a solution but are rarely addressed in educational and safety programs.
Methods: Included in this portfolio are three manuscripts that help elucidate …

Adhd In Romantic Relationships: Exploring Relational Dialectics In Mixed-Neurotype Couples, Katherine Dotten
Theses, Dissertations and Capstones
The purpose of this study was to understand the way romantic relationship tensions are communicated between partners in couples affected by Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). Extant research asserts that the presence of ADHD in one relational partner of romantic relationships is associated with relational dissatisfaction, poor relational communication practices, and a higher risk for dissolution of the relationship (Bruner et al., 2015; Eakin et al., 2004; Robin & Payson, 2002). Little effort has been made to understand what can be done to mitigate these risks. The present study focused on the communication practices at work in four cohabiting, romantic …

Enhancing Overall Communication And Onboarding Procedures At Case Management Of The Carolina, Loren Mcneal
Education Projects
Case Management of the Carolina, a young case management organization, serves patients who qualify for community long-term care services. The organization employs less than 10 people but is struggling to retain qualified case managers. Onboarding, communication, and rebranding were some of the surface issues the owner was facing. Tammy Gordon, a previous and experienced case manager, partnered with me to help remedy some of those problems. Survey research and interview research were used to assist in diagnosing the true cause of turnover. Recommendations for new orientation documents were provided to assist with onboarding. Several virtual platforms were recommended to support …
