Does Your Company Care About The Fears Of Pandemic For Salespeople? Insights From Pandemic Demands And Resources, Ihsan Ullah Jan, Seonggoo Ji, Changju Kim
Asia Marketing Journal
The pandemics (e.g., COVID-19) disrupt the roles of all professionals, particularly those of salespeople. This study seeks to empirically examine how fears amidst the pandemic, as pandemic demands, influence salespeople's attitudinal and behavioral outcomes and how organizational and personal resources as pandemic resources mitigate the negative outcomes for salespeople. Building on the job demands-resources (JD-R) model and employing the partial least squares-based structural equation modeling, this study tested the proposed hypotheses using responses from 237 salespeople in South Korea. The results mainly supported hypotheses. As a major theoretical contribution, this study delineates Pandemic fears in terms of salespeople's fear of …

Long-Term Autoimmune Polyarthritis Due To Covid-19 Vaccine, Ramesh Pandit, Namratha Pallipamu, Trupiti Pandit
HCA Healthcare Journal of Medicine
Background
Vaccinations for COVID-19 have played a pivotal role in controlling the global pandemic, with most adverse events being mild and transient. However, rare post-vaccination autoimmune responses have been reported. The understanding of long-term rheumatologic sequelae, particularly autoimmune polyarthritis following COVID-19 vaccination, remains limited.
Case Presentation
We report the case of a 41-year-old previously healthy man who developed progressive polyarthritis and systemic symptoms following the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine. The initial symptoms of joint swelling and arthralgia appeared within a week of the first vaccine dose, subsiding temporarily with medication. After receiving a booster dose, the patient experienced worsening …

Jurnal Manajemen dan Usahawan Indonesia
This study aims to examine the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on capital structure adjustment among firms in Indonesia, with a focus on differences between Sharia-compliant and non-compliant companies. The research utilizes panel data from non-financial firms listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) during the 2017–2022 period. Capital structure adjustment is analyzed using panel regression methods, controlling for variables such as profitability, growth, firm size, tangibility, liquidity, and income volatility. The findings indicate that the pandemic increased leverage and accelerated capital structure adjustment overall. However, Sharia-compliant firms exhibited a slower adjustment speed compared to non-compliant firms, due to constraints …

The clinical presentation of COVID-19 varies greatly from case to another, with host characteristics playing a pivotal role. The immune system is a pivotal function in establishing the course of SARS-COV-2 infection. Severe instances of COVID-19 and the resulting death are caused less by the virus itself than by the destructive unrestrained immune response. Among the host determinants for poor disease prognosis is probably genetic vulnerability to dysregulated immune response. The objective of this work is to examine some of the host genetic variables that are being studied in relation to the severity of COVID-19. The complex relationship between autoimmunity …

BACKGROUND:
Procalcitonin (PCT) is a glycoprotein calcitonin prohormone released by the thyroid parafollicular cells. In case of a microbial infection, PCT synthesis can be stimulated by the elevation of proinflammatory cytokines, including interleukin-6, interleukin-1b, and tumor necrosis factor-
α
. These mediators are massively involved in the so-called cytokine storm, typical of the progression from the viremic to the hyperinflammatory stage of COVID-19 and characterized by the onset of respiratory symptoms and interstitial pulmonary infiltrates. Thus, PCT elevation may represent a direct consequence of the COVID-19 cytokine storm and could also be interpreted as a “viral sepsis” syndrome.

The transmission of infectious airborne pathogens has severe implications on human health and economic stability. This is evidenced by the re-emergence of global pandemics with high mortality rates, various respiratory diseases, crop damage, incurred nationwide financial costs, etc. These causative pathogens, encompassing viruses, fungal spores, etc., attach to aerosol and droplet particles, enabling their aerial dispersal and leading to a cascade of detrimental events. Developing interventions to control pathogenic transmission requires an in-depth understanding of the various modes of disease transmission. However, existential gaps within the respective disease transmission modalities remained. For instance, while viruses are predominantly transmitted via aerosols, …

INTRODUCTION: Resuscitative transesophageal echo (rTEE) is a promising adjunct to cardiac arrest resuscitation. However, it is a high-acuity diagnostic tool that is rarely used in this setting and its safety establishment is limited because of low occurrence. High-acuity, low occurrence skills such as rTEE during cardiac arrest inevitably decay. In this study we examined the content and percentage of rTEE skill decay following simulation-based education (SBE).
METHODS: Resuscitative TEE-naïve emergency physicians (EP) were trained using a combination of clinical exposure, web-based didactics, and monthly hands-on sessions with a high-fidelity rTEE simulator for four months. The COVID-19 pandemic created a natural …

The power of computational modeling and simulation (M&S) is realized when the results are credible, and the workflow generates evidence that supports credibility for the context of use. The Committee on Credible Practice of Modeling & Simulation in Healthcare was established to help address the need for processes and procedures to support the credible use of M&S in healthcare and biomedical research. Our community efforts have led to the Ten Rules (TR) for Credible Practice of M&S in life sciences and healthcare. This framework is an outcome of a multidisciplinary investigation from a wide range of stakeholders beginning in 2012. …
