Turkish Journal of Earth Sciences
The Kaladgi Basin of the Dharwar Craton, southeast India, hosts Proterozoic unconformity-related uranium (U) mineralization controlled by faulted contacts between Archean basement and Proterozoic cover sediments. To understand the ore-forming processes, 25 core samples from the Cave Temple Arenite were analyzed using whole-rock geochemistry and fluid inclusion microthermometry. U concentrations reach up to 0.13% U3O8 in the basal arenite and lower conglomerate, whereas the basement schist records only 0.0017% U. Whole-rock data reveal high SiO2 contents (72–97 wt.%), variable Al2O3 (0.4–12.9 wt.%), and enrichments in U (0.38–6.63 ppm), Th (1.5–13.7 ppm), and trace elements such as Cu, Pb, and Ni …

Integrated Application Of Hydrogen Sulphide And Gibberellic Acid Enhances Salinity Stress Tolerance In Wheat (Triticum Aestivum L.), Houneida Attia, Khalid H. Alamer
Baghdad Science Journal
This study investigated the role of exogenously applied hydrogen sulfide (HS; 50 μM) and gibberellic acid (GA; 200 mg L1) in alleviating salt stress (100 mM NaCl) in wheat. The applied HS and GA significantly improved plant height, biomass, chlorophyll and carotenoids, with the highest enhancement under their combined application. Salt stress markedly increased hydrogen peroxide, methylglyoxal, lipid peroxidation, lipoxygenase and NADPH oxidase, whereas HS and GA treatment reduced these effects. Both HS and GA further enhanced proline and sugar accumulation, increased γ -glutamyl kinase activity, and decreased proline oxidase. Activities of antioxidant enzymes and the glyoxalase …

Processing poultry slaughterhouse wastewater as a biogas substrate is a sustainable solution. The current study aimed to optimize methane production from poultry slaughterhouse wastewater at various hydraulic retention times, biochar addition levels, and biochar addition types. Optimization of the anaerobic digestion process was determined through response surface methodology with central composite design. The input variables were hydraulic retention times (10, 20, and 30 days), biochar levels (5, 10, and 15 g/L), and biochar types (chicken litter and rice straw). Meanwhile, the response variable was methane production. The results revealed that the resulting central composite design model was significant (p < 0.05) with an R-squared of 0.94, indicating a high model suitability. The analysis of variance showed that hydraulic retention times, biochar levels, and biochar types significantly affected methane production (p < 0.05). Based on optimization, the highest methane production was achieved at a 30-day hydraulic retention times, a biochar level of 15 g/L, and a biochar type of rice straw, which was 473.00 mL/g volatile solid. These results emphasize the importance of determining the correct hydraulic retention times and biochar addition (level and type) to optimize methane production.

Quantum Chemical Calculations On The Inhibition Of Mild Steel Corrosion In Acidic Medium Using Phenylpropanoids Of Alpinia Galanga, Maimoonah Khalid Qasim
Baghdad Science Journal
Mild steel protection against acid-related degradation requires corrosion inhibition methods as its primary safeguarding approach. The study evaluated phenylpropanoid compounds of Alpinia galanga as corrosion inhibitors through density functional theory (DFT) calculations to determine their inhibitory effectiveness. This paper conducted studies to determine which parts of the corrosion inhibitors served as active sites while analyzing their inhibiting effects. DFT calculations helped identify the locations where inhibitors acted as active sites. The experimental results demonstrated important distinctions in the total corrosion inhibition ability between the various phenylpropanoids present in Alpinia Galanga compounds. The experimental potentiodynamic polarization tests demonstrated inhibition efficiencies (IE) …

Supporting Multilingual Learners Through Culturally Responsive Practices, Betsy Twedell
Graduate Teacher Education
This literature review examined how educational leaders can implement culturally responsive practices to support multilingual learners, improve academic achievement, encourage a sense of belonging, and advance equitable educational outcomes. A total of sixteen qualitative, quantitative, and mixed-methods studies were reviewed, along with two conceptual studies that provided additional guidance. Three recurring themes emerged: culturally and linguistically responsive practices, professional development, and Multi-Tiered Systems of Supports (MTSS). The research suggested that multilingual learners were best supported when educators viewed students’ languages, cultures, identities, and lived experiences as academic assets and integrated these resources into instruction. Findings also showed that professional development …

Leaving Home: Archivists Teaching Outside Their Home Departments, Claire Du Laney Dunker, Lori Schwartz
Criss Library Faculty Proceedings & Presentations
Dunker and Schwartz at the University of Nebraska at Omaha were curious about experiences of archivists teaching outside the archives, inspired by teaching a new public history course for the history department. There is little existing scholarship about archivists teaching credit-bearing courses outside the library. Existing literature focuses on pedagogical practices for history faculty teaching courses, archivists teaching “one-shots”, and collaborations between teaching faculty and archivists for class assignments. To fill this gap, we created a survey to gather opinions and preferences about teaching credit-bearing courses as part of, or adjacent to, professional responsibilities in academic libraries and archives.

