Antibiotic resistance is a growing global public health concern that extends beyond clinical settings and into natural freshwater environments, where resistant bacteria and antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs) can persist and disseminate through watersheds. Despite growing recognition of freshwater systems as environmental reservoirs of resistance, no published studies have examined antibiotic resistance within the Huron River watershed in Southeast Michigan. Water samples were collected monthly from May through October 2025 at 10 sites along the Huron River. Rigidity And Risk: A State Space Grid Analysis Of Parent-Child Interactions, Sleep, And Early Internalizing Symptoms, Brianna Trudeau

Background. Internalizing problems in preschoolers are prevalent, cause significant impairment, and often persist into later development. Emerging research uses state space grid (SSG) methodology to examine dynamic parent-child interaction processes that may contribute to these difficulties. While affective rigidity has been linked to maladaptive outcomes, less is known about behavioral rigidity and its association with child internalizing symptoms.

Objective. This study examined whether dyadic behavioral rigidity could be represented as a latent construct across tasks, whether behavioral rigidity predicted preschool internalizing symptoms, and whether rigidity mediated the relationship between parent and child sleep problems and child internalizing symptoms.

This thesis explores the baptismal imagery across two of Marilynne Robinson’s novels, Housekeeping and Lila. The hermeneutic used to understand baptism is based on some of the works of Rowan Williams, Mircea Eliade, and Northrop Frye. In its death and rebirth function, baptism is understood for its connection to the formation of self and identity. Baptism is also explored as a means of community initiation. Further, connecting these two baptismal functions, this thesis also looks at the role community plays in the formation of that identity. American law sometimes assigns responsibility under conditions of uncertainty–even when there’s no completed harm, no demonstrable knowledge, and no identifiable victim. This thesis argues that across three otherwise unrelated doctrines, courts engage in what might be called epistemic exchange: when the kind of knowledge normally required for responsibility is unavailable, some alternative epistemic basis gets treated as functionally sufficient for judgment instead. Courts never state this practice outright; it is a philosophical description of what they are doing. Despite diverse approaches deployed worldwide to address harmful alcohol consumption, understanding binge drinking as a hazardous consumption behaviour remains a pressing issue in marketing and consumer behaviour research. Thus, this study examines the role of cognitive dissonance – and its absence – in facilitating transitions between different phases of binge drinking. Drawing on 38 biographical interviews conducted in Australia, the Netherlands, Poland, and the United States, we identify six instances where cognitive dissonance, or the absence thereof, contributes to the transition into, between, and out of phases of binge drinking.
