Integration Of Robotic Arm And Conveyor With Programmable Logic Controller, Drake A. Small
Integration Of Robotic Arm And Conveyor With Programmable Logic Controller, Drake A. Small
Master's Theses
To meet new curriculum demands brought on by Cal Poly's upcoming switch to semesters, a new, cross-disciplinary lab module was developed for EE 435 (Industrial Power Control and Automation). The module emphasizes career-applicable skills, preparing students for the field of controls engineering within the manufacturing industry. These skills include robotic control, computer networking and configuration, and embedded systems. The work focused on integrating a collaborative robot arm to pick-and-place boxes on a conveyor. A myCobot 320 Pi and an Ultimation Powered Roller MDR Conveyor were integrated with the existing PLC system using Modbus RTU and EtherNet/IP communication protocols, respectively. A …
A History Of The Underground Comix Scene: The Seriousness Of An Unserious Genre, Harris Darcie Shugart
A History Of The Underground Comix Scene: The Seriousness Of An Unserious Genre, Harris Darcie Shugart
Master's Theses
The Underground Comix Scene of the 1960s and 1970s was born out of an age of censorship. The Comics Code Authority, a regulatory body created by the Comics Magazine Association of America in 1954, established guidelines requiring publishing houses to self-regulate following a recommendation from the United States Senate Subcommittee on Juvenile Delinquency in 1953. Comix with an X, for their X-rated nature, represent an emerging counter-culture in the latter half of the 1960s and the 1970s, with an epicenter of San Francisco. These comix and their artists were not interested in obtaining the looming ‘Seal of Approval’ from the …
There Be A Dragon, Audreanna Elliott
There Be A Dragon, Audreanna Elliott
ETDs from 2020-2029
There Be a Dragon is set in a roughly medieval era world named Aleovion. Evren is the protagonist of the story, a young woman freshly seventeen on the cusp of what should be amazing things. She’s in her last year of schooling and will be on her way to escaping the misery her school has brought her, and on top of that, this is the year she should finally ‘manifest’. Evren’s a part of a sect of beings in this world called ‘Embodied’, people whose ancestry is touched by a mystical creature. This allows them to act as conduits for …

Resource Assessment Report No. 8: Pilbara Prawn Resource - 2024 Assessment, Inigo Koefoed, Rachel Marks, Scott Evans, Sharon Wilkin, Jason How
Resource Assessment Reports
The Pilbara Prawn Resource (Resource) is accessed by three managed commercial fisheries; the Exmouth Gulf Prawn Managed Fishery (EGPMF), the Onslow Prawn Managed Fishery (OPMF) and the Nickol Bay Prawn Managed Fishery (NBPMF). All three fisheries are managed under effort controls, with the EGPMF and OPMF targeting brown tiger prawns (BTP; Penaeus esculentus), western king prawns (WKP; Penaeus latisulcatus), blue endeavour prawns (BEP; Metapenaeus endeavouri), and lesser quantities of banana prawns (Penaeus merguiensis). The NBPMF primarily targets banana prawns while also catching BTP, WKP, and BEP in lower numbers. These fisheries are situated adjacent to one another along the Pilbara …
Rethinking Pakistan Studies: The Grounds Of Regional Knowledge After South Asia, Zoya Sameen
Rethinking Pakistan Studies: The Grounds Of Regional Knowledge After South Asia, Zoya Sameen
FAS Pakistan
This article rethinks Pakistan Studies as both a pedagogical project and a field of knowledge by examining the limits of history as a tool of legitimation. It argues that in the public sphere, history often serves to authorize the present, and shows how Pakistan Studies has historically operated within this framework. At the same time, the article suggests that this condition opens up another possibility: to understand history not as passive inheritance but as an active demand upon the present. Seen in this light, Pakistan Studies emerges not as a stable body of knowledge but as a series of shifting …
2025 Highlights From The Agriculture And Natural Resources Department: Strengthening Utah’S Agriculture And Natural Resources, Justen Smith
2025 Highlights From The Agriculture And Natural Resources Department: Strengthening Utah’S Agriculture And Natural Resources, Justen Smith
Outcomes and Impact Quarterly
Utah State University Extension’s Agriculture and Natural Resources Department addresses challenges affecting agricultural productivity, resource sustainability, and food security across Utah. In 2025, the department implemented a comprehensive, research-based approach integrating agronomy, livestock management, horticulture, water efficiency, and natural resource stewardship. Programs were delivered through applied research, field demonstrations, workshops, and innovative technologies such as drone-assisted monitoring. Outcomes include increased crop yields, reduced input costs, and improved grazing efficiency, generating millions of dollars in economic impact for producers. Market development efforts expanded revenue opportunities, while volunteer and community-based programs strengthened local food production capacity. Natural resource programs improved water management, …

U.S. Regulation And Litigation Regarding Gmos: A Cautionary Tale Of A Piecemeal Framework, Michael R. Reese, George V. Granade
Northern Illinois University Law Review
Bioengineered crops using genetically modified organisms (GMOs or GM) are big business in the United States. In little more than two decades, GM agriculture constitutes more than 90% of crops such as corn, soy, and canola. The acceptance of GMO foods by consumers, however, has not been as robust—leading to demand for labeling regulations so consumers can identify whether their foods contain GMOs. U.S. law governing GMOs, particularly food labeling, lacks a comprehensive regulatory scheme and is instead highly fragmented. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has debated how to label such foods for over a decade, issuing no rules …
