Deep Learning Approaches For License Plate Detection In Saudi Arabia, Reemah M. Alhebshi, Abeer Almakky, Lujain Waleed Aljahdali, Raghad Bakr Hawsawi
Journal of King Abdulaziz University: Computing and Information Technology Sciences
The most important and challenging tasks in an intelligent traffic monitoring system are vehicle detection and classification. Conventional approaches are significantly computationally intensive and create limitations when the data-collecting modality alters. This study evaluates the effectiveness of deep learning models in extracting and classifying key vehicle attributes, such as license plates, models, and colors, through four AI-driven components for vehicle analysis. The YOLOv8m model was used for detecting the vehicle license plate and character recognition, achieving accuracy ranging from 95.10% to 99.24%. For vehicle model recognition, the Xception model also showed high performance with a precision of 96.79%. The EfficientNetB3 …

A Visual Analysis Of Sogie-Themed Children’S Storybooks From Mulat Sulat, Audrey Leigh T. De Leon, Cassandra Louise A. Ma, Jennifer Shan E. Ou, Belle Beatriex' M. Alemania
Sinaya: A Philippine Journal for Senior High School Teachers and Students
Children’s storybooks play a crucial role in the significance of sexual orientation, gender identity, and expression (SOGIE) and the realities of gender-based representation. Although previous literature has analyzed books through textual analysis, there remains a gap in the visual analysis of SOGIE-themed Filipino children’s books. Therefore, this study focuses on the visual representation of characters in five storybooks published under the Mulat Sulat project in 2018. This research employed the first three levels of Rodriguez and Dimitrova’s (2011) visual framing framework to analyze how illustrations are depicted through various visual elements. Additionally, this study utilized Bisht’s (2020) coding template to …

Integrating Virtual Reality Technology Into Interior Design Education: An Experiential Study Within The United Arab Emirates, Sarah Mohammed El Hawary, Ola Ali Hashem, Farzad Pour Rahimian
Journal of Art, Design and Music
Students studying interior design can benefit from virtual reality (VR) technology, particularly when creating a digital three-dimensional (3D) model for their project. VR technology is now used in design education. VR enhances critical thinking, engagement, and spatial perception, according to several studies (Meggs et al., 2012; Akhmadi, 2024). Virtual reality aids students in comprehending spatial relationships, depth, and interior scale (Moussa and Kandil, 2024; Li and Xie, 2022). Particularly in terms of composition and proportion, design outcomes improve (Qin & Li, 2023). Learning becomes more immersive thanks to technology, which inspires students and enhances results (Som et al., 2021; Mahmarowi, …

Artificial Intelligence, An Aid In Teledentistry: A Review, Kavery Ittira Kuttappa, Mamatha Shetty, Upasana Reddy, Srilakshmi Mahadevan
International Arab Journal of Dentistry
The central question is whether teledentistry can effectively access and provide treatment to dental patients. This review seeks to examine how teledentistry improves oral health services through the use of various enabling technologies. This explores the integration of artificial intelligence in teledentistry in modern oral healthcare. Teledentistry expands its access to dental services, especially in remote and undeserved communities through synchronous, asynchronous and remote patient monitoring while reducing costs, logistical barriers and chairside time. It shifts its dynamic from a curative model to a proactive preventive one which focuses on patient centered care. Artificial Intelligence (AI) includes machine learning, deep …

Emotive Immersion: Eeg-Driven Ai Art In Immersive Visual Spaces (Full Dome), Yuming Chen, Gianni Corino
School of Art, Design and Architecture
This paper proposes a rethinking of the “Future Screen” through the integration of affective computing, generative AI, and immersive spatial display. As an advanced screen paradigm, the full dome environment transcends flat, passive interfaces and enables dynamic, multisensory, and emotionally adaptive media experiences (Von Chamier-Waite, 2013). Building on this potential, the research presents Coids, an interactive dome installation. In this work, real-time emotional states are captured using EEG-based emotion recognition. These inputs dynamically shape AI-generated visuals within a shared immersive setting.Drawing on theories of immersion, presence, AI generated visuals and affect, the study explores how physiological data, even from low-resolution …

