Around the world COVID-19 has forced governments to take measures that have so far affected education systems, in various ways. Face-to-face interactions have been disrupted in around 70% of educational institutions as per reported by UNESCO (2020). Due to the pandemic, authorities in Paraguay adopted early measures to prevent the spread of the virus which in turn have affected educational institutions greatly. The disproportionate impact of COVID-19 on communities of color in the United States and immense vulnerabilities in lower-income countries has revealed a global health reality that is often overshadowed by decades of progress in overall global health, with new lows in child and maternal deaths every year, more people with HIV receiving access to lifesaving anti-retroviral therapy, and rising life expectancies. Hypoxemia is the most common cause for hospitalization in COVID-19 patients. Acute hypoxemic respiratory failure or acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) is the most common complication in COVID-19 patients. Close monitoring of respiratory decompensation is essential. Supplemental oxygen, high flow nasal canula, non-invasive ventilation and endotracheal intubation are the most commonly suggested methods to improve oxygenation. Early intubation with pre-oxygenation, modified rapid sequence intubation and intubation using a video laryngoscope has been advised as a strategy including lung protective ventilation, prone position ventilation, adequate sedation and extracorporeal membrane oxygenation. This study has been conducted with an aim to investigate the status of the University Libraries of Assam in providing library services through Social Media during lockdown. Structured questionnaire were sent to the University Librarians of 4 Universities of Assam ranked amongst top 100 universities of India in the India Rankings, 2019 by NIRF (National Institutional Ranking Framework). Because business interruption has been the most prominently discussed of these impacts, the second part of this chapter takes a closer look at business interruption insurance. A Time Like No Other: 4-H Youth Development And Covid-19, Mary E. Arnold, Roger A. Rennekamp

Journal of Extension

In this thought leader commentary, we review the potential devastating effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on young people, including trauma, impacts on mental health, socioemotional distress, and changes in academic learning. Stating that 4-H is uniquely positioned to mitigate these effects through intentional positive youth development efforts, we present a call to action for 4-H educators and Extension administrators as we move from initial reaction to recovery and beyond. We recommend four research-based strategies to ensure that youths not only survive, but thrive, in this time like no other.
