Living With Generative Ai: Considering Constructionist Approaches To Learning And Methodological Implications Of Process Ontologies, Jimin Lee, Nancy Budwig
Living With Generative Ai: Considering Constructionist Approaches To Learning And Methodological Implications Of Process Ontologies, Jimin Lee, Nancy Budwig
Psychology
The growing presence of generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) in educational practice raises questions about how learners and educators live with AI and reshapes questions about how learning unfolds across contemporary learning environments. Although research on AI in education has expanded quickly, much of this work continues to frame GenAI in technocentric and static terms, as a tool to be evaluated, rather than as a relational and developmental presence within learners' trajectories. Drawing on constructionist learning theory and post-Cartesian metatheoretical perspectives, this mini review suggests that such framings are insufficient for understanding how learning is enacted in AI-mediated contexts. We propose …

Supporting Teachers’ Learning About Technology Accessibility: A Content Analysis Of Asynchronous Professional Development, Mutiara Syifa, Natalie L. Shaheen
Faculty Publications - College of Education
Accessibility is imperative to providing disabled students a free and appropriate technology-mediated public K-12 education. But according to the literature, teachers often lack the requisite knowledge to ensure the technologies they use are accessible. So, we conducted a study to understand what, if any, asynchronous professional development about technology accessibility was available to teachers and other K-12 professionals. The findings indicate that of the free technology accessibility professional development materials in the sample (a) fewer than 20% are designed for teachers, (b) most provide limited information, and (c) fewer than 9% specifically address science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) subjects. …

Five Promises More Powerful Than Fear, Trevor A. O'Reggio
Five Promises More Powerful Than Fear, Trevor A. O'Reggio
All Books
The genesis of this book grew out of an unforgettable experience with students from the SDA Seminary at Andrews University during the summer of 2023, when we traveled to Zambia to conduct a series of evangelistic meetings. Each day, I encouraged the students to memorize and recite Isaiah 41:10 as a source of courage, strength, and inspiration. That powerful verse became a daily reminder that God’s presence is greater than any fear or challenge we may face.
After returning from Zambia, I felt impressed to preserve the impact of that experience by writing this small book based on Isaiah 41:10. …

Metabolic Mind: A Critical Literature Review On The Influence Of Mindset On Metabolic Health, Jordan Daniel M.A., M.S.
Selected Full Text Dissertations, 2011-
Evidence has demonstrated that psychological processes can influence metabolic functions, which are essential to overall health, as impaired energy metabolism can compromise physiological systems (Bobba-Alves N et al., 2022). Metabolic health is defined as a state of well-being characterized by optimal levels of blood glucose, lipids, cholesterol, blood pressure, and adiposity and is the absence of metabolic dysfunction, which encompasses but is not limited to cardiovascular diseases, type 2 diabetes mellitus, obesity, and metabolic syndrome. A powerful psychological construct that has demonstrated its influence on health is a mindset. Defined as core beliefs or assumptions about oneself and the world, …
Making Sense Of Membership: Organizational Socialization Of African Immigrant Employees In U.S. Workplaces, Ikeola J. Bodunde
Making Sense Of Membership: Organizational Socialization Of African Immigrant Employees In U.S. Workplaces, Ikeola J. Bodunde
Theses and Dissertations--Communication
This dissertation examines how African immigrant employees make sense of organizational socialization in U.S. workplaces. As global mobility reshapes the labor force, nearly one in five U.S. workers is foreign-born, making organizational socialization an increasingly complex communicative process. Classic socialization models assume linear, uniform adjustment, yet international employees often face ambiguity, cultural mismatch, and racialized expectations that complicate early workplace experiences. Guided by sensemaking theory, this study conceptualizes socialization as an ongoing, nonlinear process through which newcomers notice cues, construct interpretations, act on provisional understandings, and revise meanings as contexts shift. Using a qualitative, interpretive design, I conducted semi-structured interviews …

Preserving A Liturgical Identity: The Liturgical And Musical Heritage Of Roman Catholic Apostolic Women Religious In The United States Of America, Andrew G. Jennings
Doctor of Pastoral Music Projects and Theses
This thesis examines the liturgical and musical heritage of Roman Catholic apostolic women religious in the United States and argues that their contributions represent a significant yet understudied dimension of American Catholic life. As many communities face declining numbers, the preservation of their liturgical and musical traditions becomes increasingly urgent. Using an interdisciplinary methodology that combines historical research, liturgical theology, pneumatology, phenomenology, narrative inquiry, and qualitative interviews, the study explores how women religious have shaped and preserved communal identity through liturgy, music, and apostolic ministry.
The research traces the historical development of apostolic women religious from their emergence in the …