Structural And Hamiltonian Properties Of The N–Array Unit Graphs Over Finite Rings, Puguh Wahyu Prasetyo, Muhammad Ardiyansyah, Joe Repka
Baghdad Science Journal
Consider a finite ring R, and let U( R ) denote the set of all its unit elements. The unit graph G_R of R is defined as follows: the vertex set V( G_R ) consists of all elements of R. Two distinct elements a,\ b∈ \ G_R are adjacent if and only if a + b∈ U( R ). Recent research has provided necessary and sufficient conditions for the unit graph G_R to have a Hamiltonian cycle. However, the property of Hamiltonicity under direct product constructions of rings has not been fully understood. This paper addresses this gap by studying …

Approximation Of Bi-Continuous Semigroups In The Trotter-Kato Framework: Application To Diffusion Equations With Non-Local Boundary Conditions, Abdulhameed Qahtan Abbood Altai
Baghdad Science Journal
This study develops and practically reformulates the Trotter–Kato theorem for the approximation of bi-continuous semigroups defined on Banach spaces with weaker locally convex Hausdorff topologies. This method extends the Trotter–Kato framework to semigroups with weak continuity by moving the analysis from the classical norm topology to a weaker topology. Equivalence and approximation conditions are derived without requiring explicit computation of resolvents, replacing them with T-stability and T-consistency properties. This new reformulation of the Trotter–Kato theorem provides a direct method for establishing convergence between approximating and limit semigroups, thereby simplifying both theoretical proofs and numerical analysis. The suggested framework …

Mass Transfer Control In Chitosan-Based Hybrid Material Incorporating Pyromellitic Dianhydride And Copper Oxide Nanoparticles: Intraparticle Diffusion And Boyd Model Analysis, Arwa Raad Ibrahim, Basma A. Abdul Majeed, Sanaa A. Al-Sahib
Baghdad Science Journal
The accelerated development of new technologies for treating pollutants has led to the emergence of numerous innovative adsorbents. These materials typically possess promising structural and surface properties suitable for a variety of applications. In the same context, the present study prepared a chitosan-based hybrid material incorporating pyromellitic dianhydride and copper oxide nanoparticles (PMDA-Cts-CuO) under ultrasonic wave conditions. It is a newly synthesized material derived from an organically degradable source for lead removal purposes. Following the confirmation of the material's structural and morphological properties, the current research effort focused on examining the PMDA-Cts-CuO for diffusion kinetic models: the intraparticle diffusion model, …

Surface Wave Propagation At The Interface Between An Inviscid Liquid Layer And A Rotating Micropolar Elastic Solid With Stretch, Somaiah Kamidi, Narsimharao Kandula, Venkateswara Rao Burugu, Gaddam Rajkumar, Srinivas Remidi
Baghdad Science Journal
This article investigates the impact of angular rotation on surface-wave propagation at the interface between an inviscid liquid layer and a rotating micropolar elastic solid with stretch. The surface-wave secular equation is obtained analytically using the plane-harmonic solution method after the mathematical model has been developed. It is noticed that for symmetric modes of surface waves, the liquid effects and the micro-stretch do not manifest simultaneously. Using MATLAB software, the impacts of the solid's angular rotation and the liquid layer's thickness on the symmetric mode of surface waves are illustrated for a specific model. The velocity of surface waves at …

Pre-Nursing Students' Reflections Of The Most Useful Success Strategies: A Qualitative Study, Regina W. Urban, Leslie A. Jennings
International Nursing Research Congress (INRC)
Background: Initiatives to address the US nursing shortage include increasing enrollment, standardizing education, and supporting student success (American Association of Colleges of Nursing, 2024; Spector et al., 2022). Despite reports of poor study habits and difficulty adapting to science courses, few studies examine study and time management strategies in pre-nursing students (Felicilda-Reynaldo et al., 2017). Mindfulness-based programs improve mental health outcomes in nursing students (Aloufi et al., 2021); yet research on mindfulness programs with pre-nursing students is lacking. Identifying success strategies pre-nursing students find useful is key to improving academic retention (Shelton, 2012). Therefore, this study aimed to qualitatively explore …
