Background:

Heavy metals, like lead, arsenic, and cadmium, are linked to increased inflammation even in early life; however, anti-inflammatory diets may offset these effects.

Methods:

We evaluated associations between heavy metals and inflammatory biomarkers, and potential effect modification by diet in 399 adolescents aged 10 to 18 at baseline who attended two study visits 2 years apart (773 observations). At baseline, blood lead, urinary arsenic, and cadmium concentrations were measured, and the Children’s Dietary Inflammatory Index (C-DII) was calculated. Fasting serum interleukin (IL)-4, IL-10, IL-1β, IL-6, IL-8, high-sensitivity C-reactive protein, and tumor necrosis factor-alpha were measured for both visits. Generalized …

In 2024, Utah State University conducted a study of Utah's farmers, ranchers, and food makers related to value-added food production and processing. This fact sheet provides an overview of the survey results related to respondents, their operations, products, and marketing outlets. It also discusses respondents’ familiarity with key regulatory and resource organizations, the types of products and business resources they find difficult to obtain or access, and the primary obstacles to their processing operations. In the study of Marangoni condensation through thermal images, a common task is to analyze the features of a single droplet. To do this, the droplet must first be segmented from the background. While this segmentation can be done by hand for small batch sizes, scalability quickly becomes an issue. As machine learning tools have historically been strong in image segmentation, this study analyzes the efficacy of implementing a U-Net machine learning model for this specific segmentation task. Tenant moved to dismiss, arguing landlord's failure to comply with LLC law publication requirements, misdescription of premises, exceeding the "small landlord" unit count, and non-compliance of the predicate notice and petition with GCEL's ownership disclosure requirements. Over the past decade, high-performance deep learning has evolved into a critical research domain, driven by the demand for efficient models and high inference throughput. Deep learning architectures have shifted from stacked convolutional layers to transformer-based models, while pruning techniques and graph-structured data have established sparse matrix–dense matrix multiplication (SpMM) as a fundamental kernel—particularly in graph neural networks (GNNs). Modern GPUs, with their massive parallelism and high-bandwidth memory, offer immense potential for accelerating these workloads. While SpMM implementations using the compressed sparse row (CSR) format remain common to avoid conversion overhead, preprocessing-based methods have recently demonstrated superior potential. AIMS: Research study charters facilitate shared governance and power sharing with research partners when developed collaboratively and early on in a study. Study charters are negotiated and developed on a study-by-study basis, offering insight into study-specific dynamics between research partners and investigators, as well as the factors that each identify as important for their collaboration. This review aimed to map and synthesize existing evidence on the development, structure, and implementation of research study charters used in patient-engaged research.

METHODS: We searched peer-reviewed literature published worldwide in English between January 2019 and January 2025.

This dissertation presents a comprehensive analysis of factors influencing crash injury severity across diverse road and work zone environments. Using advanced statistical modeling techniques, it examines crash outcomes in four critical contexts: general road crashes, work zone crashes, truck-involved crashes, and high-speed rear-end collisions. A mixed logit modeling framework with random parameters, incorporating heterogeneity in parameter means and variances, is employed to capture unobserved heterogeneity in crash data. The analyses are further refined through targeted segmentation by speed regime, work zone type, and crash type to identify context-specific risk factors.
