Cerebellar Oligodendrocytic Α-Synuclein Pathology And Dentate Nucleus Neuronal Hypertrophy In Parkinson’S Disease, Diego Iacono, Hui Peng, John Paul Bouffard, Roger Kurlan
Department of Neurology Faculty Papers
Idiopathic Parkinson's disease (iPD) research has historically prioritized basal ganglia dysfunction and neuronal Lewy body pathology, often overlooking cerebellar and non-neuronal cells contributions. This study investigates cerebellar neuropathology in iPD, specifically focusing on neuronal and non-neuronal cells of the dentate nucleus (DN) and its adjacent white matter (DN-WM). We systematically assessed autopsy-confirmed iPD brains vs. age-matched controls using immunohistochemistry and stereology-based morphometry methods. The study evaluated α-synuclein pathology, other common age-related co-occurring pathologies (β-amyloid, Tau, neuroinflammation), myelin integrity (Luxol-Fast-Blue), and neuronal volumetric changes in the DN of the cerebellum. In iPD brains, we identified intracytoplasmic α-synuclein inclusions within oligodendrocytes across …

The study of great ape cognition offers insights into the evolutionary origins of human intelligence, but is hindered by small sample sizes and restricted access to data. To address this, we present the EVApeCognition Dataset, a publicly available resource comprising 262 experimental datasets from 150 scientific publications from the Wolfgang Köhler Primate Research Center (2004-2021) in Leipzig, Germany. Eighty-one apes participated in 150 studies, with a majority (N = 78) participating in more than one study. Publication of the dataset aims to make these unique datasets accessible for future meta-analyses and correlational analyses, helping us better understand how our great …

Background
Although the addition of neoadjuvant immune checkpoint blockade to chemotherapy has improved patient outcome in early triple‑negative breast cancer (TNBC), some patients continue to have poor disease outcomes.
Methods
To characterise neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC) resistant cell populations that persist post-NAC, we created a high-resolution single-cell atlas of 129,433 cells from fourteen TNBC patient-derived xenograft (PDX) models with residual disease post-NAC. We identified transcriptionally distinct cancer subpopulations or cell states using unsupervised clustering and characterised‑ their regulatory network as well as clinical associations with treatment response, metastatic progression and survival. Findings were validated using multiple independent TNBC cohorts.

Transformation Of Environmental Education (Plh) Learning With Contextual-Based E-Modules At Pabentengang Tpa, Najlah Shalsa Byla, Didik Taryana, Yusuf Suharto
Jurnal Pendidikan Humaniora
The development of this e-module is motivated by the limitations of PLH teaching materials which are only conceptual and do not link theory to real phenomena around students, for example the problem of waste management at the Pabentengang TPA. These limitations cause learning to be less interesting and meaningful. Therefore, this study aims to transform PLH learning through the development of contextual-based e-modules that link theory to local environmental problems directly. This study uses the ADDIE development model, which includes the stages of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The validity of the product was assessed by material experts and …

The Effect Of Peer Feedback To Improve Students’ Writing Ability For Lower Secondary School Students, M. Kresna Dharma, Nunung Suryati, Ekaning Dewanti Laksmi, Niamika El Khoiri
Jurnal Pendidikan Humaniora
Peer feedback is widely recognized as an effective technique for improving writing skills; however, most existing studies have been conducted at the university level. There is still limited study to find out that peer feedback technique can improve students’ writing skill especially in Lower Secondary Level (SMP). This study was aimed to find out the effectiveness of peer feedback in improving students’ writing skill in lower secondary level. One school from Bangkalan was taken to conduct this research. This was a quasi- experimental study. There were two classess used to be experimental group and control group. The data were obtained …

The Effectiveness Of Animal-Assisted Interventions On Social And Communication Skills In Children With Autism Spectrum Disorder In The Uae, Shamsa Ali Almarzooqi
Thesis/ Dissertation Defenses
This study aims to assess the effectiveness of animal-assisted interventions (AAI) on the social and communication skills of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The study is organized into four connected phases, each building on the findings of the previous stage. Phase 1 explored parents’ perceptions of how companion pet ownership contributes to their child’s social interaction, communication, emotional well-being, and daily activity routines, using focus groups with mothers of children with ASD. Phase 2 employed a mixed-methods design to observe how students with ASD engage with different animal species (cat, rabbit, and fish/birds) …

Current Issues in Middle Level Education
This descriptive essay focuses on one teacher educator's response to a disrupted academic semester after a natural disaster that threatened to erode a service-learning designated interdisciplinary methods course for middle grades educators. This essay shares the process of pivoting to retain critical elements of the course. Reinforcing the use of resilience-informed pedagogy and modeling use of advisories, the instructor focused on developing a cohesive classroom community. Other aspects of the course revamp include offering differentiated service-learning opportunities. Centering teacher candidates’ joy and modeling best practices for middle level educators, the instructor describes project-based learning, a multidisciplinary literacy experience with a …
