Short-Term Effect Of Water-Soluble Iodinated Contrast “Urografin” Used For Hysterosalpingography On Thyroid Profile, Mohamed Roshdi, Ahmed Mahmoud El Menayyer, Aya Mohamed Elbialy
Mansoura Medical Journal
Background: Lipiodol is one of the most used oil-soluble contrast media (OSCM) for hysterosalpingography (HSG). Particularly concerning are its long t1/2 in tissue (50 days) and high iodine concentration (480 mg/ml). Such high iodine content can cause either Wolff-Chaikoff effect (WCE) or hyperthyroidism (Jod-Basedow phenomena (JBP)), in particular in those who have pre-existing Graves' disease or multinodular goiter. Urografin is an ionic water-soluble contrast medium (WSCM) having lower iodine concentration (300 mg/ml). Our study aimed to evaluate the short-term influence of Urografin for HSG on thyroid function. Patients and Methods: Our study is a prospective one enrolling 49 women over …

Introduction
Breast cancer is a heterogeneous disease with a wide range of clinical, histological, and molecular characteristics. Various diagnostic methods have been used to ascertain prognosis by evaluating various clinicopathological data, such as tumor size, nodal stage, hormone receptor status, and human epidermal growth factor 2 (HER2) status, metastasis, tumor grade and lymphovascular emboli. Accurate substratification of prognostic groups with varying clinical outcomes is needed. This is particularly valid for cases of hormone receptor-positive breast cancer. The purpose of this study is to examine the immunohistochemical expression of a set of markers in hormone positive breast carcinoma cases and test …

Background Breast cancer (BC) is the most frequent malignancy affecting women worldwide. Heat shock proteins (HSPs) are a family of proteins that are important for the maintenance of cell homeostasis. HSPs have been overexpressed in many tumours, including BCs, lung, gastric, ovarian, endometrial and colon Aim To evaluate the relation between serum levels of HSP70 and BC in Egyptians and its impact on tumour characteristics and different histopathological types of BC. Methods This a case-control study conducted on 70 cases of newly diagnosed BC and the control group included 19 apparently healthy age and sex matched subjects. Full clinical examination …

Evaluation Of Safety And Efficacy Of Autologous Platelet-Rich Fibrin In The Treatment Of Psoriasis Vulgaris, Hajar Esamelddin, Maha Elgyyar, Mohamed Sultan
Mansoura Medical Journal
Background: Psoriasis is a chronic, immune-mediated dermatosis characterized by dysregulated cutaneous immunity. Platelet-rich fibrin (PRF), an autologous biomaterial concentrated with immunomodulatory cytokines and growth factors, presents a potential novel therapeutic approach by modulating localized inflammatory pathways. Objective: This study aimed to assess the efficacy and safety of a topical and intralesionally autologous PRF protocol in patients with localized plaque psoriasis. Methods: In a prospective single-arm trial, sixty adults with mild-to-moderate localized plaque psoriasis (BSA ≤10%, PASI ≤10) were enrolled. PRF was prepared from peripheral blood via low-speed centrifugation without anti-coagulant. Treatment involved bi-weekly intralesionally injections and topical massage of the …

Background Trochanteric fractures are common injuries among the elderly. Despite advances in fixation with proximal femoral nails (PFN), Mechanical complication remain significant. Several reduction quality systems have been proposed, but their predictive value and reproducibility remain debated. Aim To evaluate and compare the predictive value and reproducibility of Baumgaertner Reduction Quality Criteria (BRQC), Chang Reduction Quality Criteria (CRQC), and AP3×ML3 classification in patients with AO Foundation/Orthopaedic Trauma Association (AO/OTA) 31-A1 and 31-A2 trochanteric fractures fixed with PFN. Methods A prospective observational study was conducted on 146 patients with 31-A1 and A2 trochanteric fractures treated by PFN. Postoperative radiographs were assessed …

Background The uric acid index (UAI) has recently gained recognition as a potential indicator for cardiovascular risk, particularly among middle-aged individuals. This research investigated the association between UAI levels and cardiovascular disease risk in Egyptian patients with type 2 diabetes (T2DM). Methods 200 individuals with T2DM were included in this cross-sectional analysis. The UAI was derived using the logarithmic formula: Ln [fasting triglycerides × fasting uric acid × fasting glucose ÷ 2]. To estimate the 10-year risk of cardiovascular events, the SCORE2-Diabetes was employed. Results The average serum uric acid level was 4.40 ± 1.48 mg/dL, and the mean UAI …
