To accommodate increasing cargo volumes and remain competitive, ports worldwide are facing growing pressure to expand and modernize their facilities. However, these expansions can place additional strain on land transportation networks, leading to congestion, delays and operational inefficiencies. This study used VISSIM, a microscopic traffic simulation tool, to model and analyze the complex traffic dynamics at the Blount Island Marine Terminal in Jacksonville, Florida, which is currently undergoing expansion.

Research suggests that antisocial behavior is a major problem for all those involved in school environments. Additionally, despite the prevalence of using harsher punishments in response to such behavior, these practices may present more negative rather than positive consequences. The aim of the current study was to explore antisocial behavior in schools and the disciplinary approaches used in response to such behavior. Using disciplinary data reported for public schools in 67 districts of the state of Florida, the prevalence of antisocial behavior incidents was compared to the prevalence of other, drug-related incidents. This interpretive phenomenological study, which sought to understand the lived experiences of nine preservice teachers in a pre-student teaching practicum, has uncovered helpful findings. The study investigated their perceptions of relationships, roles, and fit with cooperating teachers, as well as their impact on socio-emotional aspects, particularly their feelings of readiness for student teaching and teacher identity development. These findings address the literature gap regarding preservice teachers’ perspectives on clinical practice before student teaching and have the potential to impact the field of teacher education. Objective: A thin choroid is a recognized risk factor for myopia-associated complications and visual impairment in later life. This study aims to develop a clinical tool to identify individuals whose choroidal thickness varies from that expected for their age, sex and refraction, and who might therefore be at higher or lower risk of future myopic complications. The development of rapid, sensitive and cost-effective lateral flow assays is crucial for the detection of mycotoxins, ideally at the point-of-care level. This study presents the design and optimization of a competitive lateral flow assay based on gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) for the detection of zearalenone in food samples. Beginning with the synthesis and functionalization of gold nanoparticles, it proceeds to compare the immobilization of antibodies using chemical conjugation and physical adsorption binding strategies, upon optimizing parameters including the pH, antibody concentration and blocking conditions to enhance the stability of the prepared bioconjugates. Sodium gluconate (SG), a functional organic salt derived from gluconic acid, is widely utilized in various industrial sectors because of its excellent chelating ability, low toxicity, and biodegradability. SGs can be produced sustainably through the neutralization of gluconic acid, which is obtained from the microbial fermen-tation of lignocellulosic biomass such as oil palm fronds (OPFs) and empty fruit bunches (OPEFBs). Climate change necessitates innovative strategies, with carbon markets emerging as a key tool for mitigation. This study assesses the readiness and willingness of stakeholders in Anambra State to engage in a subnational carbon market. Using a structured questionnaire distributed across government, industry, and academia, the data were analyzed through descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation, and multiple regression analysis. The findings indicate a moderate level of readiness (M = 3.47) and willingness (M = 3.48) among stakeholders. Understanding plant‒microbial interactions in petroleum-contaminated soil is critical for enhancing phytoremediation technology. In this study, the root exudate of crabgrass (Digitaria ciliaris) was collected hydroponically, and its dominant composition was identified via GC‒MS. A soil microcosm study was subsequently conducted to evaluate the influence of crabgrass root exudates on microbial growth, dehydrogenase activity, and biodegradation of total petroleum hydrocarbons by the petroleum-degrading bacteria Micrococcus luteus WN01 and Acinetobacter lwoffii A07. The amendment of crabgrass root exudates significantly promoted microbial degradation in both A. lwoffii A07 (47.98%) and M. luteus WN01 (62.78%), which were 8.47% and 15.78% greater than …

This study examines the transformation of the Indian community in Malaya during the Japanese occupation (1941–45), with a focus on the rise of nationalist consciousness and collective identity. Through the formation and activities of the Indian Independence League (IIL) and the Indian National Army (INA), the Indian community experienced significant organizational and ideological changes. This article investigates the dynamic relationship between cultural heritage and regional identity among the Indian diaspora in Singapore, specifically focusing on the experiences of classical Indian dancers. Historically, the process of “Indianization” deeply influenced the cultural landscape of Southeast Asia, evidenced by the regional prominence of the Hindu epics, the Ramayana and the Mahabharata. Introduction. This study explores the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) within the framework of domain analysis (DA), traditionally grounded in socio-cognitive and realist perspectives. The aim is to assess AI's potential to enhance DA's focus on contextual and disciplinary knowledge, while examining possible epistemological challenges.

Method. Building on established concepts from Hjørland’s socio-cognitive DA framework, this paper employs a theoretical review to examine AI's capacity to augment DA by improving classification, retrieval and interdisciplinary mapping within knowledge organisation.

Haematocarpus Validus is commonly known as blood fruit, is a significant dietary staple in Southeast Asia, particularly in Meghalaya, India. This comprehensive study evaluates the pomological, chemical, nutritional, anti-nutritional, and toxicological properties of the fruit harvested from five different altitudes in Meghalaya. The firmness of the fruit varied significantly, ranging from 65 to 72 N, influenced by altitude and geographical coordinates. Total soluble solids (TSS) ranged from 15.9 to 18.2 °Brix, while titratable acidity (TA) decreased with altitude. Preserving food freshness is fundamental for minimizing waste. Intelligent packaging offers valuable information, enhances safety, and improves food quality during storage and transit. This study aimed to develop biodegradable, intelligent food packaging for shrimp using curcumin (Cur), gelatin (Gel), sodium alginate (SA), and nanoclay (NC) to enhance food safety and extend shelf life. The films with 1 % NC-Cur exhibited a 3.46-fold increase in UV barrier properties compared to the control, although Cur reduced transparency.
