Lost Before Forgetting: Objective Driving Metrics Track Navigation Deficits Tied To Preclinical Alzheimer's Disease, Yiqi Zhu, Ramkrishna K Singh, Semere Bekena, David C Brown, Chen Chen, Matthew Blake, Jean-François Trani, Ganesh M Babulal
2020-Current year OA Pubs
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: Navigation is a complex, multisensory process in which subtle changes may emerge before the onset of symptomatic Alzheimer's disease (AD). This study investigated whether navigation abilities were associated with amyloid and tau pathology in cognitively normal older adults.
RESEARCH DESIGN AND METHODS: Among 285 cognitively unimpaired older adults, navigation and objective driving behaviors were assessed using the self-reported Santa Barbara Sense of Direction Scale (SBSOD) and a datalogger, respectively. Amyloid and tau burden were quantified using PET-MRI 2 years post-initial driving data collection. Linear mixed-effects models were used to evaluate the associations between biomarker status and longitudinal …
Decreasing Risk Factors For Post-Intensive Care Syndrome Using Nurse-Led Rounds And A Novel Icu Liberation Bundle, Jennifer Kepler, Kenneth Moller
Decreasing Risk Factors For Post-Intensive Care Syndrome Using Nurse-Led Rounds And A Novel Icu Liberation Bundle, Jennifer Kepler, Kenneth Moller
Publications 2026-present
Background: Critically ill patients are more likely to survive today than at any other time in history. As more patients recover from critical illnesses, however, many experience health impairments known as post-intensive care syndrome. The Society of Critical Care Medicine developed the ICU Liberation Bundle to decrease the risk of post-intensive care syndrome.
Problem: An audit of 100 patient charts identified complete ICU Liberation Bundle documentation in only 20% of eligible patient days, highlighting the need for increased consistency in bundle implementation. Since the ICU Liberation Bundle addresses modifiable post-intensive care syndrome risk factors, lack of consistency implementing bundle interventions …

Extending Fischoff, we used vignettes to examine people's perceptions of a hypothetical rap fan accused of murder. Study 1 (N = 300) used a 2 (murder accusation) x 2 (inclusion of rap lyrics) x 2 (fan gender) experiment, asking participants to judge how capable of murder and sexually aggressive they found the fan. The presentation of lyrics and murder accusation were associated with the fan being more capable of murder, while rap lyrics and participants' rap attitudes were associated with the fan being more sexually aggressive. Thematic analysis revealed that, in conditions containing both the lyrics and the murder accusation, …
Does The Internet Equalize Youth’S Civic Engagement? Examining Online And Offline Civic Engagement Among Adolescents And Young Adults, Yue Ni
Psychology Faculty Publications and Presentations
In this study, I examined disparities in online and offline civic engagement among 400 youth aged 15-25 years (Mage = 20.9; SD = 3.1) by subjective socioeconomic status (SES), race/ethnicity, and immigrant status. Results indicated that patterns of disparities in online civic engagement largely mirrored those observed offline. SES was the most consistent predictor: Youth who perceived their families as more well-off reported higher participation across both online and offline civic activities. In contrast, no significant differences were found between white youth and youth of color. Foreign-born youth reported higher levels of civic engagement in online and several …
Cultural Perceptions And Willingness Or Reluctance To Use Ai Chatbots For Emotional Support By International African Students In Higher Educational Institutions In The United States, Zakariah Issah
Graduate Theses, Dissertations, and Problem Reports (ETD)
The increasing use of artificial intelligence (AI) chatbots for emotional support underscores the need to understand how cultural perceptions shape their adoption among international African students in higher education institutions in the United States. Guided by the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) and Social Stigma Theory, this qualitative study explored the perceptions, motivations, and barriers influencing the use of AI chatbots for emotional support. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with 20 undergraduate and graduate students from 10 African countries. The findings reveal that participants viewed AI chatbots as conditional and situational sources of emotional support rather than replacements for human relationships. Convenience, …
