Gendered Racism And Asian American Men’S Hazardous Alcohol Use: The Role Of Drinking To Cope, Emil K. Turdukulov, Thomas P. Le

Psychology Faculty Research and Scholarship

Gendered racism has been previously associated with greater alcohol use among Asian American men (AAM), yet the mechanisms underlying this association are not fully understood. This study thus investigated whether gendered racism is associated with hazardous alcohol use among AAM directly and indirectly via drinking to cope and resistance and empowerment against racism. 253 AAM (M = 36.75 years old) completed an online cross-sectional survey that contained the study questionnaires. Hierarchical regression analyses examined the association between gendered racism and hazardous alcohol use, and mediation analyses investigated whether drinking to cope and resistance and empowerment against racism underlied this …

Mansoura Medical Journal

Background: Toxoplasmosis, a widespread protozoal disease caused by the obligatory intracellular Toxoplasma gondii (TG). Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a disease characterized by progressive damage and loss in kidney functions. End stage renal disease (ESRD) is known as CKD with GFR less than 15ml/min. Nephrotic syndrome (NS) is defined as heavy proteinuria that ultimately ends in hypoalbuminemia, hyperlipidemia and generalized edema. Patients with CKD and ESRD are immune compromised so more liable to increased incidence of infections, especially opportunistic infections. Nephrotic syndrome ,90% of cases, is of unknown etiology but some papers suggest toxoplasmosis as a cause. Aim: To evaluate …

Hybrid Quantum-Assisted Deep Learning Model For Early-Stage Alzheimer’S Disease Classification Based On Mri Images, Eman A. Radhi, Mohammed Y. Kamil, Mazin Abed Mohammed

Mesopotamian Journal of Big Data

Alzheimer's disease (AD) presents significant diagnostic challenges owing to the subtle morphological similarities observed in the early stages, with traditional deep learning approaches often struggling to distinguish between the various stages of disease progression via structural Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) data. Quantum computing offers unique advantages for medical image analysis, leveraging superposition and entanglement capabilities to process high-dimensional feature spaces beyond the limits of classical computation. This study introduces a hybrid quantum-classical neural network architecture (HQC-Net) for accurate four-class Alzheimer's disease classification, which uses quantum processing to detect patterns that are often invisible to classical spatial analysis methods. The proposed …

Mesopotamian Journal of Big Data

This paper introduces a hybrid CNN-LSTM architecture for automatic advantage prediction and optimization in erbium-doped fibre amplifiers (EDFAs), addressing a crucial role in maintaining signal strength over long-distance optical networks; however, existing modelling techniques face significant challenges in balancing accuracy and computational efficiency. The proposed version uniquely integrates convolutional neural networks (CNNs) for spatial-spectral function extraction and long short-term memory (LSTM) networks for temporal dynamics modelling, allowing simultaneous prediction of benefit profiles, 3 dB compression factors, and full-width half-maximum (FWHM) bandwidths from 5 input parameters: pump electricity, signal energy, fibre length, erbium concentration, and wavelength. When validated against OptiSystem simulations …

Mesopotamian Journal of Big Data

Iraqi lemon trees (Citrus limon), vital for regional agriculture and food security, face intensifying threats from extreme heat caused by ongoing climate change in Iraq. Native cultivars often lack thermotolerance due to low expression of protective heat-response genes. This study addresses this critical challenge by developing an AI-assisted framework that integrates real RNA-Seq data, Transformer-based deep learning, and explainable AI to classify and simulate the function of genes associated with heat stress adaptation. The primary objective is to identify key thermotolerance genes and model their biological impact, with a specific focus on indigenous citrus varieties. Using a customized transformer architecture …

Color Stability Of Conventional, 3d-Printed, And Milled Denture Teeth After Immersion In Coloring Agents: An In Vitro Study, Dany Nassif, Nancy Chemaly, Rim Bourgi, Carole Abi-Ghosn, Louis Hardan, Jihad Fakhouri

International Arab Journal of Dentistry

Objectives: This study investigates the color stability of denture teeth made from different materials when subjected to various staining solutions.

Methods: Forty-five A1 shade upper central incisors were divided into three groups: prefabricated, 3D printed, and milled denture teeth (N=45). Each group was further divided into three subgroups, with teeth immersed in coffee, wine, and artificial saliva for up to 120 days (n=5). ∆E values for color change were measured using an Optishade colorimeter.

Results: The type of teeth, type of solution, and immersion time had a significant effect on color stability (p < 0.001). Interactions between the three variables were all significant (p < 0.001). Conventional denture teeth showed slight color changes with saliva (ΔE = 1.256 by day 120), moderate changes with wine (ΔE = 2.893), and more significant changes with coffee (ΔE = 5.208). Milled denture teeth exhibited no color changes with saliva, noticeable changes with wine (ΔE = 5.359), and moderate changes with coffee (ΔE = 3.137). 3D printed denture teeth showed no color changes with saliva, but increased changes with wine (ΔE = 2.533) and highly significant changes with coffee (ΔE = 10.546). Coffee consistently caused the highest ΔE values, especially in 3D printed teeth.

Conclusions: The study …

Clinical and radiographic examinations, including CBCT, revealed a significant periapical lesion involving multiple teeth. The multidimensional treatment began with meticulous endodontic therapy for teeth 12, 11, 21, and 22, followed by Platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) application to enhance healing. Surgical cystic enucleation was performed under local anesthesia, involving flap elevation and cyst removal, confirmed by biopsy as a radicular cyst. Apicoectomy and retrograde filling with mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA) were executed. …

Conservative Non-Surgical Endodontic Management Of A Large Cyst-Like Periapical Tunnel Lesion With 22-Month Cbct Follow-Up: A Case Report, Smriti Rohilla, Sameer Makkar, Sandeep Gupta

International Arab Journal of Dentistry

The present case report epitomises the successful non-surgical management of a large cyst-like periapical tunnel lesion of endodontic origin due to trauma using Lesion Sterilization and Tissue Repair technique. Endodontic orthograde treatment (and re-treatment) was performed in association with triple antibiotic paste as an intra-canal medication in a sixteen-year boy. Preoperative CBCT as well as at the 22 months CBCT followup were used to compare the evolution of the healing of the lesion. Accurate diagnosis in combination with non-surgical orthograde endodontic treatment can lead to can lead to complete healing of large lesions without any need of surgical intervention.
