Extending Research Of Neighborhood Governance Systems: An Empirical Study Of Community Councils In Cincinnati, Ohio, Julie Cencula Olberding, Darrin Wilson, Stefanie Swiger Oct 2026

Extending Research Of Neighborhood Governance Systems: An Empirical Study Of Community Councils In Cincinnati, Ohio, Julie Cencula Olberding, Darrin Wilson, Stefanie Swiger

The Journal of Economics and Politics

Neighborhood governance systems have been developed as a way to enhance citizen engagement in local government, particularly in major cities. Scholarly research on these systems is quite limited, and most articles focus on neighborhood councils in Los Angeles, California. Our study extends this research to another system in a different city – specifically, community councils in Cincinnati, Ohio. Based on Li, Wen, and Cooper (2019), we surveyed their governing board members and analyzed relationships between three aspects of board performance (internal capacity, attention-action congruence, external networking) and three dimensions of community council effectiveness (promoting civic engagement, resolving neighborhood issues, advising …

The Quest For An Independent Scotland: The Impact Of Culture, Economics, And International Relations Theory On Votes Of Self-Determination, Sam Rohrer, James Gilley, Nathan Price Oct 2026

The Quest For An Independent Scotland: The Impact Of Culture, Economics, And International Relations Theory On Votes Of Self-Determination, Sam Rohrer, James Gilley, Nathan Price

The Journal of Economics and Politics

In the contemporary world, the true locus of sovereignty is up for debate. The drive for Scottish independence from the United Kingdom, within the larger context of the European Union illustrates trends within this relocation of sovereignty. Traditional research focused primarily on the cultural and identity issues at play, as well as economic issues. This work broadens the scope by placing the independence struggle within a complex international context. The shift from a purely realist state system interpretation to that of a refereed Pacific Union illustrates when nationalist and separatist movements can find conditions that allow for a viable secessionist …

Firm Behavior In The Mid-Twentieth Century American Steel Industry, Robert Rogers Oct 2026

Firm Behavior In The Mid-Twentieth Century American Steel Industry, Robert Rogers

The Journal of Economics and Politics

In the period from 1920 to 1972, the American steel industry consisted of eight large companies and a fringe composed of small domestic producers and foreign firms exporting to the United States. The market structure made it unlikely that the industry behaved in a perfectly competitive fashion. Thus, oligopoly hypotheses on firm behavior such as Nash-Bertrand and Stackelberg leadership seem plausible. This paper estimates a BLP demand model for the industry, and it, then, uses the demand parameters to estimate price equations under the different behavioral assumptions. From the information in this model, tests are made to see which hypothesis …

The Evolution Of Distributive Benefits: The Rise Of Letter-Marking In The United States Congress, Russell W. Mills, Nicole Kalaf-Hughes Oct 2026

The Evolution Of Distributive Benefits: The Rise Of Letter-Marking In The United States Congress, Russell W. Mills, Nicole Kalaf-Hughes

The Journal of Economics and Politics

The recent moratorium on earmarks has given rise to a new and largely hidden practice for securing distributive benefits: letter-marking. Letter-marking occurs when members of Congress ask (in writing) the head of an agency to retain or allocate distributive benefits in their districts. While letter-marking is common in Washington, the scholarly literature has ignored this practice. We use a unique dataset of 101 congressional letters relating to FAA funding and empirically assess the degree to which the letter-writer’s characteristics and the letter’s content impact the likelihood of achieving the objectives. In doing so, we offer a nuanced understanding of letter-marking.

Sensor Technologies And Integration Approaches For Smart Prosthetic Health Monitoring: A State-Of-The-Art Narrative Review, Mohammed Q. Abdulhasan, Jumaa S. Chiad, Firas M. Abdulghani Oct 2026

Sensor Technologies And Integration Approaches For Smart Prosthetic Health Monitoring: A State-Of-The-Art Narrative Review, Mohammed Q. Abdulhasan, Jumaa S. Chiad, Firas M. Abdulghani

AUIQ Technical Engineering Science

Transforming the residual-limb-socket interface from an intermittently evaluated ``black box'' into a monitored clinical setting that permits objective fit assessment, early danger detection, and better long-term prosthesis use is the aim of smart prosthetic health monitoring. This narrative exploration compiles peer-reviewed literature on sensing technology and, importantly, integration strategies that affect practical usability. Iterative searches by keywords and citation linking across major engineering and biomedical journal platforms were used to find literature, giving priority to current contributions while preserving important foundational works. The chosen studies were examined and classified based on (i) sensing modality (pressure/shear, temperature-humidity microclimate, chemical and perfusion-related …

Synthesis Protocols For Solar Cell Materials From Laboratory Fabrication To Scalable Manufacturing, Ayad Abbood Abdulhasan, A. M. Mustafa, Mohanad Muzahem Khalaf Oct 2026

Synthesis Protocols For Solar Cell Materials From Laboratory Fabrication To Scalable Manufacturing, Ayad Abbood Abdulhasan, A. M. Mustafa, Mohanad Muzahem Khalaf

