Staff Education To Enhance Clinical Staff Knowledge Of Medication Adherence Strategies In Bipolar Disorder, George Niyi Ojewale Aug 2026

Staff Education To Enhance Clinical Staff Knowledge Of Medication Adherence Strategies In Bipolar Disorder, George Niyi Ojewale

Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies

Medication nonadherence in bipolar disorder is a significant contributor to relapse, hospitalization, and functional decline. This doctor of nursing practice (DNP) staff education project addressed a practice gap at the project site involving inconsistent clinician knowledge and absence of a standardized approach to adherence education. The practice-focused question for this project was: How does implementing an evidence-based staff educational program improve clinical staff knowledge in supporting medication adherence in patients with bipolar disorder? The purpose of this project was to implement a structured, evidence-based educational intervention to improve clinician knowledge related to medication adherence strategies. The intervention consisted of a …

Electrical Leaders’ Effective Strategies To Reduce Workplace Fatalities And Injuries, Amy Clark Aug 2026

Electrical Leaders’ Effective Strategies To Reduce Workplace Fatalities And Injuries, Amy Clark

Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies

Workplace electrical safety programs help reduce injuries and fatalities, yet some U.S. electrical leaders who manage safety programs and oversee safety issues lack effective strategies to sustain safe environments to reduce electrical accidents. Grounded in Heinrich’s incident/accident pyramid theory and behavior-based safety theory, this qualitative pragmatic inquiry explored strategies used by six electrical leaders who successfully reduced workplace incidents. Data were collected through semistructured interviews and document analysis and analyzed using Castleberry and Nolen’s inductive thematic approach. Key themes included hazard identification, controls, personal protective equipment and inspections, common challenges (time, resistance, complacency), communication and engagement, safety culture and leadership, …

Workplace Loneliness And The Impact Of Social Connections In Distributed Teams, Belkys Stallings Aug 2026

Workplace Loneliness And The Impact Of Social Connections In Distributed Teams, Belkys Stallings

Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies

Workplace loneliness is a growing organizational challenge as the rise of distributed teams reshapes opportunities for social connection and engagement. Business leaders need to understand this challenge because it is associated with reduced belonging, lower job satisfaction, diminished productivity, and increased turnover intentions. The purpose of this quantitative correlational study was to examine the extent to which distributed team environments (remote, hybrid, or flexible) impacted workplace loneliness and whether social connectedness moderated this relationship. Social exchange theory, self-determination theory, and Weiss’s concept of loneliness grounded this study. The participants comprised 84 adults working full-time in distributed team environments across the …

Socioeconomic Determinants Of Malaria Infection Among Pregnant Women In Cameroon, Sub-Saharan Africa, Arnold Akosah Muluh Aug 2026

Socioeconomic Determinants Of Malaria Infection Among Pregnant Women In Cameroon, Sub-Saharan Africa, Arnold Akosah Muluh

Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies

Malaria during pregnancy is a significant public health issue in Cameroon, affecting maternal health and birth outcomes. Despite preventive measures, disparities exist among socioeconomic groups and between urban and rural areas. The study was guided by the social-ecological model and explored how socioeconomic factors and geographic location influence malaria infection in pregnant women. Specifically, the impact of wealth index, maternal education, and healthcare access on infection rates, considering maternal age, parity, and residence, was examined. Quantitative data from the Cameroon DHS Phase 8 were used (N=1204). The sample included pregnant women with valid malaria test results. Chi-Square tests and binary …

Improving Post-Thrombolysis Assessment And Documentation Compliance In Acute Ischemic Stroke Care, Kafayat Abba, Charmaine Brereton, Maria Alte, Lysta Cadore, Damali Bernadotte, Nydia White, Katherine Demelis Aug 2026

Improving Post-Thrombolysis Assessment And Documentation Compliance In Acute Ischemic Stroke Care, Kafayat Abba, Charmaine Brereton, Maria Alte, Lysta Cadore, Damali Bernadotte, Nydia White, Katherine Demelis

International Nursing Research Congress (INRC)

Background and Purpose: Stroke is the second leading cause of death and the third leading cause of death and disability combined worldwide. Intravenous thrombolysis (IVT) with recombinant tissue plasminogen activator (tPA) or Tenecteplase (TNK) remains the standard treatment for ischemic stroke. While life-saving, IVT carries risks such as symptomatic intracranial hemorrhage and orolingual angioedema, occurring in 1.3–5.1% of patients (Rodgers et al., 2021). Nurses play a pivotal role in post-IVT care (You Zhang et al., 2024), where timely neurological monitoring is essential for early complication detection (Faigle et al., 2020). Guidelines mandate assessments every 15 minutes for 2 hours, every …

