Background: The gut microbiome plays a pivotal role in regulating immunity. Gastric acid suppressants (GAS) are known to alter the gut microbiome and might therefore modify response to immunotherapy in cancer patients. We estimated associations of GAS with recurrence-free survival (RFS) and distant metastasis-free survival (DMFS) in the EORTC 1325/KEYNOTE-054 trial. Methods: Patients with resected stage III melanoma were randomized to receive 200 mg of pembrolizumab or placebo. Pembrolizumab prolonged RFS and DMFS (reported elsewhere). We used Cox models to estimate hazard ratios (HR) and 95 % confidence intervals (CI) for the association between GAS at baseline, and RFS and …

Sustainability Assessment: The State Of The Art In 2026, Alan Bond, Angus Morrison-Saunders, A. John Sinclair
Research outputs 2022 to 2026
Sustainability assessment (SA) has developed over the past three decades as a decision-support process explicitly directing choices towards sustainability. This paper provides an updated state-of-the-art review of SA in 2025, building on the 2012 assessment by Bond, Morrison-Saunders and Pope. We examine progress in theory, practice and process across selected jurisdictions, considering how SA has evolved conceptually and in application. While the volume of academic research on SA continues to grow, practical uptake remains uneven and context-dependent. Key innovations shaping the field include the embedding of sustainability provisions within Canada’s next-generation impact assessment framework, the incorporation of holistic assessment principles …

Drawing Sound In Space: Digital Spatial Notation As Constitutive Audiovisuality, Cat Hope
Drawing Sound In Space: Digital Spatial Notation As Constitutive Audiovisuality, Cat Hope
Research outputs 2022 to 2026
This paper examines how the design and realisation of a concert presentation entitled Drawing Sound in Space led to the concept of digital spatial notation. Seven Australian composers were commissioned to create digital scores for an electroacoustic chamber music ensemble, and scores were shared with the audience. The author argues that contemporary digital notation practices enhance live performances of new music by expanding concepts of the audiovisual to include alternative notational approaches engaging with space, creating a ‘spatial notation’. Further, Drawing Sound in Space aimed to transform musicianship and audience experience by offering a more immersive encounter with music notation …

Pfedrag: A Personalized Federated Retrieval-Augmented Generation System With Depth-Adaptive Tiered Embedding Tuning, Hangyu He, Xin Yuan, Kai Wu, Ren Ping Liu, Wei Ni
Research outputs 2022 to 2026
Large Language Models (LLMs) can undergo hallucinations in specialized domains, and standard Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) often falters due to general-purpose embeddings ill-suited for domain-specific terminology. Though domain-specific fine-tuning enhances retrieval, centralizing data introduces privacy risks. The use of federated learning (FL) can alleviate this to some extent, but faces challenges of data heterogeneity, poor personalization, and expensive training data generation. We propose pFedRAG, a novel Personalized Federated RAG framework, which enables efficient collaborative fine-tuning of embedding models to address these challenges. The key contribution is a new Depth-Adaptive Tiered Embedding (DATE) architecture, which comprises a Global Shared Layer, combined using …

Research outputs 2022 to 2026
LinkedIn is a professional platform used as a collaborative tool by small business entrepreneurs to acquire crucial resources needed to sustain and grow their business. However, there is limited research to explain the influence of the lifeworld on entrepreneurs’ LinkedIn use. Using qualitative interviews we address this research gap. The findings reveal evidence of a developing lifeworld within LinkedIn, comprising three key components: culture, social integration, and socialisation. The core small business LinkedIn culture is endorsing and advocating for business brand within a strictly professional ethos, rejecting any deviation from this approach. Social integration is based on strategic actions to …

Research outputs 2022 to 2026
With the increasing complexity of modern power systems, effective control of DC–DC converters has become crucial to ensure stability and efficiency. This paper focuses on optimizing the parameters of a known fractional-order proportional–integral–derivative (FOPID) controller for the control of a DC–DC buck–boost converter. The control of a DC–DC buck–boost converter is achieved using aFOPID approach. The gains of this technique have been enhanced utilizing the snake optimization (SO) algorithm. This converter exhibits unfavourable behaviour due to its non-minimum structure, necessitating a well-regulated controller to guarantee stability. The fractional concept is suggested here to enhance the dynamics of the classical PID …

Adults Drug Court Model's Review: A Case Study, Byron R. Titus
Antioch University Dissertations & Theses
In 1989 Dade County, Florida, the so-called “War on Drugs” was in full swing. As a result, drug courts were created, acting as a diversion program for the many people subsequently caught up in this “war.” Since then, such “specialty courts” have proliferated across the planet. In some cases, local versions have been adopted to adjust to their unique population, culture, risk, and needs. This dissertation is a case study that reviews three Intensive Probation Supervision Programs (IPSP). These IPSPs identify a drug court in their state or country before it becomes a “certified drug court” (now more often referred …

Criminogenic risk-needs assessment is the cornerstone of recidivism reduction models in the correctional sector. Despite decades of using criminogenic risk-need tools, recidivism outcomes remain stubbornly high in the U.S. This non-traditional dissertation explored how traditional criminogenic assessments could be improved with the addition of measures of childhood adversity and maltreatment. This study found that the prevalence of ACEs was significantly greater in an adult prison population of 1,522 in a rural, western state than in the general public. Utilizing logistic regression, this research also found that ACEs were better predictors of in-prison misconduct than traditional criminogenic risk-needs assessments, although traditional …

Guided by Critical Race Theory and intersectionality, the analysis examines narrative structures, character agency, symbolism, and dialogue to uncover intersectional patterns (e.g., race, gender, class) across three periods: 2009–2013, 2014–2018, and 2019–2024. Across these periods, cultural …