AUIQ Technical Engineering Science

Photovoltaic (PV) technology has evolved over seven decades from single-crystal silicon cells with modest efficiencies to a diverse portfolio of silicon, thin-film, and emerging solar-cell architectures approaching or exceeding thermodynamic single-junction limits when combined in tandem configurations. Device efficiency and long-term operational stability are governed not only by the choice of absorber material but, critically, by the synthesis protocol used to fabricate it the crystal-growth method, deposition technique, solvent system, thermal budget, and interface-engineering strategy all leave a lasting imprint on morphology, defect density, and carrier transport. This review provides a comprehensive, protocol-centered survey of solar-cell synthesis across three technology …

Urasawa’S Monster And The Aesthetics Of Uncertainty, Simon Lindblom Oct 2026

Urasawa’S Monster And The Aesthetics Of Uncertainty, Simon Lindblom

Dialogue: The Interdisciplinary Journal of Popular Culture and Pedagogy

This essay examines the anime Monster (Urasawa, 2001) through the lens of Aesthetic action (Klinger, 2024) and ethical praxis. Set in a nostalgically rendered pre-accelerationist Europe, the anime cultivates an atmosphere of uncertainty that prompts viewers to engage in complex moral issues. By exploring the anime's aesthetic strategies, this analysis reveals how Monster functions as a political device, exposing the dark undercurrents of historical trauma and the systemic exclusion of marginalised groups. The essay argues that Monster's deliberate cultivation of indeterminacy, particularly through its morally ambiguous characters and unresolved dilemmas, embodies a Determinate Performance of Indeterminacy (Klinger, 2024). This …

Entropy calculation module 116 and hierarchical clustering module 118 recursively partition the table to algorithmically filter out random variables and isolate consistent structural website patterns. Pattern extraction module 120 identifies static website paths and parametric …

Spec-245-Core: Diagnostic Blueprint And Metrology Interfaces For Co-Harmonic Wave-Confinement --- Strategical Protocol And Instrumentation Matrix For Experimental Verification Of Substrate Phase-Ordering, Christopher L. Eckes Oct 2026

Spec-245-Core: Diagnostic Blueprint And Metrology Interfaces For Co-Harmonic Wave-Confinement --- Strategical Protocol And Instrumentation Matrix For Experimental Verification Of Substrate Phase-Ordering, Christopher L. Eckes

Defensive Publications Series

This specification defines the experimental metrology interface, diagnostic parameters, and verification constraints required to physically demonstrate macro-scale co-harmonic wave-confinement within engineered substrate layers. While the theoretical stack from SPEC-1 through SPEC-244-CORE establishes a mathematically logical, tokenless wave-field computing framework, empirical realization is bottlenecked by the material challenge of substrate phase-ordering. This disclosure transforms the unified lineage from an advanced hypothesis into a concrete, executable laboratory protocol by formalizing the exact diagnostic criteria using existing, real-world measurement instruments. By defining how Scanning Near-Field Optical Microscopy (SNOM), Laser Doppler Vibrometry (LDV), and Spectroscopic Ellipsometry can be deployed in parallel to map wave-front …

Spec-244-Core: Chromatic Resonance Fields And Zero-Latency Spatial Graphic Generation Interfaces --- Real-Time Wave-Field Propagation For Non-Patch Adaptive Interactive Simulations And Video Compilation, Christopher L. Eckes Oct 2026

Spec-244-Core: Chromatic Resonance Fields And Zero-Latency Spatial Graphic Generation Interfaces --- Real-Time Wave-Field Propagation For Non-Patch Adaptive Interactive Simulations And Video Compilation, Christopher L. Eckes

Defensive Publications Series

This specification establishes the blueprint for the Chromatic Resonance Field and Zero-Latency Spatial Graphic Generation Interface within the USUE-M2M-REV3 framework. Current visual computing, interactive gaming, and video generation architectures are fundamentally bottlenecked by spatial tokenization, patch-based frame rasterization, and discrete rendering pipelines. These legacy systems impose massive computational and thermal energy penalties because they require constant frame-by-frame memory compilation and serialization before display. This disclosure introduces a non-von Neumann visualization architecture where graphics, video, and real-time interactive simulation environments are generated as continuous wave-fronts propagating through interstitial Eckesonium(TM) core grid standing wave cavities. By treating visual output as a localized …

Spec-243-Core: Unified Isospectral Wave-Field Architecture --- Continuous Boundary Transformation And Tokenless Matrix Interfaces For Non-Von Neumann Decentralized Cognitive Runtimes, Christopher L. Eckes Oct 2026

Spec-243-Core: Unified Isospectral Wave-Field Architecture --- Continuous Boundary Transformation And Tokenless Matrix Interfaces For Non-Von Neumann Decentralized Cognitive Runtimes, Christopher L. Eckes

Defensive Publications Series

This specification defines the Unified Isospectral Wave-Field Architecture, a non-von Neumann computing paradigm that completely eliminates internal discrete tokenization and patch-based visual partitioning within localized processing cores. Mainstream artificial intelligence design is fundamentally bottlenecked by artificial data silos, forcing multi-dimensional graphics and sequential linguistics into discrete token representations that impose massive vector overhead penalties. This disclosure establishes a continuous-variable processing layer where text, images, and video are ingested, mapped, and manipulated strictly as continuous wave-envelopes within interstitial Eckesonium(TM) core grid standing wave cavities. Discrete tokens and pixel grids are relegated entirely to boundary-layer interface noise or final collapsed output states. …
