Ultrathin Film Coating And Element Doping For Lithium-Ion Battery Electrodes, Xinhua Liang, Yan Gao Jan 2025

Ultrathin Film Coating And Element Doping For Lithium-Ion Battery Electrodes, Xinhua Liang, Yan Gao

Patents

The present invention relates to various lithium ion battery cathodes as well as lithium ion batteries incorporating one or more of these cathodes. The present invention further relates to processes of preparing the lithium ion battery cathode.

Incremental Cluster Validity Index-Based Offline Clustering For Machine Learning, Leonardo Enzo Brito Da Silva, Donald C. Wunsch Ii, Nagasharath Rayapati Jan 2025

Incremental Cluster Validity Index-Based Offline Clustering For Machine Learning, Leonardo Enzo Brito Da Silva, Donald C. Wunsch Ii, Nagasharath Rayapati

Patents

A neural network model replaces the supervised labeling component of a supervised learning system with an incremental cluster validity index-based unsupervised labeling component. An implementation is presented combining fuzzy adaptive resonance theory predictive mapping (ARTMAP) and incremental cluster validity indices (iCVI) for unsupervised machine learning purposes, namely the iCVIARTMAP. An iCVI module replaces the adaptive resonance theory (ART) module B of a fuzzy ARTMAP neural network model and provides assigmnents of input samples to clusters (i.e., labels) at each learning iteration in accordance to any of several possible iCVI methods described. A map field incrementally builds a many-to-one mapping of …

Additively-Manufactured Structure For Reactionary Processes, Fateme Rezaei, Ali Rownaghi, Shane Lawson Jan 2025

Additively-Manufactured Structure For Reactionary Processes, Fateme Rezaei, Ali Rownaghi, Shane Lawson

Patents

A method of additively manufacturing a structure for use in a reactionary process includes forming a material from metal or metal oxide particles, a dispersion solvent, and a binder. The method also includes depositing the material onto a build platform and curing the material to form a structure for use in a reactionary process. The structure includes the metal or metal oxide particles and is configured to provide a reaction when exposed to a reactant.

Energy Dissipation Using Negative Stiffness Shells, Mohamed El-Gawady, Yasser Darwish Jan 2025

Energy Dissipation Using Negative Stiffness Shells, Mohamed El-Gawady, Yasser Darwish

Patents

A negative stiffness shell has a convex first position, but can transition or snap to a concave second position under a force applied to the exterior surface of the shell in the convex first position. During the transition, the shell exhibits negative stiffness that permits a large amount of energy to be absorbed. The negative stiffness shell can withstand a high initial force threshold prior to transitioning. In the second, concave position the shell can still resist force. Moreover, it is possible for the shell to revert back to the first, convex position with minimal plastic deformation for subsequent use. …

Large-Scale Carbon-Mineralization Through Oxalatization, Hongyan Ma, Wenyu Liao Jan 2025

Large-Scale Carbon-Mineralization Through Oxalatization, Hongyan Ma, Wenyu Liao

Patents

The present invention is broadly concerned with mineralization methods that assist in permanent carbon storage. The methods provide a storage mechanism for oxalic acid generated by existing or future-developed carbon capture and conversion methods that convert CO2 to oxalic acid. That oxalic acid can be injected into a subsurface rock formation containing non-carbonate rock to form oxalates or oxalate hydrates. Alternatively, oxalic acid can be mixed with mine tailings, well drilling dirt, crushed rocks, etc., that contain desired non-carbonate rock minerals, to promote mineralization.

Nontoxic High Temperature Resistant Hydrogels, Thomas P. Schuman, Baujun Bai, Buddhabhushan Pundlik Salunkhe Jan 2025

Nontoxic High Temperature Resistant Hydrogels, Thomas P. Schuman, Baujun Bai, Buddhabhushan Pundlik Salunkhe

Patents

Compositions of swellable non-toxic hydro gels and their use in conformance control are described herein. More specifically, the present invention generally relates to the hydro gels compositions that can be used to treat the oil reservoirs having high temperature and high salinity conditions. The compositions generally comprise a plurality of swellable particles having one or more crosslinkers interspersed within a polymer matrix. The compositions can also be used in biomedical, agricultural, fracking and similar applications wherein thermally-stable, nontoxic hydrogels are required.

The Impact Of Age-Friendly Policy On New York State: How Executive Order-190 And Executive Order-23 Shape Community Development For All Ages, Trista Bercarich Jan 2025

The Impact Of Age-Friendly Policy On New York State: How Executive Order-190 And Executive Order-23 Shape Community Development For All Ages, Trista Bercarich

West Chester University Graduate Theses, Dissertations, and Final Projects

The demographic shift toward an aging population has created an urgent need for policies that promote inclusive, livable communities for all ages. This quantitative study examined New York State’s implementation of Age-Friendly policy through Executive Order 190 (2018) and Executive Order 23 (2022), which collectively advance the integration of health, accessibility and community participation across state and local systems. Guided by environmental gerontology and psychology, aging in place and successful aging frameworks, this research utilized an adapted version of the AARP Livable Communities Survey to assess residents’ perceptions of livability with the eight AARP domains. The cross-sectional online survey (n …
