Journal of Bioresource Management

The plankton diversity of large and urban rivers has been extensively studied in Nigeria while small rural rivers that harbour rich aquatic biota receive little attention. The composition, abundance, and distribution of plankton of a rural river were assessed in relation to some physicochemical parameters. The study was carried out between May and October 2023 in 3 stations using standard methods. The physicochemical results were: temperature (25.2-27.0oC), flow velocity (0.15-0.46 m/s), transparency (14.0-78.5cm), depth (51.0-105.0cm), pH (5.6-7.8), electrical conductivity (66.0-98.0 µS/cm), total dissolved solids (33.0-49.0 mg/l), turbidity (0.1-1.7 NTU), dissolved oxygen (3.2-6.4 mg/l), biochemical oxygen demand (1.0-2.7 mg/l), …

The landlord initiated an Article 78 proceeding to challenge a DHCR order that granted the tenant's petition for administrative review, finding the tenant was entitled to a permanent preferential rent and overcharges. The court affirmed the DHCR's determination that the original lease's preferential rent clause was ambiguous, and this ambiguity should be construed against the landlord in favor of a permanent preferential rent. Deferring to DHCR's factual findings and credibility assessments, the court upheld that the preferential rent was permanent and that rent increases above Rent Guidelines Board adjustments constituted overcharges. The landlord's petition was denied, and the proceeding dismissed.

This systematic review explores the relationship between achieving minimal disease activity in psoriasis and the progression of atherosclerosis. It investigates how biologic therapies and other treatments impact atherosclerosis markers, offering insights into therapeutic strategies. A comprehensive search of PubMed, Embase, and Web of Science was conducted from January 1, 2000, to April 1, 2023, using terms such as psoriasis, psoriatic arthritis, atherosclerosis, biologic therapy, vascular stiffness, carotid intima-media thickness (CIMT), and coronary computed tomography angiography (CCTA). INTRODUCTION: A secondary analysis of cross-sectional survey data was conducted to characterize beliefs about abortion access in Oklahoma, measure stress associated with the overturn of Roe vs. Wade (2022), and evaluate the potential relationship between post-Roe stress (PR stress) and mental health. METHODS: From August through September 2022, adult Oklahomans (N = 1793) were surveyed about their sociodemographic characteristics, beliefs about abortion access, frequency of past-month stress related to the overturn of Roe vs. Wade, and mental health. Cyberattacks increasingly threaten enterprise networks, creating significant risks to sensitive data and business operations. The purpose of this qualitative pragmatic inquiry was to explore the strategies Information Technology (IT) managers use to secure organizational networks from cyberattacks. Participants consisted of seven experienced IT managers with a minimum of 5 years of network security management experience, purposefully selected through LinkedIn. Shigella flexneri can cause shigellosis, which results in high fever, vomiting, diarrhea, or death. This study developed a detection method based on real-time polymerase chain reaction that targets the sfmD gene of S. flexneri given that the virulence factor encoded by this gene is thought to facilitate adhesion to a host surface. The proposed method involves primer design, DNA isolation, the optimization of primer annealing temperature, and confirmation, specificity, and sensitivity tests. Oil palm leaf extract (OPLE) contains abundant phenolic and flavonoid compounds with recognized antioxidant and anti-inflammatory potential; however, its pharmacological applications remain underexplored. This study aimed to optimize the enrichment process of OPLE and characterize its bioactive compounds using integrated in vitro and in silico approaches. The extraction was optimized by incorporating trichloroacetic acid and extending the incubation time to 48 h, resulting in significantly increased total phenolic content and antioxidant activity compared with the control. LC–MS/MS profiling identified 14 flavonoid compounds with diverse biological functions. During the testing of integrated circuits (IC), simultaneous switching of instances in a region of the IC increases transient current and causes a voltage drop (also referred to as IR drop). Such voltage drops can interfere with proper testing of the chip and complicate fault detection. This disclosure describes techniques that leverage power-aware analysis to predict the locations of IR hotspots that may arise during ATPG testing of integrated circuits. Compared to traditional structural analysis, the techniques improve the accuracy of prediction of IR hotspots, refine switching activity constraints for ATPG, and generate patterns with realistic power. This study investigates the complex transmission dynamics of malaria, a critical global health challenge, with a focus on the African continent. We introduce a novel approach that employs Fractional Differential Equations (FDEs) to advance the understanding of malaria spread and control. Specifically, we develop a new SIR-SI model using the Caputo fractional operator, which captures the memory effects and time-delay characteristics inherent in real-world epidemiological systems. This doctoral staff education project was developed to address a significant gap in nursing practice, specifically the limited knowledge of outpatient clinical staff regarding cultural, social, and health literacy factors that influence the management of chronic hypertension in African American (AA) patients. Human noroviruses (HuNoVs) are the leading cause of viral gastroenteritis, with ≥80% of infections caused by the GII genogroup. HuNoVs are non-enveloped, with an icosahedral capsid composed of 90 dimers of the major capsid protein VP1, which encloses a minor structural protein, VP2, and a VPg-linked, positive-sense ssRNA genome. Although the atomic structure of the icosahedral capsid formed by VP1 is well characterized using crystallography and cryo-electron microscopy analyses of HuNoV virus-like particles, the structures and the localization of VP2 and VPg inside the capsid, how they are incorporated into the capsid, and whether this process requires interactions between them …

In this paper, we present a project that aims to pique students' interest and facilitate their engagement in learning. Students will be encouraged to take an active role in their learning of systems of linear ODEs with real repeated Eigenvalues. Through discussion and completion of a set of guided questions given in the project, students will gain a deeper understanding of the topic.