The Making Of Jewish-American Progress In Gertrude Stein’S, The Making Of Americans: Being A History Of A Family’S Progress, Rochel L. Gasson
The Making Of Jewish-American Progress In Gertrude Stein’S, The Making Of Americans: Being A History Of A Family’S Progress, Rochel L. Gasson
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
This dissertation provides a comprehensive reading of Gertrude Stein’s The Making of Americans (TMOA), situating the novel at the intersection of literary modernism, Jewish American identity, and feminist thought. It argues that Stein reconceives American progress not as linear advancement but as a recursive, relational, and culturally grounded process. Through experimental form, repetitive syntax, and a sustained present tense, TMOA dramatizes the psychological and social complexities of immigrant families navigating assimilation while maintaining heritage. Characters such as the Old Man, his son, and the Dehning and Herland families reveal generational tensions, moral labor, and the ambivalences of upward …
Butterflies & You: Considerations Of Human Relationships With The Natural World, M. E. Colby
Butterflies & You: Considerations Of Human Relationships With The Natural World, M. E. Colby
Undergraduate Honors Theses
Science communication only accounts for approximately 2% of the entire scientific output of 2017-2022 (Parejo-Cuéllar et. al, 2024). It is an under-researched and under-valued field, especially in an age that has devalued science as a whole. The delicate art of explaining complicated ideas to people who are unfamiliar with scientific jargon is vital to humans’ understanding of the world. Butterflies & You is a documentary film exploring the relationship between humans and the many different butterfly species that call Illinois home. Video-based science communication is important to research and practice because of its impact on environmental advocacy and the growing …

Theses
Throughout my tenure at RIT, I have produced multiple short films, undertaken gaming co-ops, and pursued an independent study centered on gaming assets to expand my technical and creative skills. For my thesis film, I sought to merge these experiences by concentrating on environmental storytelling—a deliberate challenge, given faculty concerns that narratives lacking strong character focus may struggle to engage audiences emotionally. With these considerations in mind, I crafted a film featuring a secondary character within a rich environment, designed to immerse viewers and provoke curiosity about the story’s temporal and spatial context.

Cosmic Legends is a touchscreen-based interactive kiosk that invites users to explore how different cultures interpret the same star—Betelgeuse. Designed for public educational settings, it blends visual storytelling, mythology, and voice interaction into a cohesive learning experience. This project challenges the Eurocentric approach of most astronomy tools by introducing global narratives rooted in Navajo, Tupi, and Japanese sky traditions. Users begin by tapping a glowing version of Betelgeuse, which transforms the night sky into a new cultural context. Each sky shift is paired with narrated myths, synchronized captions, and celestial motion design. The interface prioritizes accessibility with dyslexia-friendly text, high-contrast …
Beheld To Behold: A Rhetorical Theology Of Otherness In Acts, Hannah E. Gross
Beheld To Behold: A Rhetorical Theology Of Otherness In Acts, Hannah E. Gross
Masters Theses
The phenomena of otherness foundationally grounds this work. A micro-concept of Martin Buber’s I and Thou Theory, otherness is central to this study particularly as it is rhetorically situated in the work of Acts. The research draws from ideological criticism to produce a rhetorical theology. Findings uncover two primary relational dynamics of otherness: (1) God to the believer to the unbeliever and (2) God to the believer to the believer. These constructions of dialogical engagement in Acts are donned witness and withness, offering keen insight on a rhetorical theology of otherness.

Understanding Barriers To High School Teen Self-Expression, Connection & Inclusion., Susana Estes
Masters Theses
This thesis investigates the invisible barriers that prevent high school students from expressing their identities, forming meaningful connections, and experiencing a sense of belonging within school environments. Drawing on research in adolescent development, school climate, psychology of belonging, and participatory design, the study identifies structural, emotional, and social factors that contribute to student disconnection. Through a review of key theorists and three case studies, the research reveals that teens need structured opportunities for safe self-expression, visible affirmation of their identities, and accessible spaces for reflective interaction. In response, this thesis presents a research-informed interactive design solution: a two-part installation titled …

The Fruit Of The Spirit Beyond Sunday: A Practical Implementation Of The Fruit Of The Spirit Through Visual And Experiential Learning, Amy English
Masters Theses
In today’s world, modern Christian women recognize the importance of the Fruit of the Spirit—love, joy, peace, patience, meekness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and temperance—but many Christian women find it difficult to consistently put these virtues into practice. A key reason for this struggle is the lack of practical methods and visual reminders that help women recall and apply these qualities in their daily lives. Without clear, accessible ways to nurture these spiritual fruits, believers may find that their growth in these areas is limited or inconsistent.
This thesis explores how combining intentional spiritual habits with creative visual tools can make …
Hugs In Hues, Shivani Pednekar
Hugs In Hues, Shivani Pednekar
Theses
Hugs in Hues is an animated short film about social anxiety, emotional expression, and discomfort with physical touch. The story follows Tina, a young artist who struggles to express how she feels. When she pulls away from a hug from her friend Emily, Tina escapes into a painting-like 2D world made from her drawings. This imagined world reflects Tina’s emotions. The colors, textures, and spaces change based on how she feels. Her anxiety, fear of rejection, and need for safety take visual form. The real world feels sharp and rigid, while Tina’s illustrated world feels soft, imperfect, and expressive. Animation …
