The number of private secondary schools that cater to international students is increasing rapidly, especially in the Canadian city of Toronto. Previous studies about international students in public schools have uncovered several concerns, but little is known about these largely unregulated, for-profit private schools. We had created a dataset of all private secondary schools in Toronto (n = 370), and in the process noticed a high volume of schools explicitly targeting international students (n = 174). This study compares predicted sulphur metabolism genes across four Acidihalobacter type strains and two metagenome-assembled genomes (MAGs), revealing genomic differences that appear to correspond to ecological specialization. Phylog-enomic analysis separates the species into two clades: clade I includes Acidihalobacter ferrooxydans from a geothermal region in Italy and the two MAGs derived from deep-sea hydrothermal vents in the Pacific Ocean, while clade II comprises Acidihalo-bacter aeolianus and Acidihalobacter prosperus from a geothermal region in Italy and Acidihalobacter yilgarnensis from a saline and acidic drainage in Australia. Using bulk digital text messaging has been shown to be effective in many different fields such as health program interventions and supporting parents/carers. Evaluations of these interventions indicate positive changes in practice; however, it appears the potential of digital messaging through short message services (SMS) have not been fully taken advantage of in early childhood education. Background: Vancomycin is first-line treatment for methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) infections. However, despite guideline recommendations, there is no evidence that targeting vancomycin trough concentrations of ≥15 mg/L in children confers clinical benefit and is associated with vancomycin-associated nephrotoxicity (VAN). Aim: This study aimed to evaluate the impact of a vancomycin safety bundle on VAN and vancomycin utilisation in hospitalised paediatric inpatients. Method: A pre–post-intervention study was conducted in a tertiary paediatric hospital comparing January–December 2018 (pre-intervention) to May 2019–April 2020 (post-intervention). Hospitalised children, aged 30 days to <18 years, that received intravenous vancomycin with at least one trough concentration were included. The intervention bundle comprised: (1) lowered empiric vancomycin trough targets (5–15 mg/L), (2) enhanced creatinine monitoring (concomitant serum creatinine with vancomycin trough), (3) guideline modification (reduced pre-authorised indications for empiric vancomycin use), and (4) prescriber education initiatives. Ethical approval was granted by the WA Child and Adolescent Health Service Research Ethics Committee, Governance Evidence Knowledge Outcomes Program (Reference no: 41830) and the study conforms with the National Health and Medical Research Council's Ethical considerations in quality assistance and evaluation activities. Results: A total of 314 vancomycin prescriptions were analysed (n = 204 pre-intervention; n = 110 post-intervention). Post-intervention, VAN incidence decreased almost twofold from 0.46 to 0.25 episodes per 1000 patient bed days (p ≤ 0.01), and vancomycin prescription days decreased by 19%. Total hospital drug costs for vancomycin decreased by AUD $16 033. Overall, and for paediatric invasive MRSA, no significant difference in clinical outcomes or 30-day mortality was observed between study periods. Conclusion: This study demonstrated the implementation of a vancomycin safety bundle significantly reduced paediatric VAN and vancomycin utilisation without compromising clinical outcomes. These data support antimicrobial stewardship interventions to improve medication safety for children.

Using the Avoid–Shift–Improve framework, this study examines how demographic factors and psychological, behavioral, and attitudinal drivers are associated with tourists’ low-carbon decision-making across mobility, consumption, and accommodation. Survey data were collected from 416 young Finnish travelers, and analyzed using correlation tests, repeated-measures ANOVA, and cluster segmentation to examine cross-domain and cross-strategy variation. Findings show that demographic factors have limited influence, whereas psychological, behavioral, and attitudinal drivers motivate sustainable choices. Shift dominant mobility decision-making, Avoid emergence in consumption, and Improve are most common in accommodation. This study examines how amenities shape revenue performance in short-term rental (STR) markets by moving beyond additive feature models towards a configurational perspective. Using robust linear modelling on 14,630 Airbnb listings in regional Western Australia (2022–2024), the analysis tests both individual amenity effects and amenity complementarities. Results show that autonomy-enabling and niche-signalling amenities, such as kitchens and pet-friendliness, are positively associated with revenue, while some amenities, notably pools, reduce revenue when offered in isolation. Interestingly, interaction effects reveal that specific amenity bundles–particularly pool × pet-friendliness and kitchen × parking–generate synergistic value that exceeds the sum of individual effects. While workers' wellbeing received increased attention during this period, much less is known about how managers sustained their own wellbeing while providing care, reassurance, and operational continuity. Medical tattooing is increasingly used to restore or alter appearance following surgery, injury, or medical treatment, yet brief instruments for assessing patient attitudes and motivations toward tattooing are limited. This study developed and evaluated the Tattoo Attitudes and Motivations Scale (TAMS), a 10-item measure intended for medical tattoo consultation and research. In Study 1, exploratory factor analysis was conducted with 589 adult women from a general population sample. In Study 2, confirmatory factor analysis was conducted with 261 breast cancer survivors. Altermagnetism is a novel magnetic phase combining characteristics of both antiferromagnetism and ferromagnetic ordering. Despite growing theoretical interest in altermagnetic materials, reports of experimentally verified high-Néel-temperature layered compounds are limited or remain to be firmly established. In our manuscript, Observation of Altermagnetic Spin-Splitting in an Intercalated Transition Metal Dichalcogenide by M. Sprague et al, we present an angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy and density functional theory study of Co1/4TaSe2, a compound we identify as a layered altermagnetic material. Our spin-resolved and spin-integrated angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy measurements reveal an electronic band structure in excellent agreement with density functional theory calculations, demonstrating clear signatures …

Traditional filmmaking has been around since the late nineteenth century, where filmmakers would utilize black and white film and tedious developing processes, including the manual handling of chemicals, to create a feature film. Tactical proficiency is a critical component of ROTC officer development, yet current study practices–primarily physical manuals, PowerPoint briefings, and in person instruction–offer limited opportunities for individualized learning, repetition, and long term retention. While digital learning platforms are widely adopted across higher education, they remain underutilized within ROTC programs despite their potential to enhance accessibility, engagement, and performance.

To address this gap, ROTCELERATE (rotcelerate.com) was developed to serve as a comprehensive digital repository designed to centralize and modernize ROTC training materials.
