Adaptive Multi-Modal Learning Framework For Streaming Big Data: A Dynamic Information- Theoretic And Distributed Optimization Approach, Ali Abbood Khaleel, Noor Abdulmuttaleb Jaafar, Qayssar Al Omairi

Mesopotamian Journal of Big Data

The massive increase in both heterogeneity and velocity of data streams has raised the need for learning systems with adaptivity to evolving distributions at scale. In this paper, we propose the Adaptive Multi-Modal Learning (AMML) framework to provide a one-stop solution for analyzing non-stationary multi-modal big data in real-time. The AMML combines modality-specific representation learning with modelling the drift by an information-theoretic measure based on KL divergence to track distributional changes. By combining a temporally regularized optimization framework with variational information constraints, the model can balance an optimal trade-off between stability and flexibility under continuous updates. The framework is deployed …

Structured Obstetric Care In Correctional Settings And Maternal–Neonatal Outcomes Among Incarcerated Pregnant Women, Sherah J. Ndjongo

General Submissions: Community and Population-based Materials

Purpose/Aim: Pregnant incarcerated women are a medically and socially vulnerable population. Approximately 4% of women admitted to U.S. state prisons and 3% admitted to jails are pregnant at intake, and an estimated 25% are pregnant or have given birth within the year prior to incarceration. In the absence of mandatory federal or state standards, access to obstetric care varies widely across facilities, contributing to disparities in maternal and neonatal outcomes. This literature review evaluates whether structured obstetric care programs, compared with limited prenatal services, improve maternal complications, preterm birth, neonatal outcomes, and postpartum continuity of care.

Methodology: A structured search …

Defense-To-Attack: Bypassing Weak Defenses Enables Stronger Jailbreaks In Vision-Language Models, Yunhan Zhao, Xiang Zheng, Yige Li, Xingjun Ma

Research Collection School Of Computing and Information Systems

Despite their superb capabilities, Vision-Language Models (VLMs) have been shown to be vulnerable to jailbreak attacks. While recent jailbreaks have achieved notable progress, their effectiveness and efficiency can still be improved. In this work, we reveal an interesting phenomenon: incorporating weak defense cues into the attack pipeline can significantly enhance both the effectiveness and efficiency of jailbreaks on VLMs. Building on this insight, we propose Defense2Attack, a novel jailbreak method that bypasses the safety guardrails of VLMs by leveraging defensive patterns to guide jailbreak prompt construction. Specifically, Defense2Attack consists of three key components: (1) a visual optimizer that embeds universal …