Background:
This study investigated the influence of belongingness, self-efficacy, and clinical learning support on readiness for nursing practice and explored the role of demographic factors and nursing program differences.Method:
A quantitative, descriptive approach was used to explore undergraduate prelicensure senior nursing students' perceptions across the United States. Results:
Descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation, and multiple linear regression demonstrated students in traditional Bachelor of Science in Nursing programs reported significantly higher scores across all domains compared with those in associate degree programs (p < .01). Similarly, students in programs with ≤400 clinical hours and those assigned only one preceptor scored significantly higher on all measures (p < .01 and p < .05, respectively). Regression analysis indicated self-efficacy and learning support explained 47.9% of the variance in practice readiness (p < .05).Conclusion:
These findings share how clinical experiences shape students' readiness for nursing practice. Recommendations …Medical Students' Self-Competency Perceptions Providing Patient Grief And Bereavement Support, Ashley Grant

Teacher Awareness, Perspectives, And Implication Of Culturally Responsive-Sustaining Education (Cr-S): Exploring And Describing Education Decision-Making For English Language Learners (Ells), Dilrabo Dina Kenkes
Selected Full Text Dissertations, 2011-
With more immigrant students in American classrooms, it is more important than ever to use culturally responsive teaching. Even after years of policy changes, English Language Learners (ELLs) are still placed in special education programs at higher rates than expected. This quantitative study examines how teachers’ understanding and use of New York State’s Culturally Responsive-Sustaining Education (CR-S) framework affect their decisions when referring ELL students for special education evaluation. Many educators struggle to distinguish between language-learning challenges and real learning disabilities. This frequently happens because they are not fully aware of cultural differences or do not use culturally responsive teaching …
The Shifting Economics Of Influencer Sponsorship Disclosures, Uri Y. Hacohen
The Shifting Economics Of Influencer Sponsorship Disclosures, Uri Y. Hacohen
Cardozo Arts & Entertainment Law Journal
Conventional wisdom holds that disclosing influencer sponsorship diminishes advertising's effectiveness by triggering consumer skepticism. Responding to this perceived transparency gap, regulators have adopted mandatory disclosure regimes to address a perceived market failure: the divergence between private commercial incentives and the public interest in transparency. This Article challenges that assumption. Drawing on a large-scale social media experiment (N=600), it demonstrates that disclosures not only increase consumers' recognition of advertising but also improve their attitudes toward both influencers and brands, while significantly boosting their willingness to share promotional content. These empirical results are further supported by a comprehensive synthesis of the emerging …
Educators' Uses Of Social Capital In K-12 Book Challenges, Danielle E. Sachdeva, Sue C. Kimmel
Educators' Uses Of Social Capital In K-12 Book Challenges, Danielle E. Sachdeva, Sue C. Kimmel
STEMPS Faculty Publications
In this case study, we apply understandings of social capital informed by Pierre Bourdieu and Nan Lin to analyze how seven educators used their capital to navigate book censorship incidents in K-12 public schools. Our findings indicate that participants often used social capital to meet expressive goals, such as seeking support from others, and less often to meet instrumental goals like advocating for policies and legislation in support of students’ intellectual freedom. These findings have implications for practitioners, school administrators, and university faculty, especially now as an unprecedented number of books is being challenged in public institutions throughout the U.S.

STEMPS Faculty Publications
This study examines how instructional designer-instructors (IDIs) use and evaluate generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) when designing scenario-based and performance-centered authentic learning in higher education. Using a collective autoethnography (CAE) approach, the study draws on semi-structured interviews and reflective narratives from five IDIs with varied professional experience. Findings indicate that GenAI enhanced design capacity by accelerating scenario development, translating complex content, and supporting scenario-based and performance-based task construction. At the same time, participants reported limitations related to contextual misalignment, output unreliability, and the cognitive demands of prompt refinement. Across cases, effective integration depended on sustained human oversight, disciplinary judgment, and ethical …