Implementation And Evaluation Of An Innovative Fast-Track Prelicensure Nursing Program, Stephanie Trotter, Brittany Beasley, Rochelle Mcferguson, Nicole Ward, Jamie Jones, Larronda Rainey Aug 2026

Implementation And Evaluation Of An Innovative Fast-Track Prelicensure Nursing Program, Stephanie Trotter, Brittany Beasley, Rochelle Mcferguson, Nicole Ward, Jamie Jones, Larronda Rainey

International Nursing Research Congress (INRC)

Background: There is an estimated shortage of 16,000 nurses entering the workforce annually.1 Additionally, roughly 23% of existing nurses are scheduled to retire within five years.2 In the rural state of this study, only 76% of nursing positions are filled.3 The ongoing shortage is further exacerbated through national challenges in numbers of nursing school applications, acceptance, enrollment, and completion.4 Despite these challenges, there is a strong interest in pursuing a nursing career.5 Innovative approaches are needed to address these longstanding workforce issues. We developed and implemented a novel fast-track BSN program to facilitate earlier graduation …

Nurse Self-Care And Resilience On 12-Hour Shifts: A Mixed-Methods Program Evaluation, Timothy C. Ortiz, Werayuth Srithumsuk, Kattiya Podimuang, Wendy Campos, Merita Geo, Pinthusorn Pattayakorn Aug 2026

Nurse Self-Care And Resilience On 12-Hour Shifts: A Mixed-Methods Program Evaluation, Timothy C. Ortiz, Werayuth Srithumsuk, Kattiya Podimuang, Wendy Campos, Merita Geo, Pinthusorn Pattayakorn

International Nursing Research Congress (INRC)

Purpose: This evidence-based quality improvement project is aimed to implement and evaluate a self-care resilience program designed to improve work-life balance and self-care management for bedside nurses working 12-hour shifts in an acute care hospital. High rates of burnout and turnover among this population threaten both nurse health and patient care quality.

Methods: Guided by the principles in "Self-Care for New and Student Nurses" (Fontaine et al.), an 8-week program was developed and piloted with 50 medical-surgical nurses. The multi-component intervention included: (1) structured education on mindfulness, sleep hygiene, and nutrition; (2) skill-building workshops in paced breathing and micro-movements for …

Japanese Public Health Nurses' Culturally Sensitive Disaster Nursing In Islands - Focusing On Soc, Miki Marutani, Sagiri Aoki, Yukiko Anzai, Hiroko Okuda, Mayumi Kako, Susumu Fukita Aug 2026

Japanese Public Health Nurses' Culturally Sensitive Disaster Nursing In Islands - Focusing On Soc, Miki Marutani, Sagiri Aoki, Yukiko Anzai, Hiroko Okuda, Mayumi Kako, Susumu Fukita

International Nursing Research Congress (INRC)

Objective: Natural disasters are intensifying due to climate change. Sense of Coherence (SOC) enhances a community's resilience to disasters (Sutton et al., 2020). Public health nurses (PHNs) are required to enhance people's SOC to prevent health crises(Sofyana et al., 2022).Previous studies found that PHNs in islands recognized that while islands are vulnerable to disasters, they also possess a culture regarding disaster preparedness(Marutani et al., 2020) .This study identifies elements within the culture of remote islands, as understood by public health nurses, that align with SOC.

Methods:In 2023–2024, we conducted semi-structured interviews with seven PHNs on five islands regarding disaster-related culture. …

The Picaso Trial: Studying Aya Chronic Illness Self-Management Using A Noncategorical Approach, Sharron L. Docherty, Gary Maslow, Mclean Pollock, Susan Silva, Erin Denio, Lakaya Craig, Remi Misiewicz Aug 2026

The Picaso Trial: Studying Aya Chronic Illness Self-Management Using A Noncategorical Approach, Sharron L. Docherty, Gary Maslow, Mclean Pollock, Susan Silva, Erin Denio, Lakaya Craig, Remi Misiewicz

International Nursing Research Congress (INRC)

Background: Adolescents and young adults (AYA) with childhood-onset chronic conditions often struggle during the transition from pediatric to adult healthcare and from being a child living with a chronic condition to an adult who effectively manages their chronic condition. Despite shared developmental, psychosocial, and healthcare transition challenges, most research is condition-specific, limiting generalizability and overlooking shared self-management needs (1-3). The PiCASO study evaluated a peer coaching intervention to improve self-management and patient activation among AYA during this critical transition and demonstrated the feasibility and impact of a noncategorical approach.

Methods: A randomized controlled trial was conducted in which 222 AYA …
